When I was a young girl I asked my sweet mom to wash my pajamas when she washed my sheets. When I got home from school, if I saw them drying in the breeze I would make sure I bathed and washed my hair before bed. It was BLISS snuggling into bed that night.

We lived in Sweden for 3 years and adapted the Swedish style of using a bottom sheet and a duvet with duvet cover. The Swedish duvet covers had slits at the top; you could reach through and pull the duvet through. We use 2 twin size duvets. It's much easier than wrestling with large duvets. I iron the pillowcases because I really like the crisp finish.

When I stay at a nicer hotel they use a fitted bottom sheet then an oversize flat sheet then on top of that is the duvet sandwiched between another oversize flat sheet. Makes it easier for the cleaning staff to change the sheets. I really like it (although I already have all my closed duvet covers which i love too).

My mother mailed me duvet covers and the feather beds for my whole family. Back when my 2 kids were young. I feel like my family didnt really adapt to them but I still have them all these years later. My family in German do have the separate duvet for beds that to are sleeping as well. My mom always woukd wash the white lace curtains we had. Back home all my relative use the dryer most of the time but still do maintain an area to hang some of their clothes. There are many things I wish I coukd bring here. ❤

Lüften - definitely a leftover from my mother! Turn the duvet cover inside out, first. Hands inside to the far corners and grab corners of the duvet with the corners of the cover. Easy to get the cover on after that. In Australia many of us just have a duvet inside a cover. I hang curtains back in place straight from the machine!

I also wash the windows at the same time & my curtains don't go back up till that is done, & I get outside & do the outside of them also! Things DO feel SO FRESH & CLEAN after a good cleaning! I also do the rafters, & walls, etc.... I cover everything with old sheets to catch the dust.

🌷 Hello Anja: good to see you in the midst of good air chores. I wanted to share a little story in which I remembered you.... You may have seen it in the media: in Brazil, in the southern region of the country, there were heavy rains and as a result floods, in the largest city and nearby locations. From above, a horse was seen on the roof of a house, standing still, surrounded by water... He was rescued (as well as other animals) later by firefighters and volunteers, and he is doing well!! Beautiful and hopeful!! Bye...

I have watched several videos on how to put duvet covers on and tried all. I end up putting them on exactly as you are in your video. My covers have a zipper rather than buttons. I love my sheets hung on the line, and all my clothes really. I remember mom hanging Daddys slacks on the line with stretchers, kept the wrinkles down. Love watching your videos.

When I use a duvet cover (I prefer the flat top sheet! so much easier) I have sewn little ties out of cotton twill tape in each corner, and then made a buttonhole in the corners of my down duvet - I thread the ties through and tie like tying a shoe. so, no clips. :-)

lol love this. When I lived in Germany we bought a king size pine bed. When they delivered it they brought 2 mattresses and I was so confused, but it worked perfectly fine for us. I turn the duvet and pillow covers inside out, then I reach in to the back corners, using them like Handschuhe, I grab the corners of the duvet or pillow and pull them in as I allow the covers to turn back right side out. I hold on, and shake it out, then line up the other two corners before zipping or buttoning. Hope that makes it a little easier for you?

I hate doing duvets too! However, it’s way easier doing it my way! I know as I’ve done it a ton and for five different beds! Yuk! Turn duvet inside out and lay over bed. Then put comforter on top attaching the corners with those same corner grips that you use. Then (and this is key), reach all the way through opening to opposite end corners and grip those corners and pull right side out! Voila! And shake. Like turning an inside out shirt the right way again. Easy!!

I have recently come to love line-dried sheets, towels, and clothes. The smell is wonderful.
I have German ancestry and I can't help but wonder if cleaning habits were passed down through the generations because my Grandmother and her daughters were wonderful housekeepers and I learned a lot from my Mom as well. Nobody in my family is wealthy, but homes were well-kept, clean, and the women in the family were great caretakers of their families. I hope I'm living up to their standards!

We are not practical like Germans… also we had season cleaning where each of the four seasons the house was thoroughly cleaned… fantastic if you can pay someone to do it for you but a pain to do yourself!
