Baldur's Gate 3 - Tiger Barbarian vs Raphael Solo Tactican

- Initially I wanted to play with a 2H Weapon, but that Bhaalist Armour that makes enemies Vulnerable to Piercing damage is just crazy. They are normally resistant to fiz damage, but Bonespike Gloves ignore those resistances. Crimson Mischief is also crazy good. Deals piercing damage and 7 dmg when attacking with advantage, which I have thanks to Risky Ring (can also use Reckless Attack). Advantage + The Dead Shot Bow + Champion gives you 28% crit chance (ofc can get even more). With Tiger Heart you can make spammable AoE attacks while you raging and they make enemies bleed (lvl3). At level 6 with Tiger Animal Aspect, You add an additional Strength modifier against Bleeding or Poisoned targets.
I made some restrictions to make game harder (lol).
- No powers: Ye I had almost full Illithid Tree taken, but I couldnt respec it and I turned off all passives. I think only Favorable Beginnings was on and I couldnt turned it off, but I already had crazy attack accuracy, so it didnt do too much there.
- No Elixir: Normally Id pick Elixir of Bloodlust here to have another action in a turn when I kill someone. I used POTION of Speed in the battle, otherwise battle would be alot harder.
- No Prep: Id have different build if I could prep. Id go for 8 Tiger Barb and 4 Champion Fighter (or BM). lvl 7 barb gives +3 to init and cant be surprised so its almost Alert Feat and 8 just for Feat. I go thief here just to pop potion and coat weapon with bonus action on the first turn.
Base stats:
17 Str, 16 Dex, 8 Con, 8 Int, 14 Wis, 10 Cha.
Feat: +2 Str ASI
+1 Str Hag's Hair, +2 Str Potion from Araj Oblodra, +2 Str Broken Promises potion from Auntie Ethel (After Long rest its -1 perma), +2 Dex from Mirror, Set Con to 23 from Amulet of Greater Health. - Игры
I like the way Raphael become the benchmark of BG3 builds
Kind of, at this point you can pretty much solo him with anything if you have the right equipment and items. I hope we get more difficult bosses uwu
At least better then some ppl show their builds on the Nautiloid against imps.. lol
The thing is he is the hardest to kill. If you beat him you beat anything.
@@lingthone particular RUclipsr right? lol
@@cleiru7859 Sshh.. no comments, but i really prefer to see ppl testing their builds on worthy enemies like Bosses or at minimum Goblin Camps for early build's or Githi creche..etc, its no point telling me a monk's awesome punch will 1 shot a 6 hp imp.. even a bloody wizard quarterstaff does that.
I love this. Every other one of these vids is just some minor variation of Phalar Aluve and mind sanctuary. This looks like a genuine “I’m a monster” build.
I think this is your best showcase. The build shines here more than the gear. I liked the no illithid powers restriction too and that there wasnt any pre-buffing.
Bhaalist armor is indeed awesome but i think this build still works even if the player didnt get the armor.
Applause and thumbs up. This actually looks more like real dnd.
I'd personally want more showcases like this. Then if you're up for more challenges, perhaps gear restrictions next like naked, semi-naked or scaling gear.
My thoughts exactly and thank you!
@@rimservices i think more and more people realize how jarring the strength of larian's itemization is that it makes the game more and more unrecognizable from dnd and closer to diablo 4.
like a plain +2 sword is a big deal in dnd. lol!
Agree with the comment that the build is more important then the item.
@@TheRobversion1 I agree but it’s also an rpg with no dm to get brutalized by the players, I think it was a good game choice by them. Let the players feel powerful, besides a party of lvl 12 players are scary regardless of their magic items lol
@@ozylocz4078 true but it kinda kill build theorycrafting which was one of the fun things to do in dnd. Heres its gear theorycrafting and abusing bugs. I just personally prefer builds where the class abilities and spells shines more than abusing gear/illithid powers. That feels more like dnd to me and less diablo. Sometimes there are even builds solely based on items like the goombastomp builds.
I remember finding this fight pretty difficult but that’s because I never thought to paralyze or hold monster on him. I remember trying to take out the pillars while 10 enemies attacking us and then Raphael transforming as the pillars go down. Hoped divine’s intervention was probably the only reason we saw the end of that fight.
It was a really cool fight and I’m glad I went through it the way I did, such a thematic boss.
Probably the hardest aspect was keeping hope alive lol...The fight is ultra easy if you build your team right.
Always interesting to see Raphael solos, especially if you aren't giving in to pre-buffs and tadpole powers. I was actually wondering though I've seen a lot of classes do this but yet to see anyone manage it with a Druid focused build (so not counting 2 level spore dips for necrotic damage ontop of something else) do you think they can have enough nova to manage it? their kit always seems really centered around area control and flooding the field with summons.
I lost boal's benediction on my first long rest... is it not supposed to happen ?
@thorusin , thanks for video. How did you level this character, barb all way long?
Do you know what feat's you picked? I wish it showed that in details somewhere.
just FYI, aura of murder seems to cause pierce vuln even if someone is resistant so you could change those gloves.
i think raphael was buffed in this patch today, looking forward to what u can do against the buffed version
@thorusin what other feats did you use for this build? I see Duelling, what about Shield Master?
I liked how you killed Raphael at the high point if his song, very fitting
Only issue I have is the one prebuff you did which was drinking "Broken Promises" because it's a -1 after the next long rest. If it was a permanent +2 I wouldn't care but I have no other nitpicks.
Jesus....amazing solo fight, The damage??? Woooah!
Finally! A real stuff! Would be epic to make last barbarian hit with spoiled tart throw into Raphael's face.
Well played!
The Tiger Aspect only seems to add the extra strength to attack roles, not damage. Is it the same for you? Am I doing something wrong?
Ye I checked it right now and it only add str mod to attack roll. Shame it would be rly good if it added to damage, becouse there is no problem with high accuracy with all this buffs game throws at you.
@@thorusin It might be a bug! The same thing happens with Tavern Brawler when you are shapeshifted, so they both might get fixed at some point.
Another thing, I'm pretty sure Tiger's Bloodlust only deals half the weapon damage, which means half crit damage, so stacking crits on it isn't the best strategy. You should look into Whirlwind Attack on the Hunter Ranger. Its does pretty much the same thing, but full weapon damage and a circle AoE.
@@Aestus_RPG Yea for sure Hunter Ranger would aboslutely destroy them here I recorded Volley video and didnt wanted to repeat that. Tiger's Bloodlust halves weapon dmg and str mod, rest of the damage like dueling, scarlet remmitance is full - probably bug as well.
@@Aestus_RPG And I agree crits didnt do too much here, it was mostly mod damage that it wasnt doubled by crits. It was nice to paralyse Raphael, so he dont move rather than for damage.
@thorusin I don't think that is a bug. It's only halving damage dice (1d4, 1d8, etc) not flat bonuses (+2, +7, etc)
I assume the "Scarlet Remittance" buff is from the "Rhapsody" dagger? Does the effect last after unequipping the weapon?
yes
If you wanted a two-hander, you could use the legendary trident, or that invisible pike.
that would be worse than his one handed dagger, that dagger deals 7 flat dmg if you have advantage and he has perma advantage on bleeding targets because of bhooal blessing, so his dagger hits more than a two handed weapon. Also he would just die without the shield.
@@BaphominxGWM would be better that this though, you would get far more damage per hit, and would be pretty likely to get 2-3 extra hits from the bonus action attack.
To avoid dying you just need to play a little sneakier. Pop an invisibility potion and an elixir of blood lust before the fight, and you’d start of with 4 actions. 8 attacks + 2 bonus actions with vulnerability would be over 600 damage without bonus damage or crits, so Raphael would likely go down first turn. Invis would give you surprise, so you can then take out Yurgir and a couple of cambions without taking any damage at all.
Love the build, any reason for going dark urge? or just felt like it?
Dont need Durge, it was just my another playthrough.
Is the range of Tiger Bloodlust depend on weapon reach?
Hi, cool build! One question, why str over dex? Is Tiger's additional str modifier so much important? Can it be 22dex and 20(18 without ethel potion)str on this build with more AC, ini, etc.?
They throw str bonuses at you in this game. like +4 from pots, but its str only. You can go dex sure, this sword is finese weapon, so it can use dex. Then you can keep str very low dont have to be 20 it might be 10-12 as well.
@@thorusin +4 from pots? I know about the astarion one but what else are you referring to? just the mirror?
@@pognava Its Broken Promises pot from Auntie Ethel cave after you beat her. It gives +2 untill long rest and then is perma -1, so use if you know you wont be doing any long rests.
@@thorusin so in general, in normal play, max str is 22 as the -1 is way too big of a downside right?
@@jakatursic5479 There is mirror that gives +2 to any stat. I used it for +2 dex, but you could use it for +2 str. And 24 is the cap I tried all those buffs and wont let me past 24.
I love this build. definitely want to solo the game with this. I feel like there might be better rings. and the AC feels a little low tbh
Almost all the items you need for this are in act 3
you cant do the ignore magical resistance till act 3 but the rest has lesser alternatives throughout
Pretty sure this build doesn't work anymore, I'm using Bhaalist armour + bonespike gloves and it shows vulnerability to piercing but it doesn't apply. It just negates the resistance, but no vulnerabiliy, either it's bugged or they patched this combo.
Do you use a mod to level your characters? If so, which one? Your builds are crazy awesome!
Probably has save files he loads from
Ah, that makes sense. @@lolookphor
So far my favorite build. Just straight up killing wothout the use of complicated mechanics prebuffing and 30 conditional buffs.
This made me sub 👌
Thinking the same, I think the game is more fun if go "blind" into everything. No weird preparations for a fight you should not know is coming and stuff you would generally call meta gaming, live with bad rolls in conversations and how they influence your playthrough and stay away from abusing mechanics. Dipping a weapon into actual poison that happens to be there or something is fine, using a fking candle from your backpack to get extra fire dmg is stupid. But thats just how I approach the game.
Could I ask why you max strength? I thought crimson mischief scaled with dex?
It's finesse so it can use either (whichever is higher)
your armor and gloves makes them vulnerable to piercing, if u used the illithid power that makes them vulnerable to all attacks does that stack?
no you cant make them "super vulnerable" for x4 more dmg :P x2 is max, well then you can crit for another x2.
Edit: Crit is not exacly x2, it doubles only dice rolls it dont double damage mods.
@@thorusin i thought so but just to be sure i asked also, you need the gloves to use that armor if i understand it right? cuz if they're resistant then the armor doesnt work..?
@@BillordoR6 Mby you dont even need gloves, game is so buged after all. I just have them just to be sure.
I did somethimg similar with a palidain fighter theif mix. Used alot of save scumming to get certain iteams i was a githyanki if that says anything dark urge for clock( im sorry but that first clock the dark urge gets is one of the most broken items in the game free invs after kills sigh me up
your wildheart build until mid game (the cc is amazing!) them swap to this build, thanks to you I'll finally overcome my game ocd on bg3
just an explanation: I tend to restart my games over and over again until I find a build I enjoy, I rarely finish RPG games because of this (the last one that I finished was Disco Elysium and Pillars of Eternity, Disco I restarted only 2 times but Pillars of Eternity... I think I restarted 17 times)
hahaha same! I've gotten to act 3 without finishing it and since then played Act 1 on like 10 different characters. I just want to play a different build more than the last like every other day. And I blame Phalar Aluve for that for being so insanely strong, flavorful and versatile
Closing in on 300 hours since launch. Reached Act 3, four times, never gone past act 3 starting area. Always restart. FML.@@juliesauv
which wildheart build has good cc until lvl6?
@@mahe4 ruclips.net/video/DRvD7Yy6-y0/видео.html and If you add tavern brawler you get +4 to hit with primal stampede.
Do i need the same gear to archive this??
Ye this gear helps alot here. Armor and gloves make enemy vulrn to piercing even if they were resistant. Sword is also very good.
damn you face him like a king
How can you sneak attack while surrounded .. im confuse😮
You just need advantage or ally next to the enemy then you dont even need adv. Being surrounded doesnt impose disadvantage.
Im subs now man.. for your flash reply 😅😂
why take 6th level barbarian only gives you an extra rage charge , i took lvl 4 fighter for the extra feat
Level 6 Animal Aspect Tiger - You add an additional Strength modifier against Bleeding or Poisoned targets. Id go 8 barb if I could prep, but I needed thief to pop pot and coat weapon first turn. lvl 7 gives "Alert" feat (barb is +3, alert is +5 initiative) and lvl 8 well just feat.
@@thorusin oh ok forgot that wildheart gets something at Level 6 my Bad
Was this build usable during levelling up to this point or just to showcase a level 12 build on this fight?
Im just respecing for this fight only, but yea this build is very useable earlier. Barb: lvl1 rage, lvl2 reckless attack, lvl 3 AoE attacks that makes enemies bleed, lvl 4 feat, lvl 5 extra attack, lvl 6 adding str mod to enemies that are bleeding, lvl 7 "alert" feat (barb have +3 alert is +5 to initiative), lvl 8 feat. Barb is crazy loaded with features early. Then you can grab like fighter for the rest of the levels.
@@thorusin does the STR mod is for attack roll only ? Or does it added to damage as well ?
Is there a guide for how to start this build?
create character, choose barbarian, max str, then dex and con
Where is 4d6 damage coming from?
How the f can you attack that many times in a single round??
Extra Attack, most martials get it at lvl 5. You can make 1 additional attack per action (green dot). Potion of Speed give you action for 3 turns. Arcane Surge give you action once per short rest if you have lvl 2 fighter. There is also Elixir of Bloodlust, but I wanted to make fight more challenging :P
@@thorusin oh wow thanks for the info
I just blasted them with 2 Archer Fighters and all the arrows of multiple targets I stole from the merchants. Easy win. Raphael basically the only one standing after 1 round.
So much Misses, 23 AC, Str 24, Dex 18, Con 23...?? Wow
25 AC I had pot of speed poped first turn
@@thorusinfor someone who is forever at Act 1.. Gitihi creche/Under dark/Gyrm Forge.. (i keep replaying), and hasnt been to Moon rise.. those gears are a stuff of dreams..
Could you explain how you get so many attacks in a turn ?
what companions leave if you get that armor?
**rawr*
This is reliant on him getting afflicted with crawler muscus and being paralyzed for crits right?
why you choise wild heart. not berserk ?
"Barbarian" with action surge and sneak attack...
+16 strength modifier ..... mod much??
That's the saving throw modifier. +8 from expertise, +7 from 24 strength, and another +1 from Cloak of Protection
@@guycxz im refering to the damage modifiers not the chance to hit one .. plus not the one for you .... I'm was checking how you could do 30 + 60 normal damage one 1 hit then ++++ acid fire bla bla bla. Smite can give you crazy bonuses ... but you doing 100 almost damage from regular attacks. As a pure barbarian ....nobody does that. Ive been mid maxing multi classing and i never saw any combo of barbarian able to do 100dmg per turn. weapon is around 21 dmg + strength +7 ....+ weapon mastery 10 , triple crit .. is still not 100 dmg. Also if you got weapon mastery and savage attacker . +strenght 2 from mirror +1 aunty ethel +2 from drow in the act2. 17 + 1 + 2 + 2 = 22 strenght ...unless your last feats you put 2 in strenght ...still. Your hitting Rapahel for almost 100 per hit everytime.
@@guycxz ok but how are you doing 60 dmg using crimson mischief. I'ts because you say ... no buff and you use haste and paralyzing poison for 100% chance to hit and crit. Show us your gear, how do you have so high AC and vulnerability. Your obviously not using Orins dagger because you have a shield and if you were using the bhaalist armor that would give you too low of AC as a barbarian.
I know the crimson mischief does +7 extra damage but does the game allow that bonus dmg to crit 3x half orc bonus + 2x for vulnerability + strength bonus .. its a fitness weapon. if you get the bonus from strength due to dual wielding then why not use orins dagger instead of the shield and use armour of agility.
nevermind, just saw the end of the video. I saw all your items, How do you have 18 dex and 24 strength?
after reviewing, your legit. I was just wondering how you did that much damage but its because of the paralysis half orc crit. the only thing is... you not getting hit that much by all the demons with 23 ac. that was lucky. I have 29 AC and i get hit all the time in boss fights.
Nice video. I should post the one i did killing gortash with 1 character and cazador with 1 character in 1 turn.
The build itself is very cool and cunningly put together, well done. However.
I wonder if it's possible to make such a killer build without multi-target arrows, illithid powers and/or Dark Urge playstyle buffs (like BOOOAL buff or this chestpiece), because I know for a fact I'll never embrace the tadpole and never play an asshole character.
And also without Broken Promises, because there is no way I'm drinking this at any point of the game except before the very last boss.
I'd rather see an "average adventuring enjoyer" killer build, with elixirs/potions/poisons/whatever else is commonly used by everyone, without tadpole/dark urge/one-time-per-game-use items. But for melee build, because we already have an awesome archer build like that on your channel.
Maybe a Monk with ki resonance?
this is as bear bones as it gets, and beyond broken promises, creator went out of their way to go giga ordinary imo.
calling Bhaal armor Dark Urge-esque or asshole is odd. I play strictly good play thrus (Saverok always dies), but becoming an Unholy Assassin entails killing a single character who is not undeserving of death with little consequence to the rest of the game.
@@Ausemere maybe, I'm already thinking to try monk, but would be cool to see if monk can wreck so much damage with limitations I described
@@Xohslol why would I become unholy assassin? I would never agree to this in the first place, no matter what I'll be asked to do. Doing literally anything for Bhaal cultists equals being an asshole in my book, because you saw what they're doing
@@Antares94 (spoilers just in case someone reading this is somehow not this far in the game.)
in this case it's literally manipulation. the route is the same as good with the sole exception of killing Valeria. you can buy the tunic and then immediately put Saverok (who is a scourge of the lands) to justice. double win given how easily Valeria was willing to let evil fester. you then gain access to the temple door door thru traditional "good" means ("I killed the tribunal of murder").
there is 0 impact in the game other than a character who you virtually never see again dying. your end-game allies don't even adjust because Devalla still supports you since you stopped the tribunal and cult.
if the concern is non-impactful morality, Valeria dying is strictly good for the world of Baldur's Gate. lawful neutral incompetence may as well be lawful evil.
Dueling builds are better with pal/lock.
I needed weapon with piercing damage, becouse armor makes enemies vulrn to that damage type and this sword is also crazy good.
I think any Boss, is basically a punching bag when you use Crawler Mucus.
No... I know everyone knows this.
Crawler Mucus didnt do too much here tbh. Most of the damage is from modifiers (that arent doubled by crit) and vulnerability. Poison just freeze Raphael he nicely stands in once place. I also have crazy accuracy so 100% chance to hit poison provide want that crazy. This fight is totally duable without it.
I killed raphael in 1 turn. Have it on my channel. It was warrior lvl 12.
Its cool fight to show builds. In Early Access I was doing it on Githyanki Patrol.
Let's be real, any build can do this using haste and karabasan's poison lol. We are not impressed.
