I transfer my brother this way every week... and it is NOT as easy as this video shows. He has only one side functioning and can barely stand on one leg. When I go to lift him, I pull the muscles in my back and arms. I am looking for a workable solution for someone who cannot lift himself or help in the transfer. This video is not very helpful for me or others who have weight bearing issues.
I guess i done it all wrong i used gaitbait and let my patient hold on to my inside car handling while grabbing the gaitbelt attach to their waist and ease them slowly toward inside the car....i never used full body support like that cause or risky fall or back pain problems that develope soon or later..just my 2 cents
very unsafe to do this one. first, the transfer is too far and second, possiblity of falling backwards third.. intense backpain after the transfer.. the patient should allow to be independent when she can and hold the handle or something
Not particularly helpful. I am a single about to become a double amputee. A transfer board would be useful. I don’t want to sound like a know it all as I am just learning but this example seems to be of two, young, healthy VCU students practicing what they just learned in the classroom. Still, thanks. 👨🏻🦳🔥♿️ MikeinMinnesota. I’ll see YOU at the Top!
Do you use the same technique if the person can't even stand on their own.

This video has a good example of how to transfer from a wheechair to car and from a car to the wheelchair. Thanks!
That girl can move freely
Should have act like someone that has difficulties moving.

@@AQACommunity Thanks for the reply.
Where is the gait belt? Not safe.
Some people don't have a gait belt.

Not helpful at all. This is not only a young person but a person who can bare weight.
