Monte San Primo is the highest mountain in the Lariano Triangle and with its 1685 meters it offers hikers a privileged observation point towards a panorama that has no equal: the gaze can range 360 degrees from nearby Lake Como to the Alpine arc. On beautiful days with clear skies the view can even see the Apennines towards the south.
The path to Monte San Primo starts close to the refreshment point at Colma di Sormano, in a slightly lower position than the car parks.
This first part of the excursion is very simple and suitable for everyone, even in the presence of snow. At Alpe Difesala there are many meadows and slopes, which is why it lends itself to being a destination for families.
Continuing on the cemented mule track, you now begin to gain altitude and the view over Brianza opens up to embrace Milan, the plain and the Apennines.
From this point the mule track becomes a path, however never exposed, and with steeper slopes you cover the last 100 meters of difference in altitude.
To get to the summit of San Primo, from this point, it takes about half an hour and in particular the last part before reaching the summit cross is steeper, but never exposed.
Once up, however, the view is truly incredible: there is the lake, of course, but you can also see the entire Alpine range very well, from Monte Rosa to Monviso, up to the Apennines. On the other hand, Grignetta, Grignone and Legnone make their appearance. Towards the south, the nearby Monte Palanzone and Monte Bolettone are clearly visible.
