    A fascinating video. Great to see more freight traffic being generated on the line in that area. Is this now a regular working. Also have you any idea where the logs are coming from. Grew Uat Giggleswick pIand know the area welbut now live a long way away.

      All change as they say Jamie, the logs used to go from Ribblehead which were localy sorced, then they moved to hellifield because they started taking stone from R/H instead wich comes from Horton quarry untill they put a siding into the quarry there, seen a few waggons with logs which are fairly local but not sure which sites, cheers Stephen .

    • @Jamie92208
      @Jamie92208 Год назад

      Thanks Stephen, There are some forests that will be ready for cutting east of Ribblehead I can't remember the name of it. I think that the stone at Ribblehead comes from the Ingleton Quarry. They are due toput a siding back n at Horton next year I think.

    • @stephenbrass1808
      @stephenbrass1808  Год назад +1

      they were bringing logs out on the Cam fell road/Birkett moor, think some are being felled at Gisburn forrest, the stone wasfrom ingleton but now mainly limestone, cheers@@Jamie92208

    Why do they slam the brakes on???

    • @stephenbrass1808
      @stephenbrass1808  Год назад

      Very good question, no idea to be honest. 🤔

    • @Dangerous-Brian150
      @Dangerous-Brian150 Год назад

      They're not slamming the brakes on. There are 2 timing settings for wagons, pass and goods. Pass means the brakes apply quicker than on goods so the braking equipment reacts quicker. Also could be the brake blocks are not adjusted properly meaning some blocks hang closer to the wheel sets, in turn the block applies to the wheel quicker than others do

    • @stephenbrass1808
      @stephenbrass1808  Год назад +1

      thanks for the information 👍@@Dangerous-Brian150

    • @cidertom5140
      @cidertom5140 Год назад

      @@Dangerous-Brian150 so on pass does that mean like an emergency setting? Like in a car when you apply full force like if you were about to have an accident? Like emergency stop?

    • @Dangerous-Brian150
      @Dangerous-Brian150 Год назад

      @cidertom5140 no mate it means that when the driver applies the brakes, if they are in pass the brake equipment reacts quicker at applying the blocks to the wheels. Some wagon types will only have one setting, normally goods setting which is more gradual at applying the brake. Don't forget he's got a good bit of weight on those wagons too so he will have to put a bit more brake in! Next time you see any wagons, look for a lever with G and P and that's your goods/pass changeover lever.
