    This is so great, I'm loving the new trail build. Back in my youth, I grew up in a forest. My tools for trail building was a machete and shovel! Of course they were foot trails only. Mike, I hate to mention something wout information on it, but when I guess Melissa was holding your camera, I had a flash back. Years ago, in commercial crap TV, I saw a commercial advertising this, I guess a gopro camera on a tripod. It had a companion, a small something, a coin size gadget that was connected to the gopro wirelessly. The camera would follow the gadget wherever it moved. I've no idea of any name, or even if it still exists as I quit commercial crap TV years ago. That would be good for one person to video his movements wout a second person. Anyway, this is real fun for me watching y'all do anything out in the woods! Levi planting the pines and he has Japanese chestnuts also to plant. Good stuff just getting better every day. Thanks for today's video, I'll be looking for you tomorrow! 👍🚜❤

    Nice trail build. It’s neat the way you can get to your families’ property without driving on the roads! The shale has a nice sound as it hits the ground and does make a nice base. I’m sure Melissa and the pups will place their seal of approval! My trails were made with shovels, picks, wheel barrows and axes so it’s nice to see how mechanization makes it go so much faster! I enjoyed this one!

    Can't wait to be at the point of doing this on my property! For now I have no heavy equipment. Only using my chainsaw, a pickaxe and a shovel to create my trails. Hardwork but nothing else I'd rather be doing.

    Very fitting title was watching the loader running over it after you did the first few lift with your shale it hardly even sunk, great compaction, the camera work was dead on for detailing all of the skimming the the compaction with each lift also to understand the elevation you were working with beautiful camera work loved the whole thing you answered so many questions with this video on how the trail interconnects your beautiful property , thanks for sharing totally enjoyed it,

    Another great video, Mike. Not sure who was taping the segments where you were bringing fill in for the trail (perhaps Melissa) but the camera work was spot on. When you mentioned you wanted to add some fill at one point on the trail where it turns because you don’t want to be leaning, it made me think of something I do on a few pieces of my equipment (and our motorhome). I buy the large two-way levels with sticky tape on the back (from Harbor Freight) and I mount them inside my cab so I can get a sense of “true” level. I have a pretty good eye but I’m usually off a bit relative the level. A quick glance helps keep me straight and level. One of my pieces has a built-in level meter but for the ones that don’t, it’s a cheap alternative.

    I really must say that I am envious of all the land that you have, and all the possibilities that are achievable with all that land ... Just curious ... have you given any thought to a log cabin down by the pond ? ... Maybe a few fruit trees ? ... That could turn out to be a little paradise for your family ...

  • @jjacres129
    @jjacres129 2 года назад

    Hey Mike you get those totes all the time save one for watering like I did I found a old small trailer and mounted it to it and I got a Milwaukee battery transfer pump to fill it from the pond takes only 15 to fill them and you can pump it out on the trees then to and I just pull it around up and down my hills with my 25 horse tractor

    Once you get a 4in1 bucket on the front of that Skid steer it will become a much more versitile workhorse, . then you can add a spreader bar you grip in the bucket , to make levelling up quicker especially for turf preps and concrete prep screeding, .

    Nice work! If your able to time-wise, stockpiling more material than you 'plan' to use will go along way. When I'm doing that type of work on my place I find it more convenient, as I end up using more to make the better trail. Seems like the woodland soils soak up the material like a sponge! Looks great, hope the weather holds out.

    Mike - In an upcoming video, can you explain your technique for dumping and smoothing material with the bucket?
    I have a tractor and I will typically dump the material and then back drag it with the bucket in float, which ends up wit t a bumpy surface. I notice that you don't do that here and instead just level the bucket and push forward. Seems like it's a great technique that yields a nice flat surface with minimal effort and I'd love to learn more about it. Thanks!

      There is simply no comparison between a tractor and skid steer _ I have both and the skid steer has a much shorter reach to do a more effective/efficient job...my 2 cents worth...😁👍🎏

    Mike you do a great job leveling with that bucket! When you first showed the new skid steer I thought why would you buy a bucket like that? Now I see why. You can evidently see the teeth from the operator’s seat making it easier to keep it level. Great video as usual! 😀
