  • TORRE CERREDO 2650 / THE HIGHEST IN THE CANTABRICAN MOUNTAIN RANGE / PICOS DE EUROPA
    Spectacular ascent highly recommended.
Ascent to Pico Torrecerredo 2650 meters. the highest peak of the peaks of Europe.
From Poncebos to Bulnes, the Amuesa channel, the Cuetos del Trave, and the Jou de Cabrones Refuge in the Central Massif of the Picos de Europa.
The day before we arrived at Jou de Cabrones and after bivouacing we got up with the clear conviction of ascending Torre Cerredo. Getting to Cabrones is a serious effort and due to its remote location, it was necessary to take advantage of the good weather window.
    • REFUGIO DE MONTAÑA JOU...
The route from the surroundings of the refuge is not lost, we cross the Jou de Cabrones to the bottom to start going up a steep slope of loose stones and with shade early in the morning in search of the path to skirt Torre Labrouche and Torre de la Párdida.
Once bordering we are going to face the wall of Torre Cerredo where "almost without realizing it" we start climbing and looking up between the rock case there is no obvious path, however the milestones will guide us through the possible options .
Caution must be exercised due to the fall of stones that can occur and the climbs that we have to overcome as we ascend.
Steps of III and many of II, not very difficult, but with exposure, especially on the descent.
Special attention in some sections where if we do the route the climbing steps are more intense, it happened to us in one step and we climbed through a stronger area and however on the right as you climbed it could be saved... when climbing it seemed very broken and loose, but it was going well.
The views from the spectacular summit.
Special care on the descent for the same as the ascent.
We went down to the Jou Cabrones Refuge, in about three and a half hours we climbed to the summit and returned to the refuge.
On the web we will leave more data and photos, when we have the video on our RUclips Channel Exploring CORNERS.
We picked up camp and returned to Bulnes that same day, making more than 2000 meters of negative elevation gain, quite an experience
This high mountain route is demanding and exposed, so it must be kept in mind when planning and facing it.
We have made this tour as a family with children aged 7 and 9.
Thank you very much to all who encouraged us and we coincided on the route chatting and sharing mountain moments.
You can watch our videos on our RUclips channel Exploring Corners, and on our website for more information.
    Greetings.
