Debian 12.1 and MX Linux 23 really stepped up this year. Rhino Linux was a cool one, and Ultramarine really surprised me, too. Watching this on my Asus VivoBook running MX Linux 23 KDE.
Thank you for the recap/compilation. I’ll also have a deeper look on Tuxedo OS, as I’m playing with the thought of purchasing a Tuxedo Laptop. Awaiting your product review after your 90 days trial. Many thanks for all your efforts. Keep going!! 😎✌️
Yes and there is a very good reason for that. Valve dropped Ubuntu in favor of Arch. All the newest things regarding gaming come out on Arch first now.
I'm a Linux noob and have been a happy PopOS user, but I'm seriously thinking about giving either CachyOS or Garuda a try, thanks to this video! Thank you, eBuzz!
Took some old laptops from work that were to be recycled out. Wiped windows off put zorin os on. Even though the laptops are in rough conditions the Linux user base grows.
Hi! Thanks a lot for all videos. I'm running now KDE Neon and Manjario on severla PC at home and work, but I'm thining about jump to CachyOS or... Nobara. Which one would you recommend, when it comes to user friendliness and most of all speed and optimization. I will use it on latest hardware, fast pc (Z70, i13700, nvidia RTX 3060, DDR5, M.2 etc). Thanks!
WOW another cool video. I have tested most of these Linux Distros and I fully agree. I even got Big Linux running on my Surface Book after I manually installed the WIFI Card driver. It 's great. But I am missing MX Linus in their MX-23-Libretto version. It's my daily driver. Just using it here to write this comment. I am happy you keep doing your videos. Thumsb Up and Greetings to the Community from Germany.
I consider Ubuntu 23.10 the best distro in 2023. I installed one week ago and is the best experince on linux. I hope they will resolve the nvidia driver with wayland and kernel 6.6 this way will be the best distro ever.
I have tested lots of Distros recently. Garuda (still using on main system) is great but has issues with some hardware. Pop Os is the only one I have found that works out of the box on any hardware and I am using that on my media PC.
2023 has been the year that AUR kicked all but one of my Archie system butts all over the place. I'm on the verge of flipping a couple of my arch-based systems over to Debian. I'd take less aspirin and drink fewer beers using Debian. The only Arch system I haven't had an issue with... I hadn't enabled AUR. It's been an interesting year for Linux. 2024 will be just as exciting I'm sure.
I'm using Nobara at the moment (going to install something else now though). Great about it is the nvidia driver support. Games work better with it than on other distros. And I like the language input support. Just add the language you want to type and it is right there. What really sucked is the German translation. Yes, you can put the OS to German but it is a wild mix of German, English and Germinglish. It also feels clunkier and uglier than Mint which I used before. I only recommend it if your main focus is gaming.
NixOS is not easy but imo its the GREATEST but for others it deserve a try unlike any distro it never broke on me and its very easy to setup a browser, steam, basic user stuff....
Like garuda , getting my feel in which Linux I want permanent , what is the right way to partition my installation before installing garuda also I get a virtual box error on starting PC , I have a HP elite book gaming laptop amd graphics and Intel chipset i7
Modicia needs an update... I've been waiting for it so i can install it on a AMD based M2 alternative for a family member who needs a tough portable workhorse.
I tried NITRUX and REALLY REALLY like it-- but several part of it didn't work for me--- I couldn't GET them to work.. and wish I could have.. BUT - I've tried CACHY and LOVED it-- I think now it's improved even more-- may try it again... I"m keeping my LMDE6 and SPARKY on here for dailies... but I do love something DIFFERENT every so often - so this would be a good one.. I loved ARTIX- but something is WRONG in that on they even tell you now that the system is NOT right..
Garuda borked my WiFi within an hour and it would not get up again no matter what I tried. For me it is the worst distribution in the Arch family to date. Back to Vanilla Arch.
My experience has been good with it for fun testing out Linux, played a lot of the game 'Control' on it so far, though I mainly use Windows and Mac Mini/Sonoma PC's. I'm going to work with it more and will add LMDE on another PC's extra NVME drive.
Meh, i tried all of them and linux mint is still the best when it comes to out of the box usability, Features and ease of use in general. It has graphical user Interfaces for basically any task, be it navigation, updates and even installing a new kernel. It's literally a matter of just point & click.
0:38 - Cachy OS
13:40 - Garuda Linux
22:42 - Manjaro
36:19 - Nobara
49:00 - Tuxedo
58:41 - Ultramarine
1:7:44 - Nitrux
1:20:36 - Big Linux
Have you tried Debian 12.1 yet? Most all the woes of a typical Debian installation are pretty much gone. Very painless to install! 😎
Debian 12.1 and MX Linux 23 really stepped up this year. Rhino Linux was a cool one, and Ultramarine really surprised me, too. Watching this on my Asus VivoBook running MX Linux 23 KDE.
Admiration for your choice! Stability, midweight, responsiveness, ability to add all you need... Awesome distro!

Seems like these Arch distros are catching on more and more as they improve

timestamp would be helpful
Yes, please. Especially on an hour and a half video.
Indeed. Although as a workaround we could just hold fast forward and look at the thumbnails on screen

Wow! Manjaro's wallpaper is beautiful. I wish I could find that for my Lubuntu 22.04.3 that would be awesome.

Thanks Troy!!! Solid video, so much distro's, so little time!

How on Earth could you not includ MABOX the openbox/manjaro/arch distribution? This is the best Linux distro on the planet....

CachY Os has the most beautiful wallpaper.

Nicely done …

Garuda is interesting..

LMDE Faye is the best IMHO.
