  • A quick video tutorial on how to remove the spare tire from a 2019 - 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe.
More automotive DIY information available at www.programyou...
If you need to change a flat tire on your Hyundai Santa Fe, or simply just want to remove the spare tire you should do the following ( taken from the Hyundai Santa owner's manual )
    TO REMOVE THE SPARE TIRE:
    1. Open the Santa Fe tailgate.
    2. Find the plastic hex bolt cover and remove the cover with a coin or flat-blade screwdriver.
    3. Connect the socket (A) and wheel lug nut wrench (B).
    4. Loosen the bolt enough to lower the spare tire. Turn the wrench counterclockwise until the spare tire reaches the ground.
    5. After the spare tire reaches the ground, continue to turn the wrench counterclockwise, and draw the spare tire outside. Never rotate the wrench excessively, otherwise the spare tire carrier may be damaged.
    6. Draw out the retainer guide through the center hole of the spare tire.
    TO STORE THE SPARE TIRE:
    1. Lay the tire on the ground with the valve stem facing up.
    2. Place the wheel under your Hyundai Santa Fe and install the retainer guide and chain through the wheel center.
    3. Turn the wrench clockwise until it clicks
This video will show you to get access to and remove the spare tire on the following Hyundai models:
2019 Hyundai Santa Fe ( SE, SEL, SEL Plus, Limited and Ultimate )
2020 Hyundai Santa Fe ( SE, SEL, SEL Plus, Limited and Ultimate )

There's a flat head screwdriver in the Styrofoam, it prob has the Phillips end but it can pull out and the flat end is on the other side

Thank you for this video. It was great. Me and my father tried figuring out how to get the tire down and my father pretty much knows everything about cars since he's 75 years old and has been working on cars for like 60 years or more and couldn't figure it out...so we went to you tube and took Us 30 seconds to do it from This video. Thank you again

  • @scott4014

They do provide a flathead screwdriver, it is a Phillips and Flat, you pull the shank and turn it around to open the little hatch. I saw it in your video, and used it today! Great job! I suggest checking the air pressure while you are at it... 60lbs. Mine was at 20, would have been useless.

When I saw the tire is up underneath my vehicle, I got upset lol I thought I would have to climb up under there to get it. Thank you for the video. You saved me SO much frustration! I would have climbed under there and still not have been able to get it off.

The flat head screw driver comes with the car. If you remove the screw driver, you will see that there is an option for either flat or phillips heads.

My new 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe doesn’t have a spare tire. As I was informed by the dealership 😡
It comes with a tire repair kit . How am I supposed to inflate the tire after I repair it.
They said all new cars come that way now 😤

You can actually use the car key on the remote to loosen the spare tire piece instead of a screw driver.

2022 Santa Fe does not have a spare tire but only a Tire Mobility Kit which will only pump up certain flat tires. Most will be stuck and needed to be towed to the nearest tire center. This is a big fail for Hyundai for they raised the price $1500 on the 2022 models and deleted the spare. Even if you buy a share for your 2022 you would need to store it in the back which is a eye sore. I have a 2020 Santa Fe but would not buy a 2022 for my wife because of the lack of the spare.

    • @PYR-Auto
      @PYR-Auto  2 года назад

Yeah unfortunately many of the new models are going to that system or the spare tire is an option.

    • @irvingmartinez5215

Does your 2020 hyundai Santa fe have the system and the emergency tire, which is on the outside under the trunk?
because I want to get the Vin of a 2020 to buy the system and install it to the Santa Fe Calligraphy 2021 that I buy, they say it can because it still has the space and the hole of the second 48 in the trunk.

It's not quite as easy, to say the least, to get the spare back up where it belongs, especially it you have a trailer hitch on your vehicle! Has to be angled in then cranked up a bit, angled some more cranked dome more etc. To me a quite a while to fit it into the slot where it had to go. Wouldn't want to be doing it by the side of the road in the winter that's for sure.
