I just discovered your channel tonight and truly resonated with all you said in regard to your choices. I’ve been a long time Hobonichi Cousin user and like you I’ve felt restricted with the dated daily pages. I recently purchased the Sterling Ink Undated A5 Common-Planner and I love it, except for the portability factor… it’s quite heavy & bulky in my Roterfaden Taschenbegleiter notebook. I’m now leaning towards the Sterling Ink N1 as my carry planner & then transfer to the A5 and also use the A5 for deep or thoughtful journaling. I appreciate your video … it gave me a lot to consider. New Subscriber.😊
Awwwww thanks for subscribing! Really appreciate your support in my little dot on this RUclipsR-VERSE! 😅 I hope you’ll soon find a planner system that makes your life easier to manage. I know I’m still trying to figure out mines….but I think I’m closer to discovering that “planner peace” so my overconsumption will cease and true contentment can finally take place! Have a great week❤️
I used to think that I wanted undated "daily" pages and that the dated pages were too restrictive. But after using the Sterling Ink planners (and others) that are undated I realized the dates actually keep me accountable. I can still (and do) use dated daily pages for whatever I want and can continue past that one page if needed - and it's actually fun to change it up and use them how I want. But having the dates there keeps me accountable for using them and also keeps me on track with where I am in the month/week/year. I've learned that the dated pages give me a structure I actually need but are also super flexible to use however I want so I get the best of both. And covering the dates on the pages I need to use for something else or for a continuation creates so much less bulk than dating all the undated pages.
This so much. I used to be a bullet journaller and figured undated was the way to go because it was familiar. Then I discovered I absolutely loathe dating pages. I don’t have pretty handwriting and don’t wanna stamp or sticker EVERY SINGLE DAY so despite all the pretty undated planners, I need a dated one to stay consistent. Sterling Ink Daily in B6 is the winner for me this coming year
@JustScribble Hi! Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I agree with having structure while planning during our weeks and months, but when it comes to daily pages I much prefer less pressure there. I don’t use stickers or stamps for dates as it’s time consuming and also financially unsustainable. I just write the date and carry on with my entry. Perhaps at this season of my life it’s quite difficult to write everyday and that’s why I don’t like the pressure I feel with Hobonichi daily pages. I’m sure I will appreciate the structure and accountability when life isn’t as chaotic as mines🤭. Marriage and 5 kids isn’t as easy to find a daily routine to journal, lol. However when I do find time to write, I can easily fill up 3-5 pages an entry! That’s why I’m going with SI this year. (Still love Hobo though❤️) I appreciate your honesty and looking forward seeing more of your comments! Enjoy these last few weeks of summer❤️
I totally agree! I can’t BUJO either, that takes a lot of time and discipline to keep up! I prefer some structure in my planners as I don’t have the time to write out every detail on a undated planner. If I’m being honest I don’t see the point unless you don’t really need a planner to be organized on a day to day basis. Heck, I can’t function without opening my planner at least three times a day. Again kudos to those who can do it and do it well, they make it look easy😅 I’m looking into several sizes from SI but only sticking to two planners but getting several notebooks as well. Thanks for your comment looking forward to read more of you!
I can’t waste money either and realize I don’t need (although I may want) all the shiny new planners - after a lot of reflection - I am 100% on the undated wagon - I like starting my “personal” year in September (my birthday month) I just hand write the dates in on the calendars - I find it relaxing and don’t care if it’s not perfect - no one is grading me 😜 - I love the freedom of the undated pages - I use washi tape on edge of pages to create sections - journal, password/bank info, checkbook register. This is working so well for me in the sterling ink “mega weeks” size - it fits in my purse and I can carry it with me whenever I leave the house My life is not so structured that I have to refer to my planner to guide my day, just want to keep track of bill due dates, birthdays and appointments and have a place to journal some thoughts when needed and have a place to document where my money went😢 (groceries, doctors and vets) crazy expensive! I too feel structure kind of goes out the window when kids, husband, pets are contributing their needs to the days! - I have 2 older boys and wow there is not a week that goes by when they don’t throw a wrench into my plans - Cannot imagine the hectic of 5 kids and a marriage!!! 1000 million percent - planners should not cause anxiety!!! - I have dealt with that - realized I have to be very conscious of FOMO and not go down that path - I actually took an old unused planner and used it for listing every planner I wanted to purchase, what their prices were and how I thought they would fix my life. It was eye opening and really helped me to gain a sense of what I needed a planner to do for me
Great video and thought discussion - Yes - planners should not cause anxiety!!! When I find myself obsessing I intentionally “step away” - will brain dump all my planner thoughts in a cheap spiral bound notebook and remind myself that I could use that spiral bound as my planner system if needed - no one is going to die because I don’t have a “fancy/perfect” planner I think it is important to set rules for what I need- they can always be broken😜- but boundaries help me keep some peace of mind Personally I never back plan - this year I was in a hobonichi cousin - if I miss a day I cover the date with washi tape and leave it blank - then at some point I will use that page to continue a journal entry randomly, ink swatch or just decorate the pages with stickers, stamps, etc. My birthday is beginning of September- and I have decided that is going to be my personal “new year” and have purchased the undated sterling ink weeks size N2 and the A5 - I have already “dated up” the N2 - that is my go with me everywhere planner, checkbook register, to-do list, schedule keeper, journal on the go, “don’t lose it baby” I am on the fence for the A5 - originally planned to use it as a keep at home - positive thoughts only kind of journal - but now I am thinking I like the freedom of just one functional planner - so it may sit unused for a while - will see what happens Like the idea of using it as a bible study planner / journal 😁
Thank you for your comment and I agree with what you’ve said, we should use what we got and we’re not going to die if we don’t have a pretty planner. We can make a spiral notebook from the dollar store just as pretty if we are dedicated enough to do it! A5 is my stay at home and N1 is my go to, however that B6 is calling my name this year😅
Just found your page 😊 I was incredibly wasteful this year because I had fomo and wanted to try all the things. I'm trying to be very intentional for next year. I'm torn between Paper Tess Designs and Sterling Ink. Both have absolutely gorgeous planners and options. Two is my sweetspot too. One that I carry around and is essentially my main planner where I can keep lists and reference and quick notes for the year and the other is more a journal, but they compliment each other well. Potentially thinking PTD Pocket for on the go and then Sterling Ink in Standard (N1) or B6 for journaling and memory keeping. Luckily we have time!

The Jibun's stress me out because the pages are just too much...and I love the idea of the PTD Manager but I'm afraid it might be too rigid. @justscribble, I like the classic happy planner size, which is very close to B5. But it sits on my desk at work. No way I’m going to lug that in my purse everyday.
Thank you for clarifying this, I too believe B5 is going to be popular just because it’s a new size that most aren’t familiar with. Are you currently using a B5? If so is it easy to travel with?
Agree! B5 traveling to and fro seems a bit much. And most purses aren’t B5 friendly unless you’re carrying a backpack! But what size are you planning to get?
@@stationeryamore I'm not @justscribble, but I bet the A5 would be a good size for you, for you and your grandmother. It is a little large to carry around all the time, but it would not be terrible once in awhile. I have a plan to semi-retire hopefully by the end of next year, and I am maybe considering an A5 size for 2026. My Classic Happy Planner at work is more unyielding because of the discs and also I have a homemade leather cover for it. It is bigger than a normal B5 notebook without the discs...but even so, that is the size that would basically have to stay home all the time I bet
I have always been a Hobbi Teo Cousin, and a Hobie mega weeks girl. However, I struggled also with the dated pages in the Cousin. My life has changed drastically. I am now retired, and I’ve been looking at the sterling Inc. and perhaps going towards the B6, I don’t know if I need an A5 anymore. It might be too muchand I wanna condense into one and make the B6 my everything and be able to take it with me. Have you looked at the B6? Does anybody in the group use that size? Thanks for any feedback I’m so thankful I found your channel.
Thanks for your comment! Happy Retirement❤️ I truly hope you’re able to enjoy your new life and all things stationery. I have used her first B6 common planner and it was pleasant to use, however I was dedicated to my Hobo weeks and transitioning from weeks to a B6 was a bit daunting so I didn’t make the best use of the B6. However I did transition a size bigger from Hobo weeks to Sterling Ink’s TN (N1) size and I must admit I’m very happy with that size as it serves as a oversized Hobo Weeks Mega😍 B6 is a very popular size across the board as it’s not too small or too big. If A5 and A6 had a baby it would be a B6😂. It’s a good size for planning and journaling! Let me know what you’ve finally decide and how it goes❤️ thanks for watching!
Great thoughts on 2025. Sterling ink has such great variety, it does make it hard not to have fomo! As for B5, it’s basically the size of an old school composition notebook.or 2 B6 books together. Also it’s a smidge larger than a classic happy planner. I think the book you were showing looked like letter size or A4? Not sure Anyway, I enjoy your videos. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for pointing that out, I never owned a B5 planner/notebook and in the videos they look huge! But I appreciate your input😊 I will try a B5 notebook for a proper comparison!
@@stationeryamore yeah I noticed that too. when she brings the planners closer to the camera, they all look so much bigger. It’s hard to really gauge rhe size! If want to try a B5 without too much expense, the kokuyo campus “semi-b5” notebooks have really nice smooth paper. Amazon sells them.
How does the paper in the common planner compare to the hobo? I have used hobo in the past because it is fountain pen friendly but I don't love how flimsy the pages feel.
Hi! The clear cover is from Lauren Phelps Design. It was her old one and I had to stretch it out a bit by applying heat to it, however she made new clear covers to fit the SI TN planners!
Hi. I bought the Sterling Ink A5 vertical Common Planner in 2 books. I wanted the berry color but it sold out so I ended up getting the Carmel with gold edges. So far I like it. I only have to adjust the monthly calendars to a Sunday start. But I do like that all the color and quotes that my hobinichi has are NOT in the Sterling Ink. I need a new clear cover for it though.
@poetspicecolorwrite I’ve been seeing the same thing with the cover issues. It’s not just the mulberry but the other covers are way too soft or floppy. A thicker card stock would have been better for easier use for all covers.
@@stationeryamore I was able to get a Midori clear cover but only 1. I’m wondering if the jelly clear covers are any sturdier since they are priced higher.
It’s a bit of both but I get what you mean. This is my first time using stickers and the sorts in my planners just to give it a little bit more character. However at heart I’m more of a functional planner. Highlighting, time blocking and color coding.

However I did transition a size bigger from Hobo weeks to Sterling Ink’s TN (N1) size and I must admit I’m very happy with that size as it serves as a oversized Hobo Weeks Mega😍
B6 is a very popular size across the board as it’s not too small or too big. If A5 and A6 had a baby it would be a B6😂. It’s a good size for planning and journaling!
Let me know what you’ve finally decide and how it goes❤️ thanks for watching!
Where die you geht the calendar Style Date Numbers in the Hobonichi Weekly Layout? They Look great.
Following… 😊
I got those calendar numbers from Grabieart.com
Thank you so much for your support❤️
Great thoughts on 2025. Sterling ink has such great variety, it does make it hard not to have fomo!
As for B5, it’s basically the size of an old school composition notebook.or 2 B6 books together. Also it’s a smidge larger than a classic happy planner. I think the book you were showing looked like letter size or A4? Not sure
Anyway, I enjoy your videos.
Oh nice! Maybe Amazon is best so I won’t feel guilty in the end 😅. What planners are you currently using?
@@dtmama Stalogy B5 is another great, pretty inexpensive B5 option. I love B5 but it is big to lug around especially as the TRP fluffs up.
@@JustScribble oh yes, I forgot about the Stalogy B5 too. Great idea.
How does the paper in the common planner compare to the hobo? I have used hobo in the past because it is fountain pen friendly but I don't love how flimsy the pages feel.
It's the same Sanzen Tomoe River paper.
Where did you find a clear cover for the TN size from sterling ink? Thanks!
Hi! The clear cover is from Lauren Phelps Design. It was her old one and I had to stretch it out a bit by applying heat to it, however she made new clear covers to fit the SI TN planners!
How long did it take to get your Sterling Ink planner after you ordered? I just ordered from
Them on the 15th for the first time.
Sorry for my late reply, it takes about a week or two depending on where you live. Do you like your planner? Which one did you choose?!!
Seems like it’s more of a journal than an actual planner planner 😅
It’s a bit of both but I get what you mean. This is my first time using stickers and the sorts in my planners just to give it a little bit more character. However at heart I’m more of a functional planner. Highlighting, time blocking and color coding.
