  • In today's video, I'm excited to share a special project close to my heart. I'm creating a beautiful sewing caddy designed by the wonderful Jennifer Clouston. This time, it's for a dear friend who is about to undergo surgery. I'll be showing you how to make little modifications to the original design to make it even more practical and personalised. To buy the pattern for the actual caddy, please contact Jennifer Clouston • Snippets of my stitchi...
    In this video, you'll see:
    ✨ Gathering Materials: Choosing the perfect fabrics, felt, and embroidery supplies.
    ✨ Modifications: Making the caddy taller to hold a phone, creating embroidered felt needle holders, and adding Japanese-style cord covers in the shape of sakura flowers that double as pin cushions.
    ✨ Filling the Caddy: Adding all the little essentials my friend will need post-op, turning this caddy into a thoughtful and supportive gift.
    Materials Needed:
    * Main and contrasting fabric
    * Felt for needle holders
    * Embroidery thread
    * Cord
    * Sewing essentials (needle, thread, scissors, etc.)
    Timestamps:
    0:00 - Introduction
    1:06 - Gathering Materials
    1:47- Embroidered Felt Needle Holders
    3:28 - Embroidered feature panels
    6:43 - Making Japanese-Style Loop Ends
    12:49 - Filling the Caddy with Essentials
    13:41 - Conclusion and 100th episode suggestions
    This sewing caddy is not only a practical project but also a heartfelt gesture of support and love. I hope it inspires you to create something special for someone you care about.

    What a perfect video Leanne. You're a great storeyteller. I thought it was totally lovely. The sakura flowers are a great finishing touch to the loop ends. You made a wonderful present for your special friend...

      Thank you so much Marion! As you know, I have been grappling with audio issues of my voice inaudible at times, so decided the best way forward is to voiceover what I want to say afterwards. I really enjoyed the process of making this video, even though it was weeks of sewing and editing! It is magical watching people work on a lathe, isn't it? How a beautiful piece emerges as that wood spins around!😊

      Thank you very much, Jeanette! I might need a sewing caddy intervention because I have finished sewing another one for me that is just a bit larger and put a pocket on the front to hold my phone. I received two compliments on it when out shopping this week from women who thought it was a handbag! Well for me it is, except it is a handbag filled with useful stuff! 😂 I am so pleased you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment. 😊

      Thank you very much. So happy you have set up a retreat in Ballarat on dates that I can attend. Ever since I went there with my husband last year I have wanted to go back. I was also interested in Susanna's next one but the dates couldn't work for me. How indulgent to sit and stitch for days on end, with stitching buddies in the room and to be fed as well! I am saving my pocket money because the stores down there had such beautiful treasures! 😊

      Thank you very much Kristy! I find myself buying lots of small wood turned items now. I love people being creative and try to support others in their craft. At the last craft show I went to I bought a beautiful pin cushion in a wood turned bobbin ring. So lovely to hold.😊

    What a lovely and thoughtful gift you've made. Congrats on your upcoming 100th video on YT! This is my first visit to your channel, so I'm excited to view the 99 others in the weeks ahead. I tried to locate the original pattern by searching your friend's name. Her website and other social media links no longer work, however.

    Hi Leanne, loved this video, wondering where there is a tutorial for the Sakura pin cushion? If you could demonstrate this again please that would be a real treat. Happy stitching. 🧵🪡

    • @leannescraftycupboard
      @leannescraftycupboard  Месяц назад +1

      Thank you so much for your kind comment. In the video description box, if you click on the word more, you can see the video chapters. I demonstrate the steps of making the Sakura pin cushion (Making Japanese-style loop ends) at 6:43. You can click on that time to jump straight to that part of the video. If you would like to see a longer demonstration, I make a pin cushion with 6 petals instead of 5 in my Episode 46. I hope it is useful for you and you enjoy making one for yourself. The difference with the episode 46 one is, it has a slit in the back of the circle because the backing would be stuck down. If you want it to hang on the cord end, you leave a gap in sewing the circle itself as I did in this video.😊
