Actually the African country episodes are my favourites since we sadly never really covered Africa in Geography class back in school, it was mostly Europe, North America and Asia. Through Geography studies at University I have a pretty good handle on South America. I'm a teacher by the way and really appreciate these videos. =D

Hi excellent video about Gabon from a Gabonese guy. You have described quite well my country. But 2 importants things are missing (II know that you cannot fill everything). We have the only natural nuclear reactor Oklo and the oldest fossil unicell organism. So Gabon is the birthplace of all living organism!!! wahouuuuu

Honestly, I think I'm more excited about the videos on smaller countries. I don't know enough about them and this channel is a really great way to fix that. Thanks, Barby!
To be fair, the reason why I'm loving this channel is because of the more obscure nations like Gabon, Estonia, Antigua & Barbuda, and others. The ones I am looking forward to the most are Oceanic countries since no one really talks about them at all.
He forgot to mention 2 things. Oklo and Gabonionta, both near Franceville. Oklo is the unique natural nuclear reactor that went critical 4 billions years ago in that location. Gabonionta, the fossil of one of the oldest multi-cellular life forms on earth. 2;2 billion years old.

I'm currently in Gabon now. And the CAN 2017 is going on. I almost forgot how humid the air feels 😂, also you forgot to mention that Gabon has unique parrots that can speak!
I'm a high school French teacher and show your videos of the French speaking countries. I have my students tell me something interesting they learned, and pretty much everyone mentioned either the surfing hippos or being shaped like a witch in a top hat.
I prefer the smaller countries you do! It's easy to find information about the big ones, but you bring light to the obscure counties. Way cooler to know about
I just wanted too say that you've been extremely helpful for me. I am entering the finals for my school geography bee. Last year I did not study and came in 3rd, but this year I have been studying in the form of watching your videos. Thank you for the help!!!
Fun, just take a look: African Country's Names in english - Name in Portuguese -what the name means in english Cameroon -Camarões - shrimp Gabon - Gabão - cloak Sierra Leone (actually resembles spanish) -Serra Leoa - Lioness Mountains Cape Verde - Cabo verde Ivory Coast - Costa do Marfim Gambia - Gâmbia - from the portuguese "Câmbio" meaning "trade" Contless Guineas - guinea kinda means rich place, or place of the blacks Madagascar - from "Madeigascar"; Marco Polo's name from his book given to the island in 1502 by the Portuguese I'm sure there's more, but I think it's enough to help get you an idea of how many contries have their name from the Portuguse langage and don't even realize it.
Caçador Especial you know ivory is simply the name of the stuff (elephent's "horns") and that it was called coast because it was an outpost of the french right?
Outpost of the French with Portuguese previous discovery. The Portuguese discovered that land and simply named it according to the most abundant resource avaliable.
The obscure African country episodes are my favorite since I learn the most. I already know a lot about north america and western europe, I come to this channel to learn new things about other countries, not just to re-hear things I already know!
Thank you Barby for all the interesting content you publish. Great video man, thanks for doing this in such a detailed and enthusiastic way. I just got DNA test results back that my father's lineage comes from this country. Im trying to find out as much as i can about it and this video helped. Thanks

plz stop saying small country
Small by reputation and political bearing, we all know Africa is a monster when it comes to size.
And small by population. I mean, 1.5 million? That's like a one bigger city.
1.5 million population is very small for a country m8.
