OSI model recently showed me one: We changed the physical layer of a connection from wired to wireless (should be fine imo, cuz: OSI model, everything stays the same) ... and suddenly our transfers didn't get through anymore. Took quite some diggin' to get to the problem: the new equipment had a different config for max. message size and we had the "don't fragment" bit set - connection got resetted everytime... I swear at first I thought I'd go mad over that one. But I learned. Never assume everything's granted - and also question your fundamentals.
