    Azerbaijan crushed Armenia earlier this week, making it the second country since World War II to surrender in a war, after Pakistan in 1971. In episode 618 of ThePrint’s Cut The Clutter, Shekhar Gupta explains what gave Azerbaijan its decisive edge over Armenia, which defeated it over the Nagorno-Karabakh enclave in the 1990s, and what this war tells us about the new revolution in warfare.

      Dear Sir,
      Why in India we cannot speak against our judiciary or its way of arbitrary functioning. Please do not say history that it was like this during that time and this time, etc. Democracy is a evolutionary process which means it should progress. I completely understand about legislature division because it is depending on vote bank politics for power. But judiciary being a constitutional body, which draws salary from public taxes saying it should not be criticized (hardly) is unfair to the people of india who pay them those salaries and perquisites. Please do a video about recent judiciary functioning and it's thin skin for criticism of late. As a common citizen of this country I feel painful and deeply hurted by the way courts are functioning these days (bullying for criticisms). Why can't we pass sharp criticisms against judges or supreme court when I feel that it is not doing its job appropriately. I write this out of deep hurt the judiciary causing to the destruction of faith in the system in this nation.

      I don't think this is a change in the nature of warfare. This is an example of air superiority/supremacy controlling the battlefield. This has been the case at least since WW II. This happened on the western front, and also recently in the first Gulf War. The drone is just a new tool to achieve this, and clearly this is a relatively inexpensive method of achieving air superiority/supremacy to systems employed in the past.

    Bayraktar drones have AI built in their computers. It has self learning capabilities that drone learned flying in difficult weather conditions. Unlike the other drones, TB2 can fly in almost any weather conditions. You said the range is 150km but that is limited because of the antenna range. Also you can put extra antenna to extend the range. Now they are working on putting SATCOM to make it satellite controlled so you can fly pretty much anywhere for 24h. Stay tuned, more drone tech is on the way.

    • @becauseiwasinverted5222
      @becauseiwasinverted5222 3 года назад +7

      No idea where you're getting all this. TB2s are conventional RPVs, they are remotely controlled and any autonomous capability does not extend beyond long-established, limited-use unmanned aircraft functions like autopilots/stabilization and autoland (and that's IF they are a part of the design to begin with). A far cry from "AI" or "self-learning capabilities" and other buzzwords. And there is no such thing as "extra antenna to extend the range" lmao, adding more receivers does not increase sensitivity or control station emitter power.

    • @Batuhan1988
      @Batuhan1988 3 года назад +8

      @Julius Caesar do you think they haven’t tried jamming the signals in Libya, Syria and Azerbaijan? Apparently, it is not like that simple. Yes drones are not better than human controlled jets but drones can fly longer than a human can fly. Remember there is no washroom on the jet planes so they pee into a bag and pilots can’t do #2 so they have to regulate their diet accordingly. These are all part of pilot training and not all NATO countries has long duration flight capabilities. Drones are a lot cheaper to fly compare to jet planes and reduces the requirements of jets and there is no risk.

      What makes anti-missile systems only "somewhat useful" is that the criterion for success is _extremely_ high when you are talking about stopping missiles with nuclear or chemical warheads. If you can stop 99 out of 100 incoming nukes, that one which gets through will wreak unacceptable damage. Moreover, the costs required to field a system capable of stopping 99 out of every 100 nukes is astronomical compared to those needed to deploy 100 nukes.
      Making weapons to defeat defensive systems is always cheaper and easier than to develop systems to protect against those weapons. Equipping a platoon of infantry with harquebuses capable of shooting through plate armour is a lot cheaper than equipping a squadron of knights with armour capable of stopping most projectiles at reasonable ranges.

    The Turkish army really teaches the world about how the war should be and how it should be with the new generation of high technology. With their fantastic war strategies and deadly drones and achievements in Syria, Libya and Karabakh, they showed the world the modern warfare. In other words, this also shows us that wars in the world cannot be won by traditional and old methods as before. Turkish Drones, just like hunting eagles, hunted all tanks and armored vehicles in the enemy army one by one like little sparrows. These drones seem like an engineering wonder. You can never defeat and stop an army that fights effectively in this way! .. I admire the Turkish Army for this reason and for its unmatched brave soldiers.

    5:26 The word *Kamikaze* actually means _divine winds_ or _spirit winds_ . This term has its origins in 1281 battle between Japan and joint Mongol-Korean-Chinese armada under Kublai Khan. At that time overearly typhoons had destroyed the invading armada and had saved the Japanese. That too two times. The Mongols didn't invade Japan after that! The same term was used by Japanese AF pilots to carry out suicidal attacks on enemy ships and facilities during WW2 thus the term got associated with 'suicidal attacks'

    The bayraktar drones decimated the Pantsir systems of Armenia almost at abandon and later on when there was no cover of anti-aircraft systems left then Azerbaijan went in with its conventional figters to bomb positions. A drone swarm can also overwhelm the air defences since its far cheaper than fighter jets you can send 40-50 drones and then the anti-aircraft systems won't have a the bandwidth to deal with such a large number of threats at one time.
    A lot of lessons to be learnt from this. Turkey must be given credit, it has developed its entire drone industry (Bayraktar) and missile system (Rocketsan) from scratch in just the past 10 years. We need to open this sector up to domestic private players ASAP rather than being dependent on Israel and the US. Because when the time comes and you have 10 drones while the other country has a 100 then it won't matter however technically superior and expensive your 10 drones are you won't be able to handle 100 drones. Domestic drone production is essential since it gives us the capability to induct vastly large number of drones.
    Finally having low cost anti drone systems (flak based, like a simplified version of the Oerlikn from Rheinmetall ruclips.net/video/BgdWNryUhr0/видео.html) would be essential to have deployed in large quantities in forward areas.

      @@ThePrintIndia On the morning of 10 November 2020, protesters seized the parliament building and pulled Mirzoyan from a car, demanding to know the whereabouts of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who announced a peace treaty with Azerbaijan just hours earlier to end the Nagorno-Karabakh War.[4][5] Mirzoyan was beaten by a mob and was later taken to hospital, where he underwent surgery and was said to be in a good condition.

    Russia never came to the defense of Armenia. They wanted to introduce their "peacekeepers" at the end to assert control.

      Why would they? The war was in the territory of Azerbaijan. Russians would according to treaty with Armenia if it was visa versa and they stated that many times
