Yo same, I kept trying to find anime with a happy ending and then I stumble upon this. Made me cry for dayzzzz. Then I watched the movie and was crying for even longer cause of the memory loss but they still ended up together.
The beginning of this scene highlights the consequences of fearing what we don't understand. Mirai, whose clan was ridiculed and even murdered for what they could do. Yet Akihito could see who Mirai was as a person even when she viewed herself as a monster. And that's what makes this scene so beautiful and heart breaking to me.

I suggest Golden Time because of its realistic views in an anime but it's up to an individual! I personally enjoyed the anime :)
