- In 2017, some 50 of the world’s top watchmakers have donated timepieces made specifically for Only Watch - a biennial charity auction of unique luxury timepieces in Geneva.
Among the timepieces in this year’s sale is the Wostep desk watch, engraved with the names of the 16 alumni of the Watchmakers of Switzerland Training and Educational Program in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. Graduates of the prestigious program have gone on to become master watchmakers and teachers, says horological expert Peter Speake-Marin, ’imparting their knowledge and expertise to the new generation.’
Equally novel is the timepiece by newcomer Barbier Mueller, which boasts ‘in excess of over 130 pieces of jasper.’ In homage to early pocket watches, a full hunter caseback opens to reveal the mechanics of the watch. ‘It’s a beautiful example of high-end watchmaking combined with original design,’ says Speake-Marin.

Peter,could quite easily add one of the watches from his own company,and it would be every bit as good ,if not better than the watches he has futured in this video! Being humble,while possessing master watch maker qualities comes natural to Peter,and that's why I would put him right up there with Viannie Halter,and Philip Defour.
Awesome collection, but the price? How many people can afford such expensive masterpieces. A seiko watch is easily affordable and it keeps fairly good time. The finishing of the movement is not noteworthy, but alas, the vast majority of people don't care about finishing as long as the watch keeps good time. It is only the watch connoisseurs who go for artistic appeal coupled with world class movement. But this group is rare. Thanks for the video. Loved it.

Because the watch can sometimes slip and fall and receive damage with two gloves.
