Thank you Ben for being you . I am so tired of all these RUclips evaluations being total BS . Very few people on RUclips actually give a true evaluation as they are pushing products for money , and are no longer being honest . I always appreciate someone who just speaks their mind and tells it like it is . In this new world of wokeness , it is refreshing to see someone not afraid to offend people with his opinions, and not pushing products for a paycheck . This is why I purchase your books and buy my guns from your Pro Shop whenever I can . Keep being you , and thanks for the review as I was looking at possibly purchasing this timer .
I can see the criticisms, particularly the speaker. It's definitely better suited as an individual timer than group. I do enjoy the extra features for dryfire practice and indoor shooting, I do hope they work on a better designed holder.
For someone who is rough on gear, I would say try the Kestral KST1000. It has a ear blistering loud beep and is design to take a beating, Only down side is it cost $300 but it's pretty bullet proof.
I haven’t found anyone local who owns the kestrel timer. I own plenty of kestrels so I know the company is good to go. I might have to take a shot with one
@@ajsomp yea, honestly it was a leap of faith in picking one up as no one I knew had one either, but my CED7000 Finally kicked the bucket after 11 years and my PACT died at a match because of rain.
In terms of hardware, firmware and software the Shooters Global timer is absolutely in a league of its own compared to the competition (my opinion as a professional embedded electronics engineer). The company behind it was also founded in Ukraine, and the timer is assembled in Poland, unlike most timers which is made in Asian sweatshops - so for the afformentioned reasons and political reasons I think it's the best option on the market. However, probably not the best for an instructor - more so for individual training and IPSC/USPSA RO's. I think the holder could be vastly improved if they made it so you slot the timer into a sort of holder, similar to how phone holder for cars are made to work - as anyone who has been running around with this on their belt can confirm that it will fall off the magnet holder, unless you secure it with rubber bands. Probably somthing that could be 3D printed now that I think about it, to attach to the existing magnet holder. Also, as others have mentioned, the buzzer is on the backside - so when it's on the magnet holder the buzzer will be attenuated a lot. If you hold it in your hand like an RO might do it will be louder.
asian sweatshops is 30 years ago. These days, asia corners the microchip design and manufacturing markets. More like assembled & programmed in Poland. Just saying..
@@ikeo1 Asia only has the semiconductor fabrication market with Taiwan and TSMC being the obvious market leader. As for semiconductor design the united states is the clear market leader dominating the semiconductor design market at >50 percent market share. Korea, Japan and the EU have a combined market share of around 40 per cent comparison. As for the industrial machines in the semiconductor fabs that actually produce modern semiconductors they are almost exclusively produced by ASML Holding which is a European corporation that have a quasi-monopoly on photolithography systems. So similar to most other industries, the factories are situated in asia (Taiwan and S-Korea mostly), the machines for the factories are produced in Europe and the Designers/Engineers are mostly in North-America.
The magnetic holder is obscuring the mic on SG timer. The beep is much louder if you remove it from the base. It might not work for your use case if you need the timer to be clipped to the belt, but I found it to be loud enough to run other shooters as an RO.
@@SteveMiles yeah, I understand that. The point I was trying to make is my SG timer when not attached to the base is (subjectively, I didn’t measure it) as loud as AMG Commanders and CE ProTimers. And it’s louder than CED7000s we have.
When it’s not on a belt it’s quite loud. I heard they are planning to change the magnetic plate so it redirects the sound. And the features it has are amazing
PACT has always been my favorite. Simple. Only problem I’ve had is when the start button gets mushy after a while. Sensitivity kinda sucks to set as it’s in the battery compartment, but most people don’t have to adjust that
I have it since the beginning. I have the same thoughts. Moreover, I stopped using it but kept it in my range bag together with 3 other timers. It got scratches on the screen from nothing. I contacted the manufacturer explaining that it should be rugged device considering it's purpose but they refused to exchange my screen. Gimmick 😊
I reserved my thoughts and money on the 507 comp didn’t think much of it cause anyone worth their salt didn’t put information out on it , the moment Mr.Stoeger gave the green light on it ,I placed a order as soon as I could. Now you can’t find them anywhere. So when Mr.Stoeger lands on a timer I’m picking myself on up too.

I'm a big fan of my PACT Club Timer III. It's easy to setup, displays all the info I need, belt clip works well and has a loud beep.
same, PACT is easy and simple in all the right ways.
Pact timer always seemed easy reliable screens on top when look down at belt and not remove the timer to see
If you take of the timer from the magnet part it will be louder. In my opinion one of the best timer I‘ve ever used. Just give it a second chance.

The recent RO function is pathetic to be honest. Not very useful.

This is correct. The timer is significantly louder when it is not on the belt clip.

If it doesn't have bluetooth it's just another overpriced chronometer.

Apparantly the magnet has been made stronger and a special cutout made to increase the beep sound.

There is no dedicated start button either which can screw your up. It’s good as an individual timer though once setup.
Also running the Pact. No complaints.
Pact timer has been great for me and super rugged for me even after multiple drips

Just get The AMG. Best timer out there now.
Being able to pickup my dryfire trigger sounds is great.
Have you tried the kestrel timer?
I've had to solder my PP2 back together twice. Still like it but yeah it breaks.
The new version released recently is much louder they say…
you could probably increase the retention with .5" square of velcro.
Ben, might be good to try the AMG labs timer with the aftermarket holster for it
Where can you even find them in stock?
It's a good timer but the beep isn't very loud. On a crowded line I can't hear my own beep from my belt sometimes and I have normal hearing.
@@slowslowslowrobot good to know
Have exactly the same issues with the timer! Other than that, great concept and a lot of potential.
Reviews by Ben. He will tell you if he doesn't like something :) I have to give them credit for sending it to you to review though.
What do you think of he PACT CLUB TIMER III
Alibi: What would a new shooting league look like in your mind, just asking for a friend. LOL
What's about Kestrel one ?
AMG COMMANDER FOR THE FUCKING WIN IM GONNA MAKE A VIDEO ON IT STAY TUNED
CED 7000 goes pretty well
this is the one i got, worth a try. Always wondered if there was some magic to all the competition products being so huge
Hands down best timer. HOWEVER, might be too much of a learning curve for many of the high level shooters.
Maybe amg lab commander next?
Also quiet beep.
Still use one myself but they are flimsy overpriced junk. Going to upgrade to a kestrel and move on with my life lol
Ben try DAA CED 7000 timer.
Kestrel timer for the win 👌🏼
Agreed, loving mine
Pact.
Pact!!
You should check the new U-Grip magnetic grip they offer. Stronger sound amplifier 📣 and stronger magnets 🧲
