I’m watching this nearly 13 years after his passing. He was just on my mind this morning so I sought this out not even knowing it existed. A legend, indeed.
I always saw God in Ollie Woodson, I Love Ollie Smile. A Good and Kindhearted Man. My all time favorite song is Treat Her Like A Lady. Simply Beautiful knowing how we should be treated. Following Ollie Career was Amazing Ollie is A Legend! The Voice! I would love to know more about the Songs He wrote. I would like to know more about Ollie Woodson Biography one of our Legends. To Ollie’s family your father was a Blessing to the World, One of the Greatest God Gifted To us, may God continue to Bless and give you peace. His voice was Amazing . His Voice, sounds Awesome up to the end. Now that was God to has throat cancer 3 time and never loss his Amazing Voice. Singing was his talent and Gift. One of a kind. A Legend Ollie Woodson. (unsung TV One.)
Thanks for posting I actually worked Ali Ollie Woodson’s funeral. I used to love when he would sing at church before Bishop would preach. I remember one time we had a fashion show at the church and Ali Ollie sang Treat Her Like A Lady. Everytime he would come to the back to talk to us in the audio booth he would always say Hi baby girl. One of the nicest people I ever met.
Ali Ollie Woodson ♥; he was larger than large, he was greater than great. What a mellow voiced man we had; he was definitely one of the rare vocalists who will hit high notes with the voice capable of ranging from smooth, to husky panctuated by sopranoic falsetto range. He was undoubtedly gifted. May his Soul rest in the peace of our saviour Jesus! Much love from; South Africa 🇿🇦
Ollie Woodson was one of a kind there will never be another like him.... I loved all his singing but soul to soul was my favorite, I listen to that song over and over...RIP ALIE OLLIE WOODSON...
What a great legend Ali "Ollie" Woodson was. Thank you brother for leaving such great music here for us. I loved his voice. Ali made every song "his own". Singing in the heavenly choir. God bless the family. Rest In Love Ali💖
I love The song "Treat her like a Lady". It sparked my curiosity and willingness to view coverage of his memorial service. He has a beautiful family. RIP
I didn't know Mr. Ali had pass until I decided to google the man behind the voice of his song "Treat her like a lady'' it was then I found this video. THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO! I also saw a video of his testimony how God healed him from cancer about 3 times proof that he was a man of God. I know Mr. Ali is in heaven singing his song "Treat her like a lady! :-)
Ali probably had the purest natural range of all the Tempts lead singers. David is probably most remembered b'cuz of not only his great voice, but also those memorable '60's Motown songs imbedded in our brains forever. Props to them all.
The media is a strange animal I've witness this in my own story....This was a beautiful tribute for a beautiful man who could sang not "sing".....Thanky for bring his home going.. One Love
He was such a nice man. I met him on a cruise. He was with beautiful wife and son. He could do a great rendition of Bernie Mack and would tell me I looked like his sister Sister. He also gave me an autographed pic of him . Thinking of you sweetie. It's been 8 years but I still think of you.
I met this brother years ago, in Minneapolis, at the Carleton Supper Club out on the 494 strip near the airport performing with the Temptations. I was so impressed that I just had to meet the brother. I guess age had made me cynical by that time because I just could not get over how easily approachable & down to earth this brother was. Gone to soon; but I can see how well loved and respected he was with those who knew him well. He would be pleased with the way they sent him home. RIP Ali Ollie.
Love your comment at the end regarding the trivial garbage that passes for news about the silliness that accompanies the "lives" of pop stars black and white while so many legendarily gifted performers like Ali Ollie Woodson continue to soar under the radar even in death. So GOD Bless you for blessing us with this tribute to a truly, uniquely, multi-talented man. Great job!
Just found out Ali had passed about a month ago...Unbelievable..disappointed in the media, The temptations and the publishings.. so disrespect able of a giant celeb. a real brother. Rest in peace Ali.. YOU WON ANYWAY!!!!!
Ollie Woodson and I worked together. I as a promoter who hired him on many occasions to perform. I was a huge fan and if I had my way I would have had him perform at every show. I loved him, his aura, his kindness and gentlemanly way. We became good friends. I miss him and think of him often. I just stumbled upon this video. I'm sitting her with tears. I have a recording of him performing a tribute to Luther Vandross I'm going to play today, the 1st day of 2024 and just remember how blessed we all were to have known and heard this man sing. No one like him. "Where's the cookies"
This shows why we can't depend on the media to honor and respect the truly great contributors of our community. RIP Ollie. Black history is really America's history. The sooner the powers to be respect and acknowledge this the better off we are. Frank Sinatra had a song titled "Luck be the lady". Ali Ollie had a song titled "Treat her like a lady". Tempting Temptations Forever... Amen
Hearing that great Choir reminds me when my mother (especially) and other close family members passed (Grandmother, cousins, uncle,...) each time I recall saying (to myself during the services) "I can't even enjoy this great choir for the fact my fricken ____ is gone." BTW, Ali Ollie is the voice of a lifetime, Do yourself a favor and find his great music with the Temps. I own dang near all of it, to include a solo CD he released. Great HomeComing Ceremony!
It is so true I had no ideal Ali had passed, incredible. I was a great admirer of his work. A gifted and talented vocalist, that I really enjoyed listening to. I tell his family to stay encourage and to that wonderful Brother Rest in Peace your fight is over.
Ever since I found out he passed I couldn't watch this but I guess today is the day :( rest in peace to my all time favorite and all time favorite temptation we love you Mr. Woodson see you again someday I know your tearing down the house in that heavenly choir
I am saddened to have only just heard of his passing now April 2015, such a beautiful and powerful voice. I have recently started to appreciate these great artist and am very appreciative that I was brought up with this lovely music. Rest In Peace Ali Ollie Woodson thankyou for blessing the world with your beautiful voice, heart and soul
This was indeed a great tribute to one of the best all-time lead singers for The Temptations. Ollie possessed an angelical voice 2nd to none. I was searching You Tube for a song Ollie sung and wound up watching this in it's entirety. Now, what's ironic to me , is the fact that I read through all the comments here and not one person mention the incorrect information one of the narrators gave on Ollie's background (not that it's a big deal) however, you would think the information you're giving of this nature would be accurate. I knew all about Ollie singing with The Drifters but, he NEVER sang with Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes replacing Teddy P as stated.
I'm stunned because this is the first news that I have received of his passing away! This man influenced me majorly! What a Loss but thank God that he lived. Rest in Heaven Mr. Woodson...
Eric, thx so much for putting this together for all of us to enjoy. It was a gorgeous tribute to a voice that will never, ever be forgotten. Rest in the paradise of God's eternal love, Mr. Woodson! Enjoy your reward of sining in the heavenly male chorus of joy & peace! We love ya! Angie Mitchell, Dallas, Tx
RIP We truly was bless with a great voice/man of soul, He always belong to God we just borrow him for a little while. Ali you will be missed but never forgotten, Prayers and blessing to your family.
What a beautiful service for a fantastic entertainer! RIH Ollie; I always loved your voice. On another note, if I am not mistaken, I believe I read that no current or former member of the Temptations attended the service. Sad.......
Yes, Diane, I heard that as well. I did hear from someone else that the Temps were performing that night in Las Vegas and that Ron Tyson did come in for a few minutes. Yeah, that was sad testament to the Temps.
One of the best soul singers ever, I try to collect every CD he has made or performed on. It's sad to know there will be no more future music from this dynamic singer. but just the same, I keep a CD of his in my ride all the time. I'm a fan forever !
I had the honor of traveling with Ollie for 5 years as a member of his group. He had his flaws as we all do. But very few had his talent. Drummer, bass player, keyboard player, songwriter, he did it all as was better than damn near everyone RIP.
He had a good homegoing and seemingly well deserved. He was my favorite Temptations lead singer. My God-daddy used to love "Treat Her Like A Lady." This man could sang, sang, sang !!! Thank you for sharing this.
I am glad that someone finally covered some real news. It is nice to see this service for our brother Ali. A real story giving a great man the respect he deserves. Rest in peace Ali. See you when I get there too.
Toward the end of this vid, oh, what the man says, so right! Coverage of those like this man can pass on and head on home without a word, but crap like Lohan coloring her hair is top news. Thank you for this upload. God Bless You.
Awesome talent will be truly missed had the pleasure of playing guitar for him when he came to the UK a few years ago. An amazing musician inspiring and unique. Music has lost a champion Rest in Peace Sir.

Thank you, Eric J for sharing with the world Ollie's beautiful Homegoing service. It was such a befitting tribute to an incredible musician who was definitely "unsung". As you stated, a lot of his fans didn't even know of his transition due to the lack of media coverage. But that's ok because judging from the number of people at the service, that is a testament that he was well loved and will be missed sorely. Rip, Mr. Woodson. Sing pretty in that Heavenly Choir. Thanks again, Eric J.
I can say I was lucky to meet him at a concert. indianapolis,4-6-93. a night I will never forget. being the temps Nbr 1 fan,I got to sing my girl with them.

@MsFOXI He's been gone for over a year and a half now. He died on May 30, 2010 after a long battle with leukemia.
So, he died of Leukemia, maybe a complication of Throat Cancer? Where will you find another voice like that?

Thank you Eric
RIP Ali ....the greatest
I wondered what had happened to him like so many others I didn't know he had passed away RIP
I didn't realize that Ollie could sing like that!
This is sad indeed. I cried the whole time. I remember the Brotha from that 80's hit "Treat Her Like A Lady." He had that soul-stirrin voice that you rarely hear today. The only one that comes close is Jaheim-and you rarely hear him now. I also cried for not only for the death of a fine singer such as Ali, I cried for the death of the music industry as we knew it. Sad :-( May Allah give him Paradise for the happiness he has put in many ppls lives with his music.
Mr. Ali Ollie Woodson was a gift from Almighty God and Jesus Christ of Nazareth was his Lord and Saviour.
Child of God.
Many things could be said, but the absence of any current or former Tempts is conspicuous. Were they not there, or just not featured in the clips? The host is so right about how the media did not cover his death; it was several days later before I found out, from SoulTracks. This goes to show how things in life just don't seem fair sometimes, but we have to rest assured that God is in control and He has a reason for all, and we have to carry on in faith regardless.
Thanks for the video❣️ He reminded me of my father so I have always had a special place in my heart for Sir Woodson❣️
GREAT MAN, LOVED HIS VOICE, RIP OLLIE❤
@msjayelbee9 I hope Ron and others did attend. The host did a great job with this video, and it would have been more complete if there were an interview at the end with Ron or other current/former Tempts. Not sure what all the dynamics were at the time between Ollie and his family and the Tempts' organization, but it would have been great to have a group of Tempts to sing on program. Like you said, Ollie is in God's hands now. Peace!
RIP Allie
13:54 Magic, To God be the Glory
Thank you for bringing it to us
it would be jacked up if none of the so-called temps showed up.
He was sososo sososo phenomenal
