The Ancient Monster Gomora hibernates with lowered vital signs in a mountain where a tunnel is slated to be built. The anti-monster robot force STORAGE starts a major operation to transport Gomora to an uninhabited island!
However, when Gomora unexpectedly awakens, panic ensues!
Ultraman Z fights a dire battle against Gomora and the monster’s incredible power, but a new power arrives in an unexpected form…
★Series Synopsis
Once, shards of evil called “Devil Splinters” were scattered across space, throwing the galaxy into chaos. At that time, Ultraman Z, a new member of the Inter Galactic Defense Force who sought out Ultraman Zero as a mentor, comes down to Earth while chasing the Ferocious Space Shark Genegarg. On Earth, the Anti-Monster Robot Force STORAGE is formed to face down the monsters that appear on a daily basis. In his first battle, Z merges with Haruki Natsukawa, a new pilot of STORAGE. Together, they rise up to protect the peace! However, behind the scenes, the parasitic lifeform Celebro has set a terrifying plot into motion…

I love how Z calls Ultraman "Man-niisan".
It's endearing in a way, and kind of makes me feel that's how most Ultras Z's age in the Land of Light calls the OG Ultraman.
Probably because there are a lot of Ultramen in the galaxy
Z is probably the second Ultra to speak proper sentence with his grunt voice, the first one is Taro. Hearing him saying "Ultraman Z! Beta Smash!" and "Zestium Upper!" sounds oddly satisfying
He does use Taro's power, so it's only natural.

@@happysentences9721 Actually, that’s how it is.. Ultraman Hikari’s invention is getting more advanced so it’s not surprised if the medal gives him more than power.. In fact, the medal gives him the looks according to the respective Ultra on his fusion form.

This is one of those episodes that makes me feel bad for the kaiju. Poor Gomora only had hay fever and got blown up to bits because of it.

@@incarnationadam5988 Well, he was dormant and causing no trouble, till they tried moving him and those allergies hit him and in his distress he caused destruction, so they blew him up because of that, a problem that the monster didn't even set out to in the first place. This is why I personally enjoy Ultraman Cosmos, the characters in that series knew that not all monsters are malicious and they tried their best to solve the problems without having to make the monsters go kaboom.
@@chrisvelazquez206 Nope, episode 2 clearly highlighted that due to Genegarg, many of Earth’s dormant kaijus are waking up rapidly. Gomora would be due to wake up being that close to the city, whatever they moved him or not
@@chrisvelazquez206 I never watched Cosmos but irrc Cosmos can only purify and tame natural good or possessed kaijus, Gomora is anything but such (Ultra Galaxy and X are exceptions that people take to be reality). Plus Cosmos’s world is radically different from any of predecessors or successors
The way the American Vice Minister said "It's Ultraman!" makes me realise that there was an Ultraman called Ultraman USA back in 1987 or something
Ultraman Great and Ultrman Powered were also had English releases. One of the men in the episode is Australian and he said the whole thing reminded him of the shows he'd watch as a kid. Ultraman Great series was made by an Australian company. There are many nice easter eggs in this episode calling back on other Ultraman shows very nostalgic and cool.

Hearing fluent English in toku is so surreal but in a nice kind of way
For a while, this was my favorite episode of the series. Every scene with Beta Smash was a joy to watch and Gomora despite his many many appearances still manages to be a cool kaiju. This is probably the point where I really started thinking "man, I should follow this series through"
Gomora is one of my favourite monster
Gomora remains a pretty cool Kaiju design, even as basic of a Kaiju as it is in comparison to some other Kaiju throughout the Ultraman franchise.

I love how they addressed the language barrier in this episode. Although it is still a mystery how Z can speak in the sync realm

You should be happy that we were able to defeat the monster with minimal casualties. 9:54 Cost-effectiveness? Are you shitting me? A single freaking damn rocket costs millions of dollars. Your standard weapons don't even deal enough damage to a monster to destroy it.
Funny enough that was the exact setting STORAGE was placed in, their development of the mechs were hindered by other force's focus on newer fighters and missiles. The whole reason STORAGE was finally approved was because Sevenger defeated a 30-meter class kaiju that kicked GAF''s other branches to the curb.
