The only newer SOG that I've owned was the Tac XR and I loved it. It had awesome action and great fit n finish. I was very surprised how awesome it was. The Terminus XR is a good looking knife. SOG definitely seems to have turned things around. That OTF they have coming out looks and sounds awesome. No blade play out of an OTF that isn't $2000 (G&G Hawk Deadlock) is very impressive. Great video once again Triple E!
I believe they switched out the clip on all their Terminus models and have made some refinements based on feedback. Would you recommend the D2 version for $50 if the clip thing was solved and the action was smooth like this one?
The example I bought straight from SOG had a slight uneven grind and the edge felt like it wasn't deburred well. It kind sucks because I've had a hard time re-profiling to 15 DPS and getting the kind edge I want on my sharpmaker because I really like the weight and size of this LTE version but I only cut 4-5 feet of cardboard on the factory edge before it was hanging up in a cut. Now I feel I have to completely redo the sharpening a few times just to give the knife a fair chance where as on the knives I own in s35vn, 20cv, s30v and m390 I can get a bit of use and light stropping for at least a few weeks of use breaking down boxes before they need a touch on fine ceramic and never felt I had to got straight to re-profiling on diamond. I might have to set this one aside until I get a guided system or I send it off to get resharpened, and that sucks on a new knife I really like otherwise.
Sorry you are having to deal with that. It could be the edge got overheated during grinding and it needs a few sharpening to wear that edge away. Several production knife brands have that issue from time to time.
Im usually not the “ I don’t buy made in China” guy, but at that price point Im just going to but something US made. The original XR at $55 was at a perfect price point to where that Wasn’t a problem.
Deka’s axis-style lock feels better quality. Bugout feels most familiar and most fidgety. SOG feels a little odd because it’s different but once you get used to it, it’s good in its own right. Even though Hogue’s lock feels better quality than Benchmade’s I still like the feel of Benchmade’s the best.
The only thing I totally Dislike about that SOG and alot of them is their deep carry clip. If your pocket hem is thicker than dress slacks as in denim jeans or Duluth Firehose cargo pants, it won't fit on the pocket. And I've talked to SOG about it, their response was, "We have no plans on changing the pocket clip or having a clip for thicker pockets." So I will not get one or advise anyone that has thicker hems on their pockets not to bother. I've brought the problem with the clip up to them frequently since I got the SOG-TAC Auto. And I ALWAYS get the same response. They make good knives and multitools but I won't get most of their folders for that reason.
Wish SOG would knock it off with the billboarding. We don’t need their name and or words all over the clips and blades. I like this model but it’s a turnoff.
Getting rid of that God awful clip is a step in the right direction, but they are still trying to fit an entire encyclopedia on the blade, and on the show side to boot. More companies need to take notice of how We/Civivi has nice clean blades.
This is exactly the review I was looking for: I agree that the natural competitor is the Bugout.

I really want to try the OTF for sure
Looks like a Colt 1911...LOVE it! 😍
Was interested in this knife before, but for some reason I just don't even consider it anymore. Nice review.
Best part of the knife is the fidgetability which many people seem to have as high importance. Flipper, studs and Xr flip deployment. Ooooo

Yes. For sure. I’ll have to look back into these if these fixed the clip without raising the price.
Great review really enjoyed your take on the knife. I hear some people like the flipper action and other say its very bad.
Great video 👍
Sweet knife
Thats nice knife.

I totally get that. There are a lot of good US made knives at this price point.
Please do a review on the Kiku XR LTE 😃 👍🏻
I would love to. I don’t have that knife though and not sure when I could get it.
Have you reviewed the Houge Deka yet? I only ask cause I'm the NFG Lmao 🤣 to your channel. I like your reviews.
Welcome to the channel and thanks for the compliment. Yes, I have a review of the Deka and also have a video of the Deka v. the Bugout.
I only ask cause I wanted your take on the Able Lock 🔐? Thanks lok

This deep carry clip I did not have any issues with. The one on the other version I reviewed last year had the problems you are describing.
For $144+ you would hope tp get 100% carbon fiber scales. Not g10/carbon fiber inlay. I want one but that always holds back from purchase.
The liners and scales are full carbon fiber. No g10
I wish i had never bought my SOG-TAC XR... this is leagues above that for a similar price 😭
Yeah. It’s interesting what SOG is doing. Some good and bad in their lineup. It’s kind of hit or miss.

I agree
I swear that even sog called themselves sog for the longest time instead of s.o.g
Exactly!

I agree with you 100%
The good, the bad, the nick Shabazz wannabe
