My main unanswered thoughts were why the long thinks, particularly on move 6 which is always a critical fork in the road for White choosing the specific setup to play and for about 4 moves after that which would be almost forced by whatever move was chosen on move 6. You spent an hour or more thinking on moves I assume should be part of home preparation, but Firouzjia seemed to also not be completely certain about his own moves at this critical juncture of all Sicilian games.
Imagine a world where we get free looks into a top tier player's mind during one of the most important tourneys in chess...wait, we don't have to imagine, go Hikaru, national treasure!
Couldn’t agree more
When he’s won or did a great draw, the way he opens his videos with so much joy and that makes me smile every time. By far one of the best streamers/youtubers out there!
Lmao why the raiden and erron black thumbnail
Literally made my day! Great game! Exciting finish to the tournament coming up!
im heartbroken for alireza hope he gets back to the right mindset, congrats on the win tho, gg.

Congrats Hikaru! I knew you would make a come back ❤👑
First
Nice job, and a really strong tournament so far. Way to bounce back. GL on the rest of the games!
I don't know if Hikaru is writing these titles himself but they are golden
I played this out from your position on my board. It was a great game! Thanks as always for the recap, and best of luck tomorrow. Rooting for you.
Someone must tell Hikki that he has just defeated Ali.
I forget where I heard the saying, “Play the opening like a textbook, the mid-game like an artist and the endgame like an engine.” That’s what HN did here.
Alireza had 2 seconds on the clock before he resigned, legend move would have been for Hikaru to hang his queen on the last move to flag Alireza at the candidates 🤣🤣🤣
So happy you bounced back. Chess is better with you on top
The tournament just got wild!
what a roller coaster this Candidates have been lol. Keep grinding Hikaru!!
hikaru is such a good dude. this guy used to drink, and was down on life, chess, whatever else. to see him come full circle is so awesome to see.
u da man hikaru! what a journey
i feel peace when hikaru starts with "aaaaaaandd"
thanks again for posting an update today. congrats on bouncing back. I liked your approach in this game, not trying too hard to force a win with White but let your opponent make some decisions.
If I'm not mistaken, Alekhine's gun is putting the queen BEHIND two rooks which can be even more effective in some specific positions. Get some rest, and keep on playing the way you do, your tournament is going very well so far, all the best for the remaining rounds, and who knows what happens ;-)
Pretty much the best round you could have possibly hoped for!! Loving it mate. WELL PLAYED!
Simply awesome! Keep fighting! Lots of love and support from Italy! Forza Hikaru! 💪🏻💪🏻
Congratulation!! amazing win & game!!!This is one of Kasparov favourite openings!!You was ''Search & Destroy'' mode! Alireza performance is ''No Comment''
Nice hair, Hikaru! Also, congrats for the win!
Love you Hikaru, it takes an immense effort to play Candidates and then do a recap video. This shows the love you have for your fans, much respect. We are rooting for you. Lets win the next one too. Good luck Hikaru!😘
This is the happiest I've heard Hikaru, I think ever
Honestly, Hika deserves to be the number one chess RUclipsr with all these recaps while he's doing one of the most Important tournaments ever
Was watching it live congrats :)
Yet another phenomenal recap. It is such a privilege to see and hear how one of the game’s greatest players works through his thinking and his moves. What an inspiration! Many thanks, Hikaru, and good luck in the remaining rounds!
Amazing nakamura is still in contention after the bad loss in the previous round.
"90 degrees of course" my man! 🤣
great game! you should up your noise gate so we don't hear all the clicking and keyboard thumping tho maybe? just a suggestion :)
twice now you have made a great comeback from a loss...more to come, loving it, keep the faith!
Great game man. Bro literally doesn’t care his opponents are world class talents
Love to see you play for a win. I hope you work your next fide games like this one
