Great video. I lived in Kendal about 20 years ago. I definitely left my heart there. I would love to be able to move back there one day. I would love to see a video on all the amazing yards of Kendal. I've lived in a few of them, but it would be great to see more.
I am from Yorkshire, but I have lived very near to Newquay in Cornwall for 26 years. My partner is Cornish and my 2 kids were born in Cornwall. Cornwall is iconic and the beaches are unreal. I took my family to the lakes 20 years ago and have been back several times since. Both my partner and kids love the lakes even more than Cornwall which is something. Kendal is a hub. If we could, we would all move there. I have many special memories of the lakes from my childhood. Nothing beats the lakes.

I would like to Kendal end of this year. Not many housing listings on Rightmove and too early to go to viewings but do you think it's hard to get a place there to rent? Is it very popular?
You have to keep looking regularly, as rented properties seem to go even quicker than those for sale. Kendal has always been fairly popular, as it is only a 20 minute (or so) drive to the Lakes. A 40 minute drive will see you in North Yorkshire, another popular location for walks and sight-seeing.
Great video and agree with what you say about the community have to support events to make the place work, travelling up to Windermere in morning hopefully be there for about 10.30 am usually go to Ambleside for day but thanks to this video I’ve looked into Kendal and realised just how close it is so will either get a train or taxi and spend the afternoon in Kendal for a change 👍
Positive video 👍 I’m a returning expat to the Uk and Kendal is on my interest list. Outdoor pursuits are essentially what I’m looking for. Are there good walks into the countryside from Kendal?
Aye Kendal’s got a lot going for it, such a beautiful town. The beer (personal field of expertise) game has improved in quality tenfold over the past five years, to the point where it’s worth visiting just to drink the beer. A lot of folk remember their favourite pubs all shutting down since 2000, but as you said it’s a question of support and patronage. “Kendal folk are dyed in the wool” as my mother used to say, focused on the past. This seems to be changing at pace now.

As a kendal person the education system is one of the best, Kendal College Arts and Media Campus is one of the well known factors of kendal i study Theatre and Events Technology there and highly recommend seeing a performance if you are into theatre

Great video. We live in the South but love the Lake District and we are contemplating a move I’ve not been to Kendal but this video has really shown what a beautiful place it is and we will definitely come and visit.

Absolutely love the lake district 😍 kendal the gateway to the lakes. Unfortunately with kendal I think a lot of people just drive though witch is a shame because there are some great independent shops there
every event is overpriced for the kendal working class who keep it going through the off seasons, i have found it cheaper in preston and miss enjoying our nights in the localised kendal pubs and unfortunatly the lost nights in the globe that kept me coming back.
I was thinking about how to reply to this one. If you have to travel to Preston, that's a cost, so that makes the savings less. And we are in the top 5 places in the UK to live so that may have an increased cost, but what a place to be...Thanks for the comment as I got to watch some of your videos. I visited Kendal with my good lady for the first time a few years back. I loved it as much as the Lake District. You can see the town has history and with that a beauty. You are a good man for doing this video and none of your words are wrong. I hope people there can appreciate what they have and help out your gem of a town.
@@ChristianHoyle by the way what you said used to be a carpark was same as the road called. Also used to have a fun fair once a year in my opinion looks a lot better now. I know was a lot of upset people who didn't like loosing the carpark .
That depends what form you prefer your "excitement" to take. If you like to spend your weekends sat in a pub, you're *well* catered for in Kendal. And if you prefer the great outdoors, then you're only a shot drive from the Lakes, and all it has to offer. Kendal also has it's share of museums, art galleries, a shopping centre, a castle etc......
