The Epic of Khairy Jamaluddin: From Oxford PPE to UMNO, Keluar Sekejap, and Beyond

In November 2022, Khairy Jamaluddin lost an election in a seat that he was never expected to win.
In January of the following year, he had been expelled from his party. Deep loyalty was rewarded with treachery, a violation of due process, and many other things, and the politician of more than 20 years had to go away from politics into a brave new world
In this episode of Pathways, I had the honour of chatting with former Health Minister and Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin about his education, at Oxford University, as he took on what was then known, and now continues to be known, as the Prime Minister's degree.
It was a tremendous privilege to discuss with him the early days leading up to Oxford, and how all of the educational decisions that he had made ended up factoring into the choices that shaped his life in UMNO, leading up to the present day through an appreciation of good into doubt, and into the restructuring and reconstruction of society.
We discussed Tun Mahathir's Malay Dilemma, Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim's Asian Renaissance, and many other things including the May 13th incident, and it was a pleasure to see this gentleman's mind at work and to discuss many things that I could not have expected to have discussed in an earlier era, all brought about because of...
