Hey Jonathan! When I tell people I play Airsoft, they think of all the bad guns ( like the bright green "zombiez sh00tr 11" type things) and stuff that you can buy at Walmart and sporting goods stores. *How do I explain to them what our kind of Airsoft is without sounding arrogant?*
HEY!!!!!! I kind of like my zombie hunters. Their perfect for teaching kids. Rack it and shoot. It's much easier than getting a back full of full auto at point blank. Lol. But they are cheap as hell. Great question.
Make sure to use the word replicas, Gas blowback, Mil-Sim, attachments, and how cheap BBs are. I compare it to that scene in family guy where they all use Glocks on each other in the living room.
I use a pistol for cqb and its really good to have because u have the small pistol that is lighter then thier rifle so u can easily get your pistol up faster so its easy to get nice quick kills
I play at a large field, D14 in Texas if you've seen footage. Yesterday, I played alongside an older gentleman who used two pistols, a CO2 M9 and a KWA ATP. He did rather well, and was able to engage at a moderate distance and up close (and up close as in there is no bang rule, only a courtesy call) he said he did rather well, and enjoyed the day quite a bit. As for advice for the Loadout, make sure you have plenty of ammo and gas
I play at D14 as well and play pistol only. Its really fun for medium to close range as I don't like rifle lengths and weight. Just use a battle belt and you should be good to go.
I'm a huge advocate of CYMA. I've owned about 4 different CYMA AKs and each one - from plastic, pot metal, and real steel - treated me amazingly. Even the cheaper plastic one sliced through plastic trash cans. My favorite cost around $148 - www.evike.com/products/32091/ - the wood was real, the steel was stamped, and it shot just under 400 FPS. It was a tank. I don't know too much about JG, but CYMA is a good go.
Hey Johnathan! Big fan of yours! I've lately been getting different answers to the following question: When you increase fps, does that increase your range? Or merely how quickly a bb reaches its target? What are your thoughts on the subject?
Could you please start shooting the guns that you do reviews on. It would be nice to see how they actually perform. Congrats on the 100, and keep them comming.
Like the guy Above said, yeah.. they are worth it if you are using pistols. Rifles on the other hand... if we are talking Propane/green gas, definitely not. You only have a few months of the year to use them and the overall expense is pretty high. I talk from experience. I used to own a KWA MP7, WE G39 (the best one), KWA Kriss Vector. You are just at a serious disadvantage once you play with them agaisnt AEG. Because airsoft guns arent exactly accurate, most people spray the rounds which helps to hit a target, which is a luxury that GBB's cannot afford. You will be pinned, you will be suppressed and you will feel like you are outnumbered. Not to mention how often you have to reload due to the capacity of the magazines (typically 30-50 BB's). Im voting for your question because I get the feeling that Jonathan will say that they are worth it. He is just so optimistic.
Also, one big thing you need to be aware of with gas rifles (and pistols) is: temperature. If you live/play in a primarily cold (like 40-50F and below) area, you will perform poorly. You can get around this by using MAPP gas in a green gas gun, or CO2 in a CO2 gun, assuming that you can get CO2 gas guns that operate within your field's FPS limits.
GBBR may NOT shoot high. Examples are around 400 or lower FPS stock. If it is too high, most systems can use a NPAS system to decrease the FPS. (450 down to 400 (adjustable decrease on FPS)) Magazines will run you 40$-60$. Keep in mind the equation for price as- Gun $+magazine $+daily maintenance- durability(compared to opposing)+extras=Average Price
Not if your field has rules on magazine capacity :D.....and that levels the disadvantage totally...... We have max mid caps for AEG (and those go to 100 or so), but in some games we are allowed to load them just at 30 :)).....So taking 20 mags is not really an option for anyone :)).....Besides in a game i shot probably 50-80 bbs with an AEG that has 16rps....But then games are decided by the players so everybody will have fun......It all depends on the rules of engagement :)).....
So happy we've made it to 100 episodes! Please keep it going love watching, great content too! Any chance you could hunt down folks for some updated player spotlight?
No, you don't need to do it. It does have it's benefits though, mainly as far as accuracy is concerned. It clears the surface, giving the BBs better flying characteristics AND it keeps your bucking clean, so it applies Hop better. The bonus to accuracy depends on the BBs. Some brands of BBs (mainly heavyweights 36-43g) tend to have more residue, than others. Some might not have any at all. So it all depends on what BB brand you are using, and if the gain in accuracy is worth the effort. Hope this helps!
Hey Jonathon, I was wondering when you will return to Nashville? Its been a year. You gotta try out Nashville Airsoft indoor field! We all miss you! Love the show see you soon!
Hey there, I am just getting into airsoft and I am wanting to purchase a gun. I do have quite a bit of money to spend on it (total budget for the starting gear is ~$475 and I have allocated a maximum $300 of that to a gun.) I am thinking of getting a Krytac Alpha CRB because it is so much cheaper than the Trident and the full Trident CRB has too high an FPS to use at my local CQB field (370 FPS limit which they take extremely serious). Personally, I am wanting to get a bit more range and accuracy out of the CRB for when I do take it outdoors so I was wondering whether it would be good to get a tight-bore inner barrel (for better accuracy and FPS, which should mean greater range right?). I was wondering whether there would be any conceivable benefit to adding a tight bore which is longer than my outer barrel and then somehow attaching a suppressor on the end to cover it up. I guess I am asking what benefits would I get for my money by purchasing a tight bore and suppressor, and how I would install it. I have seen tutorials on installing the right length inner barrel but not how to extend the barrel and cover it with a suppressor. And if I knew what I was doing on the day how much hassle it would be to transform (cue transformers theme) the gun every fortnight or so. Also would you recommend another gun at that price point?
I bought a Baofeng uv-5r a few weeks ago, I was told that I would need a license to operate it. I don't want to use it because I'm not sure if it's true or not. Love your videos, keep it up!
The generation that made Airsoft great just got busy and grew up. I played every weekend from 2007-2013. Then I graduated high school and got a full time job and barely have time for relaxing. Most of my friends are in the same boat and others joined the military. All the little kids now sit inside and play video games. Of coarse there are outliers that still play but the majority have left and gotten busy. I miss it but my friends don't play anymore and it wouldn't be fun alone. The game is still great but life gets in the way.
Hopefully you can't get out sometime then man! I started airsoft, didn't have any friends who did it so I made new ones at the field. Having Friends on the field definitely changes the game :)
OH please, I grew up and thats when I started to play airsoft and even to this day still do. Your story isn't convincing at all. The game doesnt get in the way of life, Its the opposite. life gets in the way of the hobby. Which BTW you fail to remember.
Thanks Mr. Jonathan for the insight! Hopefully I get a chance to meet up with you at Gamepod My buddies and I love your shows and reviews! Keep up the great work! Happy 4th and 100th to you and yours!
12 Questions. 1. What are the rules about ricochets in Airsoft. 2.Would building an Airsoft gun from the ground up be a good idea,Could it be top tier, could it be better than store bought, would it be cheaper, and how would someone do that? 3.What do u think about Airsoft guns in Nerf gun shells? (An Airsoft gun that looks like a nerf gun) Do u think they would sell? 4.My VSR-10 mag broke and I'm finding mags that look like it but for other snipers, are those compatible with mine? 5.So brown gas is a joke but how did u get it? 6.In the older vids u had a silver thing in between the paint bullet and the bullets. What's that? 7.How do u feel about people leaving random questions that don't have to do with anything? 8.What do u think about Airsoft guns that cost $1000+ ,$2000+ ,$3000+ $4000+,and/or 5000+? 9.Will you make mondays longer? 10.I tried to watch the live stream but nothing happened,so how do you watch the live stream? 11.Are AK mags and M4 mags compatible? 12. Are you reading this?
Hey Jonathan, great channel and very helpful. I'm still green when it comes to airsoft and have learned quite a bit from your channel. But I was wondering if you could go over the basics of the different roles present in your typical milsim event. Currently trying to run as a marksman, but want to make sure I'm not better suited elsewhere on a team. Thanks
Considering how many people I know (including me) just getting into Milsims and more competitive airsoft I think it's just going through some guys leaving and new guys discovering.... like WOW.
Hey Johnathan! BIG congrats on episode 100!!! Anyways my question is: Since Co2 has such a hi pressure, how long do you leave it in your magazines before you start to worry about it leaking? What's the maximum amount of time you leave it in? Thanks, Logan
I've seen this too lol, it PISSES me off XD. Mostly because they almost seem to purposefully fucking blow it in my direction after taking a puff. The vaping imo is just rather irritating and arrogant, but the smoking is downright bad and disrespectful.
Dear Jonathan, Heres a question, What is the best way to sell a lot of old gear? I have lots of old gear in great condition that i would like to sell but don't know where to start. Thanks, Love the Channel! Please Answer!
Hey Jonathan. I have been researching the sport of airsoft for a month or so now and came across your channel. You certainly know your stuff and with your vast experience and knowhow, I have an idea for you. No matter how hard I search, there isn't a RUclips channel that introduces airsoft in an intelligent and meaningful way. Im talking from your first airsoft meet and what to wear, to equipment, to your first gun, sidearms, mods, the internals of the weapon...everything that researchers of the sport need or would like to know. So, how about a new series on your channel to help us with all of the unanswered questions we have? Airsoftology 101 maybe? Hope you consider my suggestion :)
Hey Jonathan, do you think the two types of Airsoft will ever mix? Such as a milsim in a gigantic indoor CQB facility. Love the show and keep up the great work.
Hey Jonathan, congrats on 100! I have set to go to a real large scale milsim (i.e Lion Claws, MSW). I was wondering for each faction, what are the uniform regulations that you see most often? This will help me decide what BDU i can get the most use out of.
You should come to the Summer Slaughter event in Oregon some year. It's our big summer swap meet event. Big turn out every year and lots of new players coming in.
For night games, two things: 1) Don't wash your clothes/gear with optical enhancers in them. These will make your clothes light up when hit with infrared light, which is what NOD uses. 2) Red light flashlights. Use them. They don't screw with your low-light vision, unlike white lights. Get a filter or a swappable head if you have an existing light.
See you at High Ground Jonathan. I have had that day requested off for two months now (did not know you would be there until i saw the poster there two weeks ago). I live about 15 minutes away. I just have to decide if I want to put a weaker spring into my Krytac SPR (shoots 395 every shot right now, but too hot for HGA) or use my not as good Evike Fighting Cat. Or I could even buy a Krytac CRB and swap it's spring (love Krytac's reliability and consistency). Love the show; been watching for a little over a year now.
Just watching your older stuff! I’ve tried telling people BB weights,Fps,the hop settings all change! Like vids where people compare buckings but don’t ever adjust the hop up fir .25 when they do it! The more Hop you use the less your FPS will be. The same thing happens with BB weights!
Hey Jonathon, I've got two questions I would like to ask you. 1st: Do you consider how much pain you are inflicting on your targets when changing your guns' fps? 2nd: Do fields allow you to wear infrared optics, so you can see enemy heat signatures?
Hey Jonathan do you think that there should be an age limit on how old you can be to play airsoft(no offense to you and other airsofters who are older)because I see a lot of fight videos where older guys that look their in there 40s beating up and pick fight with minors. Thanks and love the show
I'm closer to 40 than I'd like to say. I've been playing airsoft for just over 20 years. I've seen lots of young people with bad attitudes and just as many adults that I wouldn't trust with a water pistol. Young or old a person's age doesn't always directly reflect their level of maturity. Problems like that need to be dealt with on an individual level.
Here in Belgium it is allowed to play airsoft when you're 16 with your parents/guardians consent on a private field and on some (but almost none) skirms. So basically you can really get into airsoft when you're 18
+Ryan Griffith that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that older people assaulting minors, I'm not saying how mature they act. There is a difference between two teens fighting and someone who is older hitting a minor.
I have an airsoft sniper and plan to upgrade it. Should I go with accuracy upgrades (hop up and tight bore barrel) or power upgrades (cylinder and cylinder internals) first? If it helps I have a WELL L96. Many thanks from across the pond and congratulations on your 100th episode!
Hi Jon; I love the woven patches you had recently and I bought both of them, question is, have you found any other places that sell patches in the woven style? It seems fairly new.
Use a old school stock marui for outdoor play. Still works fine. Would like to up the FPS a bit, but even without it, I only notice the lower speed at really long distances.
Hey Jonathon I have a few questions for you. 1st What are your thoughts on using bayonets in airsoft? Good, bad, or unsafe? 2nd What do you think about using face paint? Do you think it works or not? And the last and most important question. Coffee or Tea?
Hey love the show. My question is when is the krytac mk2 spr going to come out? It's up on websites now but some say sold out and some say preorder. I have been waiting for months to get this gun and I need it by August for evike Airsoft camp. Keep up the good work!
Hay Jonathon. I use a full metal LMG and if you've used one, you know they are heavy! Any suggestions on what forgrip to use? I've found some of the polymer ones break easily. Thanks and congratulations on 100!
Hi Jonathan, recently I went to my local airsoft shooting range and found out my gun shoots 4 to 6 inches to the left. I tried moving my rear iron sight to the left but it did not help. I run a stock G&G cm 16 Raider long with .20g bbs. Thanks, love the show.
do you ever do video of the week on smaller channels ? most of them are large channels ! might be nice to see some of the smaller guys who make great videos get noticed by the popular channels !
Hey Jonathan, big fan. What do you recommend are a good pair of goggles/glasses for someone who has the ever annoying problem of fogging, keep up the good work bro
Im not sure if you've ever been there but i HIGHLY recommend coming to Ballahack Airsoft in Chesapeake Virginia for their Revelations 7 OP. It's Fallout but airsoft and this is allegedly their last Rev Op. (Dec 10-11)
Hello from across the pond! What are your thoughts on APS with their recent recall of their shell ejecting shotguns after they were modified to fire live ammo? Thank you for the patch by the way an keep up the good work - mongo
I had an A&K Masada that shot around 390 fps and I had to downgrade it to play cqb. The spring I got ended up making it shoot at 270 and I was trying to shoot people. They heard the gears and moved out of the way and I just watched my bbs fly past them as they took cover after hearing my gun.
Hey Johnathan, I've been playing airsoft for almost a year now and I've been trying to start milsim, there's a 16 hour op called operation fire horse in south Texas that I want to go to but don't know what I should get in terms of food to bring, what Midcaps to get since I run highcaps mostly, and what new gear i should get if any, (currently running cm16 raider, Baer arms 1911, and lancer tactical plate carrier) thanks and congrats on 100 episodes
Hey Jon, I've had some issues with P-stars at my field (mainly getting lit up on full auto within a few feet), and I think that this is becoming a larger issue nationwide. I know that some fields are becoming increasingly unfriendly to them, but do you think there is a solution to this problem aside from banning them?
Hi Jonathon Im going to be getting a custom gun build and am wanting it to be a hpa dmr as I play at fairly large feilds, are there any suggestions that you could give me for parts can be internal or external parts, the fps limits that i will be on will be from 450 fps to 500 fps, thanks and keep up the good work
Hey Jonathan, so i've been following Novritsch and noticed that he's playing a Milsim on an island....whats your opinion on this scale of a venue, could we see more of this level of airsoft in the future? also congratz on the 100th video :-)
Hi Jonathan, I own a kjw kp07 and want to add a suppressor, but the kp07 doesn't have a threaded barrel. Do you know what I can do to add a suppressor? Thank you, and keep up the good work.
Hey Johnathon, I was wondering what the major differences between CO2 and Green Gas pistols are and which you would suggest for someone getting a sidearm for the first time
Hey Jonathan, are you going to Operation Pegasus in Washington? I'm going with my local team and would love to see you there! Pre registration closes later this month so you might want to think soon!
i just got a new airsoft gun thats full metal. it has an orange tip that is nonremovable. i also have a tracer unit that i want to use with this gun. is there a way i can remove the orange tip and thread the barrel of my gun so that i can put the tracer unit on without ruining my gun?
So I just got a 500mm barrel for an A&K stubby killer... Could this effect my accuracy? I'm using .30 gram bbs at 350-370 fps. I have a lot of upgraded parts (motor, hop up, gears, etc). Please help and thanks
Hey Jonathan I was wondering if it's okay to clean an airsoft gun with regular gun oil. I didn't really think about it until I cleaned my sniper barrel and now the bbs drop after a certain point where they used to keep going.
Hey Johnathan, love the show! My question is how do you properly pad and fit a tactical helmet? Mine specifically is a Lancer Tactical Maritime simple version.
Hello Jonathan. First of all, great videos, keep up the good work! I want to know, do you think there is any airsoft pistol beign it AEP, GBB, CO2 powered, etc... that could be used as a primary gun? If so, which? Thank You!
Hey Jonathan. Congratulations on 100 episodes. I'll make my question short and sweet. What is your favorite flashlight you've ever had on a gun build? (Either for looks or actual effect)
Hi Jonathon new subscriber, love what you do. Have you ever played in different countries, if so do you find the regulations and players different from local fields. Coming from a fellow airsofter from Canada
Hahaha! At my local 100 acre field we normally get 20-30 people out there. (at least on Saturdays, when I go) We barely even use a fourth of the field!
The sport because I keep watching videos of MILSIM ops and hear about how vets who get out get into the sport and it gets me all pumped up but then I remember my priorities.
Hey John! Love the content. I am new to airsoft and am looking at a few different guns but would really appreciate your input. I will be playing CQB to mid range combat. I have about a 300 dollar budget. Thanks!
Hey Jonathan, I've been playing airsoft for more than I can remember, I' m a veteran in this, I need your advise about What brand of m4 is the best platform for upgrades. so simple. I already have a bunch of external upgrade parts but I still need the "body". Any suggestions?. Thank you so much, Greetings from Spain.
Hey Jonathan, love the show. Lots of people outside the Airsoft community believe that Airsoft isn't a sport. I think it is but I would like to hear your opinion. Keep up the great work!
what is a good effective, and under $100 air soft gun for beginners? im going to start playing soon, and I want to make sure I'm making good decisions on what I buy.
Hey Jonathan, is it weird to not wear a plate carrier at Milsim events? Personally, I only run a battle belt, but I'm planning on attending an AMS event and wondering if I should just buy one.-

Jonathon can you wear a green suit for you next review so you'll blend in with your background?
Only thing that's green screen is the tv screen
When he does the reviews he stands in front of one
DO. IT. JON.
DO.
IT.
He needs to wear a green morph suit so the guns will float around and review themselves
Taco_Killer99 No, his gun will be held by some mysterious floating hands with a mysterious floating head nearby.
Hey airsoftolgy what do you think of pistol only loadout's. Do you think there better for indoor Cqb?
Thanks Johnathan
I use a pistol for cqb and its really good to have because u have the small pistol that is lighter then thier rifle so u can easily get your pistol up faster so its easy to get nice quick kills
+Blackhawk 6878 ya I went a few days ago and my pistol broke and I had to rent and it was so boring because it's not as fun as using a pistol
yeah its even better when u can just rush the enemy because its so lite

+Owl Face yeah i have jg g36c and its awesome even i haven't upgraded it
No they are pieces of shit
yes they are, I use their ak mid caps
my jg showed up with just the barrel in the box and nothing else

Are gas guns worth it? Is the amount of bbs per canister worth it?
for gas pistols I say yes . for rifles they're good if you're looking for realism
Like the guy Above said, yeah.. they are worth it if you are using pistols.

Welldone Jonathon. Been a fan since the podcast days.
Congrats on no.100 .
the cornerstone of up to date Airsoft info. around the world . love the show and looking forward to the next 100.
Dear Jonathan, how do you feel about Prometheus' new barrels that come with pre installed Rhops? thanks, love the show, keep up the good work.
Just recently started airsoft. Theres a rise in numbers here in Netherlands and allot of fields have opend.
You're too perfect of a person on camera, I feel like you have explosive episodes where you just unleash your rage
So happy we've made it to 100 episodes! Please keep it going love watching, great content too! Any chance you could hunt down folks for some updated player spotlight?
I saw on novritch's channel he washes his bbs to get factory residue off of the bbs, is this needed to be done???
get this question up there!

yaaayyy 100th episode. mind answering some other questions I submitted a week ago?
Hi Jonathan I have a question. What is the best bb to use in a DMR/SPR role? Love the show keep up the good work
Hey Jonathan, great channel and very helpful.
I'm still green when it comes to airsoft and have learned quite a bit from your channel. But I was wondering if you could go over the basics of the different roles present in your typical milsim event. Currently trying to run as a marksman, but want to make sure I'm not better suited elsewhere on a team.
Thanks
congrats bro!! Big fan of your show. Greetings from the Netherlands.
What is your opinion on smoking and vaping during airsoft? Some guys at my field do it and it just irritates me. Love the show man!
This will help me decide what BDU i can get the most use out of.
multicam dude like every event uses multi cam
You should come to the Summer Slaughter event in Oregon some year. It's our big summer swap meet event. Big turn out every year and lots of new players coming in.
For night games, two things:
1) Don't wash your clothes/gear with optical enhancers in them.
Can't wait to see you down at Highground next week!
Hey Johnathan, Ik this isn't related to airsoft, do you have a job outside of RUclips, I love your channel keep up the great work
Im also pretty new to airsoft but i have tried and i like it plus my experience from watching jet the desert fox
Thanks and love the show
There is at many fields.... Mine is 10 years old with an guardians signature
+Anthony Weber personally I meant for much older ages
Jonathon ,Will you ever come play in europe?
I have an airsoft sniper and plan to upgrade it. Should I go with accuracy upgrades (hop up and tight bore barrel) or power upgrades (cylinder and cylinder internals) first? If it helps I have a WELL L96. Many thanks from across the pond and congratulations on your 100th episode!
Hey Jonathan love the show! How do you feel about bayonets and bayonet charges in airsoft? Thanks.
100th episode on the forth of July how crazy is that
Hi Jon;
I love the woven patches you had recently and I bought both of them, question is, have you found any other places that sell patches in the woven style? It seems fairly new.
How can I tell if I damaged my hop up in my sniper( I think that's what fires it in still learning)
Hey Jonathon, are some ABS polymer gearboxes good enough to take out to the field. Love your channel and keep up the good work.
Hey. What are your thoughts on using boats such as patrol boats or amphib landings in airsoft. Awesome show, hope to meet you someday.
I always use mixed BB's for my grenades, launcher and Shotgun (0.12/0.2/0.25)
So I get a giant spread pattern. It works pretty well.
I randomly noticed that you have wingding letters on your shirt in this episode
Lol when you said "oh boy.." To "is Airsoft dying?" That had me worried for a second haha. Great work Jonathan, keep them coming! :)
What are your thoughts on the kangaroo pouches on plate carriers and do you recommend puting extra pouches on the front of the pc
do you ever do video of the week on smaller channels ? most of them are large channels ! might be nice to see some of the smaller guys who make great videos get noticed by the popular channels !
What are the reasons for motors to get hot, I'm getting a G&P M180 Satan and a Matrix m125 spring, I want to prepare if it does get hot.
(Dec 10-11)
Can't wait to for high ground. Really pumped for the 16th.
100th episode on my birthday! Have a good day, John~~
Congratulations on a hundred episodes
Hey Johnathon, I was wondering what the major differences between CO2 and Green Gas pistols are and which you would suggest for someone getting a sidearm for the first time
hey Jonathan, would you ever go over the big pound to the UK for airsoft? or do you feel its run differently from the US? love the show keep it up!
What are you thoughts on things like the HSP Multi Mission Hanger or the Ferro Concepts Dangler.
Thanks from Germany ... love the show :D
Can you do a video on how to properly clean your airsoft guns? (AEGs, GBBRs and GBB Pistols, etc)
Hey Jonathan what do you think of novrisch's sniper tuning kits specifically bar 10 thanks
Johnathan 2 questions. 1 Where are the game play videos and 2 Are you planning a trip to canada for any events in the future
Hey Johnathan, love the show! My question is how do you properly pad and fit a tactical helmet? Mine specifically is a Lancer Tactical Maritime simple version.
100th episode on July 4 that's pretty neat!!!!
Hey congrats! I am a loyal watcher. Looking forward to seeing you in Houston
What's your thoughts about the new cat s60? Can I use the thermal imaging in airsoft night ops?
Hello Jonathan. First of all, great videos, keep up the good work! I want to know, do you think there is any airsoft pistol beign it AEP, GBB, CO2 powered, etc... that could be used as a primary gun? If so, which? Thank You!
Me and a couple of friends are currently popularizing the sport in Tijuana BC in Mexico. Our max number of players has been 50+ people
Hey Jonathan. Congratulations on 100 episodes. I'll make my question short and sweet. What is your favorite flashlight you've ever had on a gun build? (Either for looks or actual effect)
My friends use night vision but there was a small red ir light at the top which gave them away
