Finding you Joerg has been indispensable in acquiring the knowledge in all aspects of the crossbow and your affable manner makes the learning even more enjoyable-Bless you and thank you.
Hi Jörg ! I know you LOVE repeating crossbows. So I want you to try something : Can you try to make a cylindrical magasine (like a drum mag) for a repeting crossbow. Kinda like the one from Van Helsing. This could allow you to carry more arrows.
Joerg, when you say, "Let me show you its features" followed by your laugh - your enthusiasm comes through loud & clear about how much you enjoy what you do. Always highlight moments in all your awesome videos!
The guy just turned a nice crossbow into the most amazing versatile survival crossbow ever. And his comments? "It was really easy - let me show you it's features!"
Hey Joerg, I'm pretty experienced at making bows, and just one thing to point out. You chose a steel ball with a weight similar to the arrow to ensure the limbs of the bow wouldn't be damaged, but the weight of the projectile is not what matters here, but the total weight the string is pushing. So you only needed to make the weight of the sled+ball similar to the arrow. You don't need such a heavy ball to be safe. Love your work! :D
Brother, you are awesome! Love your personality and way of delivery. Interesting, educational, and definitely entertaining! From one German to another, much love and respect!
I remember making a bowstring very similar to that when I was about ten, so that's about forty years ago. I used dacron thread intended for sewing sails. At one time my parents had bought sporting bows, and I used their strings as a guide for how to construct my own bow string for the ridiculously over dimensioned bow I had spent most of summer making out in the woods. While I was wrapping the string I discovered a way to make sure the wrapp was both tight and uniform that worked much better for me than trying to do it the way Joerg did it in this video. Simply said I just wrapped the string very quickly not bothering to try to make it look nice at all. Then I pulled the thread back making the string twist, only to then let the string twist back while making sure the wrapping thread was rolled back on tight and nice. The string looked perfect and it was very strong. Unfortunately the bow was really ridiculously strong. It was in fact far stronger than my fathers steel bow, and that was the strongest bow he had been able to buy at the time, so being a ten year old kid I just couldn't shoot it. It was so ridiculous that after trying to shoot it my fathers bow felt light. He was very surprised that I was even able to draw his bow, but even so I was trembling so bad at full extension I couldn't really use it.
I watch your videos for weapon entertainment, but ALSO for just listening to you chuckle!!! And I bet tons of people agree; it is sooo pleasing to hear that laugh! It always sounds like you're up to no good, which you are of course, ha-ha-ha !
Would the magnet not slow the ball down also? Between the sled, magnet holding the ball and also any attraction the magnet has to the actual weapon. Perhaps fabricating a sled with a slight cup shape and placing the magnet underneath where the sled sets when loaded. That would minimize the weight of the sled, still hold the ball in place while cocked and cause less net loss of energy especially if the sled is made of a non-magnetic material. Just a thought.
the magnet allows the ball to not fall evrytime you're not aiming the crossbow so you can have it cocked and ready to shoot. As for the "drag" that the magnet occures it is nothing compared to the force induced when shooting, thus making that drag negligable. It is to replace the groove that you have at the back of arrows/bolts.
@@SessesSniper yes the amount of force is far different, did I say it would double or triple force? No. I said it would INCREASE. I seriously don't understand why the only two comments I got were from people trying to shoot down an idea of how to possibly improve something. I didn't say his design sucked. I didn't even say it was bad. Anyone who experiments like he does, and I do, knows input is valuable, but the difference between input and criticism is the intent.
It would still require some force to "break" the magnetic field. And with a design like that the balll would be more likely to deviate down. My comments are not here tou shot yours down. I'm here to expose my thoughts. Sure they could be wrong but at least I'm bringing elements you maybe forgot in the first place.
Stop putting cheap red dots (or even good red dots!) on your (great!) wood magazines.. Just go see at 7:17, you might understand part of why the contraption is inaccurate, rear end of your aiming device completely lifts up
Yep. It would probably be more effective to permanently mount open sights of some kind on the mag. Any temporary mount like those used for optics on such a dynamic part might as well be completely useless. Better than that would be to attach a static mounting tower *behind* the mag for his optics.
Lucius De'Gracci That's it! Attaching metal to wood with a removable joint on a moving part or part subject to vibrations is simply never gonna work properly if you intend to keep your metal piece accurately at the same place x) open sights would be for sure a better choice, but less stylish or "tactical" I guess..
@@GiaZera a side mounted optic mount would work well, something similar to the old Russian optic mounts (although obviously not quick release). There's already some screw holes towards the back of the crossbow that could be used to mount it as well, it'd just need longer bolts and a metal plate bent at 90 degrees with a rail on top.
Great video. Obviously, you need to commission more production runs of your knife, maybe numbered with "R2" "R3" and so on for each run. It's a good idea to send samples to other youtube reviewers, too, because you would sell even more to their audience too. There is no reason to turn down honest business when you design such a great tool for the people. You work so hard to develop clever designs of many things, so it is proper that you make some profit from your efforts sometimes. You can think of it as sponsoring your own videos if that helps :)
I knew that knife was gonna sell out! I'm glad I bought mine before the video was even over! Hopefully I'll get a low number. I mean who wouldn't want to jump to get the 1st knife designed by Joerg and also limited to only 600? I bet there will be some ppl selling them on eBay for like 5 x what we paid.

Oh a Greek invention of chierobalistra in pump action, I think scorpion use the same mechanism too, but with other tension tech. Jörg, you can make it to an accurate gun by using a socket around the magnet, the ball starts to spin as its accelerated on the rail, so you get a random momentum, you need to spearate the ball from the rail! Also the socket should slide in the top cartige body as well as in the rail to make you able to reduce the weight of the string carrier. By this you mimik the fletcheting effect on the projectile. If you ready with this, make it with double limbs over the top with a 2nd gear 2 step crank action :D would love it. Also for the crank I think its better if you can pre store it, you could build a limb system beneath the gun and trigger it one by one to get the gun re armed. Or make a carosel of limbs which you can prearm, rotate and lock for the shots ! I have 30% german in my DNA :D Good luck!
