It's truly amazing to see these images of buildings I've lived near and played around as a kid how they were 100+ years ago. There was an image of the church on Charnelton that I can see from my home right now. I believe it still has it's original church bells too.
Hargreaves and Lindsay was my grandfather’s construction company. They built lots of streets and sidewalks around town. They also built the Mc Moran and Washburn building that still stands on the SW corner of Broadway and Willamette Street.

I grew up in Springfield and have such good memories of my mom taking me to movies at the McDonald every Saturday morning for the kiddie shows and shopping when there was a downtown in the early 60's. Saw "Bonnie & Clyde" at the Heilig Theater - the only time I went there. It is extremely sad that no one had any fore thought about anything but money as they ransacked our history. Thanks for taking the time to create this.
@zippywoo2 I lived in Springfield as well. There was another theater in downtown Springfield called, the McKenzie theater. I also remember the Heilig theater on Willamette in Eugene. There were a couple of other theaters on Willamette as well, the Fox theater and the Paramount theater.
@MaximumsMom Yes, you are correct they do go by really quickly. I will do another soon, as I have collected many more photos of the Emerald Valley that are just incredible. Thanks for commenting.
@Yulelah thanks. I try to. Have made some old finds here and there. But this little town gets hit pretty hard. And lots of those old buildings have been torn down. Its sad. The town looks nothing like this anymore. Though, the old maps and photos provide some good leads. Librarys and historic museums are a great place to go. Best of luck out here Yulelah. That is where the Lane County Historical Museum comes into play..... Visit it. And you can learn loads. Anyway. yes. they go by fast. It wasn't really meant to be a history lesson. Just sharing some pictures. Someday, when i have time. I will make one that explains Eugene History with old photos.

Thank you. I love this. The only problem is the images go by too quickly. A slower slide show would be more enjoyable.
