What a roller coaster! There were so many close ones. I loved your discussion about the introduction of gods in Godkiller! I’m so glad you found The Book of Doors. The end papers are incredible!
I know! It was a lot of fun but it is going to be a minute before I try it again. 🤣 I cant wait to start Sunbringer this month! Just waiting on my hold.
The long journey for 5 stars 😅 Completely understandable about Rabbit Back Literature Society, I really like the weirdness and unsettling quality to it 😅
It was indeed! 😅 I really wanted to love it! I do think that the mystery and the atmosphere were great. I just couldn't get past those two scenes. Maybe someday I will come back to it!
This might sound weird but, Thank you for filming this video!! All these books were/are on my list to try and this really helped me decide what to keep on my list and which ones to take off. 💕
Sunbringer, here we come!! Woohoo!! (But I fully respect your feelings about Godkiller! Not a perfect book, for sure!) Oh my god, the spearing of the boar at like 11 🤣 I just couldn't handle it! Plus, goodreads says that other readers who enjoyed A Short Walk also enjoyed Book of Doors, Tainted Cup, The Last Murder at the End of the World...not going to lie, I am confused by the titles combo 😆 MARCH 29TH-JULY! Return. 👏 That. 👏Book. 👏 (yay for new gorgeous copy!!)
🥳 Yay for buddy reading helping me with my series goal! 🤣That combination of titles makes absolutely no sense (hated one, loved two, and couldn't care less about one 🤔).
I thought The Book That Broke the World would be a 5 for you! 4.75 is so close 😂 I know you had told me you dnf’d Rakesfall, but it’s still a bummer. You’re really selling The Book of Doors 👀 I’m glad you found a new favorite!
Me too! I really did enjoy it, but there were just a few small things that kept it from being perfect. I was being picky. 🤣 If you pick up The Book of Doors I would love to chat about it! I hope you love it!!!
I'm glad you finally found a 5* book. I was worried you might give it a 4.98 and have to continue your search :) You definitely enjoyed TBTBtW more than I did. I agree that the reveal was less surprising and the plot was weaker. I liked the time aspects but found some of it a repetitive cycle of meet enemy, fight and run away, get a bit of worldbuilding. Maybe I expected a bit more and was disappointed because his book 2s are often the best in the series. The Book of Doors was really entertaining and very engaging. The bit you re-read several times was one of the 2 or 3 minor things I didn't like, though :) It's great that you've identified a storytelling that works well for you if done right. I pretty much have similar thoughts about Godkiller. I didn't mind the thing you mentioned as I had a suspicion, but if that had happened in a mystery then I would have been frustrated. I still haven't read Sunbringer.
🤣 I did think that I had cursed myself to never give out a 5 star again! I think that TBTBTW just hit at the right time. It definitely was not as well plotted as the first book and I agree that it was a bit repetitive. The scene in The Book of Doors, I do wish was a little more flushed out than it was, but I was vibing with the story. I didn't think about the issue I had with Godkiller being one I had gotten from a different genre, but I have been reading more mystery leaning fantasy recently. Perhaps my genre blending has made me more picky. 🤣
I was surprised when The Book That Broke the World didn't quite make the 5 star! Loved that you saw this video through to the end! I really enjoyed your description of Godkiller too. It's better to dnf than waste your life reading books that are not for you. I personally like when people dnf books that are not working for them. I'm even more excited to get to The Book of Doors now too.
Me too! It was great, but not quite as good as the first book. Thank you! It took a minute, but we got there in the end. Laura, if you pick up The Book of Doors we need to chat about your thoughts. I am dying to talk to someone about it!
I just finished When Among Crows! I had so much fun with it. It was much darker than I expected. The world and monsters were very intriguing. I want more stories in that world!
Yay for a 5 star! But also yay for the ones that were so close to a five star - just yay for enjoying reading.
🥳 Yay indeed! So many good books (which I needed 🤣).

I added The Book of Doors to my tbr. The way you talk about it, makes it sound so beautiful
I hope you love it the way I did! It will continue to live in my head rent free. 😊

Glad I could help you take some off your list. 🤣 DNFing is never fun, but sometimes it's just the way it goes.
@@Danni.Dabbles Agreed!! It’s always a bit disappointing when a book you think you’ll love ends up being a DNF.

I loved Rakesfall but completely understand why it didn’t work for you. Glad you managed to find your five star in the end though it sounds great🌻
I think Rakesfall was just not for me, unfortunately. I'm glad that you loved it! 😊
This was quite the adventure for a 5 star read
You're telling me! 🤣

@@Danni.Dabbles I will get to it asap! I don’t know anyone else who has read it yet so I’m sure there will be conversations to be had for sure!
I LOVED The Book of Doors!!! Definitely a 5🌟 for me!!! It's currently competing with When Among Crows by Veronica Roth for my top book.
I just finished When Among Crows! I had so much fun with it. It was much darker than I expected. The world and monsters were very intriguing. I want more stories in that world!
I also DNF'D Rakesfall
Glad I'm not alone. I really wanted to love it.
