One of the best poets in my lifetime right there!
Fortunate that I saw him in concert.
Grateful he is wise and optimistic in his old age.
    An American legend.

@Steve Freeman isn't it time to grow up son?
Aren't you tired of always being laughed at?
      Playing the fool in life?
      Never being respected?
Start making better decisions and stop letting a con man control your mind.
      It's time.

    The Boss (Springsteen)
    My First memory
    of a Bruce Springsteen song…
    Dad was test-driving a car
and I happened to go along.
    Windows were down,
    as we rounded the on-ramp.
It was a sunny day -
    the weather was not damp.
    “Hungry Heart,”
    on the radio…played.
    It was a Toyota Celica
    & that memory stayed.
    I bought “Born In The U.S.A.” -
used to listen to it before work.
    Plopping in the cassette
    was always a definite perk!
In my sophomore year of college,
    my roommate loved The Boss.
I listened to a lot of Bruce
though my G.P.A. took a loss.
    The Nebraska Album -
“Atlantic City,” at the time, was #1.
    We faced many challenges,
    but Bruce brightened our sun.
    My Next roommate
    was also a Springsteen fan.
    The River Album played -
many a popped beer in hand.
One Summer, we were at a friend’s
    everyone from the herd.
“Thunder Road” came on the radio
    everyone sang every word.
    “Roselita” is another favorite
    in my over-flowing cup.
    It was always there
    when I needed a pick-me-up.
We were on the bridge in Atlantic City
    windows down…having fun.
    On the radio,
    “Born to Run.”
    Decades later…
a friend gave me two books to read.
    Both about Bruce
    & I followed his lead.
    I am half- way through
    the first one now.
I had no idea of his hardships -
sometimes I shake my head, “Wow!”
    Bruce could’ve given up -
at any time he could have quit.
A life without his music -
just think about that for a bit.
    He inspired me
    to continue my quest.
    Giving up on a dream
    is far from the best.
Clarence Clemons - “The Big Man”...
    Bruce’s partner in crime.
    Each night on stage
    they cre8ed new rhyme.
    I awoke one morning
his sax playing in my soul.
    R.I.P. Good Sir -
your passing still takes a toll.
    “Jungle Land”
    is my all-time fave.
    In difficult times
    it helps me be brave.
    Thank you, Bruce,
    for keeping me above zero.
    To me, you are
    The Greatest American Hero.

      No he is not
That’s why he can’t understand why some people are voting for Trump
But the truth is he survived in this world living in society, working for it to create his own world through his music and help millions of people to be attached with something that in the end is not theirs.
Millions of people don’t even own their life. But at least we can all comfort ourselves with Bruce amazing musical career

    • @Redmenace96

He has many poignant songs about the working class life in America. The album, Nebraska, is a top 10 album all-time for me. I attended 2 performances: River Tour, and Born in the U.S.A tour. Love the guy!
I'm not sure why people think he has the skills to 'advocate' for workers. (fuckin' V. I. Lenin?)
He is a musical genius, and has created great art.
The human tendency to blur celebrity with "goodness" or celebrity with "political wisdom" is equal measure of despair and danger.

His mind is clear. His voice is still amazing. He still can write music that can touch your very soul. His children are all exceptional. He was once stuffed in a garbage can by a nun in the third grade because that's where she said he belonged.
He's won every award there is and hangs with Ex presidents now. He never stopped believing in himself even with all the caustic comments from his father. I couldn't overcome them from my father. When your father calls you " stupid" you believe it.....Bruce is a beacon of decency and hope. To anyone who wants to listen.

Bruce did graduate from Freehold Regional high school but he was bared from the actual graduation ceremony because he refused to cut his hair. Instead he took a bus to NYC and hung out in Greenwich Village for the day. I read that when he showed up to his High School reunion about 20 years ago (at the urging of his wife) his classmates were shocked to learn that he had gone to school with them. In school he was nearly invisible and painfully shy (except when he was playing guitar in his band).

Protecting democacy and the fundamental right to vote are perfectly vital concerns, as is the quality of the young people coming-up and their concerns. Unfortunately, this things are not addressing our root problem, the root problem globally today which is entirely a resoure equation, a physics equation. We have eaten most of the way through our endowment and the economics are blown cos what's left is too expensive to access at prices that allow for the smooth operation of our model. We are in the early days of our civilization's collapse as a result, not a qualitative assessment there, just the raw math. Every civic woe we suffer from today has this basic math at its root and is utterly predictable under the circumstances. It's all happened before, other than the scale it is happening at now, that part is unprecedented. The situation can't be fixed by protecting democracy nor through optimism. It's impervious to our concerns. Makes me all the more nostagic for the days of "The River" and "Born in the USA." Bruce was amongst the last of the great pop culture icons to be spawned by the days of our peak when the cup was running over. The rot has set in everywhere now 40 years on, it's visible everywhere, the fact that the glory days are done. Pop music a very good barometer. Dismal compared to Bruce's heyday.

@Sebastian Baca • Springsteen was scrawny as a teenager & twenties. It wasn't until he started weight-lifting that he started to bulk up. At his age, his doctor probably told him to shed some pounds and Bruce has the self-control & discipline to do just that. Hopefully it's not an illness weight loss.
