- Johnny is our 19 years old teaser stallion. He is a Dartmoor pony. about 5 years ago someone did ride him. And Rinske did ride him 5 year before that. Faya has often looked after Johnny this summer. Along with Faya's brother, Joey. Now is the time to ride him every now and then. This will be the first time.
Because I think it's such a great video. I place it earlier than planned. I hope you like it too.
Johnny is no Friesian Horse, so we don't use him to cover our Friesian mares.

A man named Rein owns the property and horses.

You can see by the way that Johnny is curling his head towards Faya that he really likes the kids. He was a very good boy under saddle for not being ridden in so many years. You can tell for all his silly showing off to the ladies...he really is a very gentle stallion for the most part.
Johnny is a good boy.... But hates other adult male horses!

That child has the most impeccable posture I have ever seen. She is built for riding and has a passion for it. She is going to be a force to be reckoned with. Mom keep that encouragement up.
Yeah, her posture is beautiful 😍 The only thing I would improve tho are those elbows, they're a bit straight! (I find that it's hard to get good bent elbows if u have a good position tho 😅)

@@LindaEll89 Yes, she sits so well! Johnny is so well behaved! I think Faya should ride him regularly and that will help calm him down! A pony needs a job to feel needed!
@@oystergirl99 I think Faya should also ride Johnny more often. Johnny would probably enjoy the attention. And Faya would enjoy riding Johnny who is the right size and mild mannered.

What a lovely natured stallion he is. He obviously loves children, he is very gentle with the little girl.
So Johnny isn't just another pretty face, lol! He seems pretty levelheaded for a pony and stallion. Faya looks wonderful on him 🙂

The reputation of a pony is completely wrong. You'll always hear about the worst pony, or the craziest horse, but the media only wants you to hear what they have to say. Ponies are lovely, not jerks.

@@slipmasterd True..for the most part....they are very strong and often stubborn, but I believe consistent, early training will prevent hard headed behavior...gentle training, the best!!
Faya is so happy and so is Johnny! He acted like he was ridden all the time. Around his ladies he is a stud muffin. With Faya he was a gentleman and well behaved. They are so cute together.
I believe Johnny is almost 20 years old and in great shape. I think this was a nice exercise for Johnny. A good distraction from ‘mare supervision’ and pacing in the paddock, as is common with stallions.

Re-watching this video, I had another thought.
This is a case of Pure Innocence vs. Looks Can Be Deceiving.
Faya, in her innocence, only sees the cute, funny, loveable pony, Johnny, who wouldn't step on a Fly, even accidentally.
Her mother, Geertje, however; sees a small, but mightly force of strength and power in Johnny the Stallion, undisputed King of Stal G, who can buck her daughter off without warning and cause her serious, if not fatal injuries, if he gets provoked even slightly.
With Johnny, they are both right. He is the sweetest Pony in the World when he wants to be, but we can never forget that just like that kind old man who sits on his front porch every evening watching the neighborhood kids play, he can also become that grouchy old man yelling "Get off of my lawn!" at the neighborhood kids if they catch him in a bad mood. Best to err on the side of caution. 😂😂😂

Faya has a lovely seat and such quiet hands! As much of a stallion as Johnny is in the pasture, he was quite a gentleman carrying Faya.

Faya is so thrilled to be able to ride Johnny. He's a lovely pony, and he is doing so well, considering It's been such a while for him since he was last under saddle. Good for him to have a job other than his teaser duties.
I know. I mentioned one time about Johnny being ridden, and someone replied that he was too frisky, and would not ever be ridden. But, I knew I had seen a little girl riding him. When I saw how gentle he was when Yvonne was placing him in his halter, I thought that it could be possible, that he is more gentle than it appears. I think he just gets so excited by all the mares, "too many ladies, so little time," that people think he's more on the wild side. I thought I must have seen a little girl riding him in my mind because I know it's possible. Today, I see the little girl, Faya, riding him with my own eyes. I know this is possible with Johnny because of Rinske's and Gertie's training and skill, but it's still nice to see. Johnny has such beautiful lines and the prettiest tail that swishes around when he moves. We have only Shetland ponies (of the small variety) where I live, and they are more chunky in build.
@@anneteller3128 I think you are absolute right. I was a little worried, too, but as soon as Johnny understood what (the saddle) and who (Faya) was on his back, he was lovely. I'm so happy Faya had such a good experience. I'm always jealous when I see how natural good posture is for children. Faya posted to Johnny's stride very well, too. Hope we can see more of Faya riding and watch her progress.

Thank you for the memory! I used to ride my neighbor’s pony in the summertime when I was a young girl. In a life of constant abuse it was a bright oasis of joy and safety. 💜
Greertje, you are an amazing mom and obviously have a very talented and more importantly *HAPPY* daughter!! A mom willing to run a pony about an arena just so her daughter can ride is pretty awesome in my opinion! Mom to mom, this world could use a whole lot more mother's like you. 🖤🖤🖤

Faya was so little there but she is a darling little girl and really loved riding Johnny who has more than well behaved Such a handsome stallion !
It's amazing watching these over again. The 1st time they were strangers, now they're wonderful people with kind hearts that I wish the best for. Watching her be so excited and happy, my heart swells. I'm praying for everyone at Stal G & for Yvonne and her family. It's weird how 1 year changes my perspective.

I couldn't agree more. I'm in the same position. I think they first popped up in my feed with Risey being adopted by Uniek, and then Yvonne's hospitalization. I can't even remember why. I think I was watching some Arabian shows in costume? Now, I want to visit Holland just so that I can go and meet Yvonne and her family and her horses! My fiance said, go to Amsterdam and see the palace (I'm a royalist), and I said no, first the horses!!! In fact, he said Machu Picchu first, to someone we were talking to, and I said, after the horses!

I agree! She has a great seat and soft hands. If the owner doesn't mind, it would give Johnny something to do to occupy his mind as long as no one in season is close enough to smell. And can be kept securely away 😳. That's my only concern with young riders and stud horses. If an in-season mare was accidentally brought near enough for him to smell, I don't know if Faya would have the skills to control him or dismount safely. Obviously, she'd be with an adult; but arenas are large and sometimes a split second is all you have to do something.
@@tracyhicks Very true, that is my only concern also! Sometimes you don't know if a mare is in heat until a stud tells you!
@@tracyhicks I was wondering if you could temporarily “confuse” Johnny’s nose to keep Faya safe...when I take a cat to the vet, I put a dab of rubbing alcohol on the back of the neck of all my cats. I started doing it bc I really hated the way the other cats would pick up the smell of an unfamiliar cat and freak out. It works perfectly! No more attacks on the poor cat returning from the vet. So with a horse...a bit of Vicks Vap-o-Rub around the nostrils? Just a thought...

Every little girls dream is to ride a black stallion!!!!! Faya is such a lucky girl ❤️ she is on top of the world when she rode Johnny!!!!!! I know I was when I rode my first stallion and it was heart pounding and he was a Friesian.
YES!! As a little girl I ALWAYS dreamed of owning a black stallion!! When we played horses I was always the black stallion. Lol😅😅
@@sherrywebber4013 I did the same thing when I was little with my sister and when I got older and went to an internship in TX, they had a Friesian stallion called Diablo, which was his barn name. I just hope I didn’t take away any attention from Faya though,

Johnny, your little stallion pony, has a lot of purposes at Friesian Stables. I didn't know a stallion could be so gentle with a new child rider! Equestrian genes run in the Dutch people, so Faya was a natural to "post tolt," in the saddle {you experts correct my spelling and definition}. She moved in sync with Johnny's trot. The canter pushed her up off the saddle, but that's another lesson. Geertje, your daughter, has your giggly sense of humor and "fun-ness" in life. She'll be Ms. Dressage in a few years. ❤️

hes not just a little cutie, he still has base instincts...

So darn cuuuuuute! Johnny appeared to love this ride! He needs to feel useful and it probably would help keep him calmer and more grounded. He needs to be worked and ridden much more it would seem. What a great team Faya and Johnny make! There seemed to be some genuine chemistry between those two!

I had to watch again. This is the calmest I've ever seen Johnny. He acted like a gentleman. Faya was happy as can be.
