25%? Still too expensive. Wow, that’s a big Walmart. I worked for Walmart, all you do is go slap a sale sign on something full price, and people think, hey that’s on sale. People are that smart.
All sales final at that store.. just go to another Walmart if it breaks. Walmart takes stuff back that wasn't even bought there and exchanges it as long as it is the same as what they have in store.
Give some info. This store is a “division 1” store. Mt. Pleasant, Brownsville, these are also division 1 (basically no full grocery or fresh). I was a manger in this store for about two years and I now work at the West Mifflin store. Waterworks has a reputation to it. The customers are very bad in this store. Money wise, it’s probably not pulling enough profit to keep it going. The store is old and does not make enough to warrant a remodel (go to Brownsville and you’ll be shocked at the difference). Obviously different volume, but that sort of stuff only holds so much weight. Also, and this is more inside stuff, but the.biggest reason, which corporate will never say, is that the shopping centers landlord is not in favor of Walmart. The lease was coming due and word is that they were wanting more in rent. I personally no the relationship between the two, and I would put sons life that profit combines with rent is why this is going down.
That's what i hear. I just hope all the employees will find something good after this store closes. I've heard some have already applied for jobs at other businesses in the Waterworks Mall. They have all been offered positions at any of the nearby walmarts to keep their jobs, though.
When I'm in town next week, maybe I'll go check it out, see what's left and if any of it is worth buying. I went to the last day of a nearby Kmart a couple years back and surpringly found some pretty decent pieces of clothing that day.
I really love the trademark white tiles Walmart stores had prior to 2005-ish. I really don't like the diarrhea brown floors nor polished concrete. Very ungodly if you ask me.
Waterworks Mall is a very unusual place in terms of its location and clientele. For starters it is situated in an upper middle class area (Aspinwall & O'Hara Twp) and Fox Chapel (An affluent neighborhood is just next door). However, there was lots of riff raff that came on buses from other areas. About 3 weeks ago I was there and witnessed in Marshalls and TJ Maxx about 5 little kids, probably ages 11-14 go on a theft spree with very little concern about getting caught. Their operation was to go into the stores, go directly to where the backpacks were, take them in an area of the store, take off the tags and put them on their back as if they came in with them. Then they would shove all kinds of clothing etc in them and walk out. Waiting outside was an older kid who would collect the backpacks so these kids could move to the next store. I heard them talk about what they got at Walmart as well. My friends and I were going to the Waterworks Cinema and there is a narrow walkway that goes between the buildings back to the Cinema. As we were walking through this walkway, we came across these kids again in bushes going through their "loot". They saw us and only looked mildly concerned. There were price tags and store tags strewn all along the walkway. I have to say it was quite disturbing because these kids were so young but so bold and "seasoned" in these crime sprees. The other disturbing thing was that in both stores I told store associates what was going on and they just shrugged their shoulders and did nothing. You would have thought they would have investigated or called Mall security to alert them, but they did nothing. The following day I called the store and told the Store Managers of this theft spree, and they were highly disturbed and said that they had received multiple calls from other shoppers they witnessed the same thing. They said they were going to review their security cameras and investigate. The Mall, the Mall security, the stores, and the local Police need to get this under control or that whole mall is going to be in trouble. It is a large strip plaza that is very busy, but if regular people like me feel it is unsafe or continue to witness brazen theft, people will avoid going there and the place will fold. Brick and mortar stores are struggling already so these f-noids that are doing this need to get the beat down. Those little kids in particular will be either dead or in jail by the time they are 18.
Wallie, the crowds and craziness of that Walmart reminds me so much of my Somerset Ky one. If you go there you proceed at your own risk because it gets nuts in there.
Me and my bf and his 8 year old brother went and some guy rammed the cart into the 8 year old hard af and didn’t apologize. Another guy was harassing people trying to sell already bought things. And a couple of ladies were drinking (alcohol) in cups and I didn’t realize they were until they weren’t paying attention to their baby for a minute and the baby drank from the cup or put the straw in its mouth enough and knocked the cup over and the lady snatched it out of its hands and turned to the other lady and said “the kid just drank the alcohol” and they like laughed…
I saw Walmart move into the Pittsburgh region in the mid 80's this is the first I know of that has closed. I know in other areas they closed a bunch. I saw one in Cincinnati that it appears they made smaller.
Talked to the associates while I was there. The main issue is the amount of theft and the shooting that occurred earlier in the year. Legit watched a lady walk out with her baby and an over-flowing cart. Paid for nothing. No one stopped her; they said they’re not allowed because they fight back too much and Walmart doesn’t want to get sued. This location is also right on our city bus line, so it’ll be a struggle for a lot of people to get to the next closest one (it doesn’t sit on the bus line). Employees can transfer to another Walmart within 20 miles, but many aren’t. I will say the deals are way better than Black Friday, lol the 2 hour lines are worth the wait.
The news will never report that... We had a nice mall in Macon..good anchor stores, activity, well maintained. then the gangs, shootings, thefts, assaults, car break ins, etc etc.. The money left. Decent people simply left the war zone. The mall is now a dark shadow of what it once was..a few off0brand stores remain...but it's dead.
That happened with Savealot in upstate NY. They opened some stores in the Ghetto, they were being robbed blind. They were also told not do anything except tell the shoplifter to pay for their groceries when they leave. Prices were low, but the manager said we can't run a food pantry. He said expect this place to be padlocked any day now.... Now they created a food desert.
That's on them, the ghetto walmart I go to had the same problem till they did something about It. You know like getting protection with the police, installing some anti theft barriers and security at the entrances, cameras in every direction that could see the pours on your face, and carts that stop dead in their tracks when the detectors detect something that wasn't paid for. Believe me, you know your busted when the sirens start blairing and your cart slams the brakes. Before then they closed the store down three times since the 90s when my parents went to it. Very effective for stopping theft, and even shootings have become a rarity.
CEO in an interview more or less stated that Wally will go to (basically) online, pickup for everything. No in store access, 5 years down the road. It was veiled, implied.
Not gonna lie, I was so surprised to hear that song in the background inside of Walmart. So that was a nice rarity in regards to music that's typically piped into stores, especially by today's standards.
One store I could see maybe can go there and I don't know if it ever will happen is Kroger plus it would be nice to have one in Pittsburgh and I know they would do so well in Pittsburgh but again I don't know if ever will happen it's hard telling what could happen to that Walmart.
Kroger used to have a presence in the Pittsburgh but unionization ran them out. Kroger was NOT going to cave to union demands. Also Giant Eagle will keep them OUT.
@@drewk1514 Kroger had a LARGE presence in Pittsburgh, In fact Kroger leaving is what lead to Giant Eagles surge in the 1980s. Big Bird bought a lot of Kroger locations. Hell, Except for signage the Cedar Avenue (North Side) Giant Eagle still even looks like a 1970s Kroger! (It WAS a Kroger when I was a kid.).
I try to avoid Walmart as much as possible, especially during the Christmas season, but sometimes it's unavoidable. I'm physically drained after a shopping trip there, especially now that my local Walmart is pretty much all self-checkout.
I just don't understand exactly what it is that people want. Here's an alternative to waiting in a long line, scan 'n go can get a long line but it seems to go pretty fast, especially in my Walmart, must be 30 plus machines there. I don't have to have conversation, I scan it, I pay for it, and I'm out the door. No waiting for people to have endless questions, conversation because they're lonely with the cashier. Scan it, pay for it, go! Works for me!
@@2puffs770 I don’t love shopping at Walmart either, I’ll admit that, but I do fully agree with you. I’m a huge fan of the self checkout, it’s fast, it’s incredibly easy, and more. Fast in and fast out. I like it.
Since I work full time Monday-Friday my Walmart shopping trips are always done FIRST thing in the morning on a Saturday or Sunday. Even during the Christmas season I'm there first thing in the morning and never really have had an issue. Plus I'm not one of those shoppers that have to go up and down every aisle to see what they have. I have a plan in mind, I know what I want, where everything is, so I go in, get what I need and get out, hahahaha! Plus I love the self checkout's as well because most of the stuff I get there are cleaning supplies, toiletries, and stuff like that, and much faster to use. Grocery stores I tend to not use the self checkouts cuz the people I've seen do not know how to read a screen and or listen to what the machine is telling them to do, then the light starts flashing, and holds everything up cuz they only have one front end attendant where as Walmart I've seen 2-3 workers at the self checkout so if an issue arises, it can be corrected quickly.
@@2puffs770 I agree with you here, and I love the fact how Giant Eagle now has Scan, Pay and Go because as I stated in a previous post, people make me mad at the grocery store when they "attempt" to use the self check out, and can't read a screen or listen to what the machine is telling them to do!
Oh calm down. If you do a little self checkout and are stressed out by shopping at Walmart you’re not very mentally stable and should see a psychologist or psychiatrist.
I noticed many Walmart stores closing in a instant. Last week on a Monday I Walmart getting things. I got halfway home and realized I forgot something so the next day I went back and the store permanently closed without notice. Something seems suspicious here like what’s been buying the buildings. I researched about this & nothing
lately I've been reading that Walmart is in trouble and they will be closing some stores, I have to agree Walmart isn't the best store to shop, myself i haven't been in any Walmart for at least 4-5 years...yeah, I agree a Hills comeback would be fantastic
Walmart needs to pull there heads out of their asses and build stores without grocery stores. Especially if they are in trouble. All big companies fall eventually. There’s a Kmart by me that closed. It would be perfect for a Walmart without a grocery store. Would make a killing too. The only competition is a big lots and a dollar general. No Target to compete against
The locations around Columbus, Ohio, are so dirty. The management just doesn't care and it shows. Meijer and Aldi are better options. I wish Lidl would come to Ohio.
Wow. Another cool video. Hello Wallie and Kayla. Hopefully they will close my Flemington NJ walmart!! The rate of theft is going up and we are in a good neighborhood. And also there are never enough cashiers and they are always out of stock on things and you have to watch for expired things ( I know cause I used to work there). The employees are rude and they are terrible to work for as they treat their employees like crap. We were overworked and underpaid and not appreciated. Plus it dirty. So I'm just waiting for them to go. There have been rumors lately that mine was closing and them putting in a senior village. If it does close then I won't care because there is nothing but bad memories and I will shop at Costco still. They already closed the walmart in Whitehouse NJ and made that into a cannabis center. U can smell it for miles!! Anyway love u guys can't wait for next video. Give it a few they will reduce the prices further as time draws near to the end. Much love and respect from Flemington NJ
I graduated from Tarentum High in 65. Left the area in 79 and moved to Denton, TX. We are retired and now living in Richmond, KY. For a while and not so frequently now visit back home. I am amazed at the attitudes of folks there. It gets progressively worse. The Alle/Kiski is still great and there are some great folks there but, wow! To me it seems a lot of down river folks have moved in and brought their frustrations with them. We stay at the mills Marriott often and shop at the Walmart there and at the heights. We really prefer visiting friends in Vandergrift. Wishing hotel accommodations were there. Whats wrong with Tarentum??? I worked at Isalys for 3 years till 65 then the Army. It was always a great place to live!!!
I'm 60 years old, live in a little town in Ohio it's well known for something that changed the world In 1969? See if anyone can guess what the town is called that I live in? It's a shame that the world has come to this, I'm on board with you 100% there's some rude and crude people out there. Sometimes I take a step back and just wonder what kind of upbringing did they have if they act like that now and if they have kids what kind of upbringing are they gonna have. You guys always get your videos no matter how busy the place is that's what I like about your channel I've been a subscriber probably for 3 years now. Be safe and be aware of your surroundings hope you had a good Halloween and happy Thanksgiving.
When a Walmart closed in my city several years ago and the store-wide discount had gone to 50%, it was similar to Black Friday, with long lines at checkouts. I still didn't find as good of deals as I find combing the clearance aisles regularly.
That looks like my Walmart every day here in Mount Pleasant, Texas wall-to-wall people rude in their own world. I will pay extra and shop at Brookeshire’s to avoid Walmart. I know there are some things you have to go to Walmart for, but I avoid them at all cost.
Out here in Seattle they seem to be replacing the non-supercenter stores with WalMart Neighborhood stores but it's just a grocery store so I don't know what the deal is with that there are so many grocery stores chains already.... The funny thing is that Amazon is doing the same thing, they also are opening these Amazon Fresh grocery stores. What is funny is in a shopping mall in Bellevue WA called Factoria (yeah that is the real name) they had one anchor store as a non-supercenter WalMart next to a Target and on the opposite side of the mall they had a Safeway grocery store, the Safeway closed down and turned in to a new Amazon Fresh Grocery store and a few months later the WalMart shut down.... Go figure.
We have a similar situation in the township I live in, upstate NY. The town has a super Walmart and what I call a regular Walmart about 5 miles apart. I am surprised the smaller store is still there, and I expect a notice its closing sometime. The greater told me that Walmart is thinking about a 5 dollar cart deposit, because so many of the carts are stolen. Also thief is high in this store. And it quite far from the city, where there is little retail anymore. They even rob Dollar Tree quite often, which is about the only retail in the city. Walgreens is giving up this week in the city, and its hurts so many local older people, but the shoplifting preps don't care.
WallieB26, so sad your Walmart is closing! I noticed one lady hardly had anything in her cart. Hope none of these close in Oklahoma. Really enjoyed your video!
I got my PS5 there in December 2020. I always called it the ghetto walmart because of the clientele ( it is on 2 pretty ghetto bus lines) and that's its small for a Walmart
I used to work as a phone rep out there for a few months, and it was probably the most fun working with most of the associates (yall know who you are!!) but the amount of theft that I saw was insane, we had to keep almost EVERYTHING in the electronics section locked up, and right after I had set up the displays for the iphone 13 (when that was new) a few months later, they were stolen! ripped off the stands! I’ll definitely be sad to see it go, but they were so short-staffed that i can’t even blame them. almost everyone that i knew had quit or been fired, it just wasn’t a great environment to be in more times than not.
I wish Walmart did tap to pay and scan as you go... But I can see multiple reasons why Walmart doesn't do either, the main one being theft prevention. I don't typically shop at either WM near me because it is typically a waste of my time to shop there regardless of when I go.
Gosh that looks like a very old small Walmart from the 80's before the SuperCenters. The interior seems to have been updated cosmetically at least. They tried to squeeze a lot in there though.
This Walmart opened in 2003 or 2004. It was a Hills department store until 1999 and then Ames from 1999 until 2002. It used to have a drop ceiling. Walmart took that out when they remodeled the store and updated it.
Looks like a smaller Walmart store. Many smaller regular sized Walmart stores no longer exist. Especially in my area. They all either moved up the road a ways or across the street in the mid 90s and 2000s. When they all moved fromtheir exisiting smaller locations, they all upgraded to being Supercenters or the larger stores.
Walmart really doesn't do clearance sales on the items what they do is they tell people they're closing in so many days get what you need now and then they close the store and ship everything to other stores it's not like the normal going out of business sales
Even though it feels like it's OUTSIDE of the City limits, The Waterworks IS actually IN the city limits. The Waterworks (And St. Margaret hospital) were built on property once owned by the Pittsburgh Water & Sewage Authority (The remaining part of the PWSA plant is across Freeport Road). I get a "kick" out of the stores in the plaza claiming to be IN Fox Chapel when ALL of them are actually IN Pittsburgh, proper. The site DOES have the same Zip code as Fox Chapel. But so does Blawnox. Not only business do this, Regular folks do it. When I lived in Brentwood, I knew people who said they lived in Brentwood that I 100% know for sure lived in Carrick! (I guess Brentwood SOUNDS better than Carrick. Carrick has 15227 on its south/east side and 15210 on its north/west side. I'm SURE no one on the 15210 side of Carrick claims to live in Mount Oliver, LOL. "FUN FACT": One NEVER finds another full grocery store in the same plaza as a Giant Eagle. There is a TINY shopping center in Swissvale, PA that in the 1970s had a Kroger AND an A&P in the same plaza, But I have NEVER seen such a thing if there's a Giant Eagle.
I was there today at 75% the place has been striped bare I waited in line for 3 hours and everyone was polite and respectful ,we need a grocery in this area.
State of Pa sure has increased in crime. New senator states he wants to let prisons release prisoners for crime. Kind of total lawlessness in this state. Current governor should be asked why?
Walmart does this a lot... They come in and put ma n pa business out of business and When they get negative incidents , example: shootings and high theft rate , they shut down and leave ! Leaving a town in turmoil ...
Waterworks is considered Pittsburgh. I remember it opening. I usually go to the Pittsburgh Mills location due to greater selection. I remember that mall management didn't want the superstore that most Walmart's are. Probably because Giant Eagle would not the competition in the same mall.
Walmart is shady... Look up.. Is Walmart good for America.. You can watch it for free.... I do not miss shopping in a store...... Too many nuts make it downright scary....
I've been to Walmart alot since I was 7 back in 2012, I used to live in Indiana and there was a Walmart about 20min from my old house, now that I live in Florida there's a Walmart that is 8min from my house, sometimes I'll go to Walmart and buy whatever I'm craving for, like potato chips. When I was around 8 or 9 years old I would go to Walmart and buy toys that I like, like a toy bowling set, sometimes when I'm bored I'd just go to Walmart and see if I find anything interesting, I am a professional bowler so sometimes I'll need to buy equipment for my bowling gear, the workers there are very friendly
How do they get away with claiming all sales are final? If something has a warranty issue, then they must surely be required to take it back. They wouldn't get away with that in Australia.

Good News. Walmart is horrible. Treats employees like crap.
That's what i hear. I just hope all the employees will find something good after this store closes. I've heard some have already applied for jobs at other businesses in the Waterworks Mall. They have all been offered positions at any of the nearby walmarts to keep their jobs, though.
@@WallieB26 if it was me I would of moved to petco that’s next door it’s nicer and things.
Walmart overworks employee
@@WallieB26 They mistreat their employees, do not treat them like human beings. The employees should look for a job that treats them humanly.
Got that right ..if people only knew....remember this ...what goes around comes around...
When I'm in town next week, maybe I'll go check it out, see what's left and if any of it is worth buying. I went to the last day of a nearby Kmart a couple years back and surpringly found some pretty decent pieces of clothing that day.
It's amazing to see that store still has tile floors
I really love the trademark white tiles Walmart stores had prior to 2005-ish. I really don't like the diarrhea brown floors nor polished concrete. Very ungodly if you ask me.
Polished concrete is more modren
Used to shop there when it was Hills. That Walmart was always a mess, the very few times I went in.
Thanks Wallie and Kayla for Reach 51,000 Subscribers You are Awesome.

Walmart sucks. I'm happy to see them going out of business.
😢😢 mainly because of the fellas
That's on them, the ghetto walmart I go to had the same problem till they did something about It. You know like getting protection with the police, installing some anti theft barriers and security at the entrances, cameras in every direction that could see the pours on your face, and carts that stop dead in their tracks when the detectors detect something that wasn't paid for. Believe me, you know your busted when the sirens start blairing and your cart slams the brakes. Before then they closed the store down three times since the 90s when my parents went to it. Very effective for stopping theft, and even shootings have become a rarity.
Walmart hire too many black hoodies driving custom away use the place drug place
CEO in an interview more or less stated that Wally will go to (basically) online, pickup for everything.
No in store access, 5 years down the road. It was veiled, implied.
Definitely not a surprise. As busy as Waterworks is, that Walmart always gave off a late-stage Kmart.
summer breeze seals and crofts 😂 great tune
Never thought i would see the day so many walmarts close up shop. Maine has kept all theirs so far.
Wait a minute? They not playing Walmart radio lol
I noticed many Walmart stores closing in a instant. Last week on a Monday I Walmart getting things. I got halfway home and realized I forgot something so the next day I went back and the store permanently closed without notice. Something seems suspicious here like what’s been buying the buildings. I researched about this & nothing
This brings me back to when i worked at walmart. Christmas was always a crazy time.
👋 wallie and Kayla hope you had a wonderful Halloween.
Happy November month ..
lately I've been reading that Walmart is in trouble and they will be closing some stores, I have to agree Walmart isn't the best store to shop, myself i haven't been in any Walmart for at least 4-5 years...yeah, I agree a Hills comeback would be fantastic
They used to be great but ever since the pandemic it’s gone downhill. I never feel safe walking in there and it’s not a discount store.
I was looking for this comment but I agree Walmart is in trouble!
I’m looking forward to the abandoned video!
Thanks for the video. SHARED TO THE BURGH!
Love the video it's sad Walmart is closing
With Walmart closing stores people should really look at their finances the economy is going to take a hit in the coming future you can see it
“Underperforming” could be related to the theft. Walmart has to eat those costs and it directly affects profitability

Why is that?

Go figure.
Great video Wallie! I'd love to see a completely new intro soon on your channel! This one feels a bit overused.
Good to hear there's at least one other person in this world that doesn't like Target.
Go Meijer!! I love them!
The sadness of a Walmart closing -- but I'm proud of the work that I try to do as a Walmart Associate

Your brave Wallie. I would have never stepped foot in there! I really can't stand Walmart in general 😔
💯👏.,May they all shutdown.
It’s really rare to see a Walmart go out of business. Usually, they put Kmarts in bankrupt
Wow. Such a busy store. Great video with what you could work with!
also almost forgot to mention wine&spirits is now abandoned down near petco they moved right next store to itchiban if you didn't already know
I wish Walmart did tap to pay and scan as you go... But I can see multiple reasons why Walmart doesn't do either, the main one being theft prevention. I don't typically shop at either WM near me because it is typically a waste of my time to shop there regardless of when I go.
I’m not saying this is a good thing, but they do have Walmart Pay for a contactless option, and Scan and Go as part of Walmart Plus.
Awesome video 👍😎🇺🇸
Gosh that looks like a very old small Walmart from the 80's before the SuperCenters. The interior seems to have been updated cosmetically at least. They tried to squeeze a lot in there though.
This Walmart opened in 2003 or 2004. It was a Hills department store until 1999 and then Ames from 1999 until 2002. It used to have a drop ceiling. Walmart took that out when they remodeled the store and updated it.
Great video friend. Glad you made some points about how people should be polite.
The Walmart near me has a cop there all the time because of theft
Looks like a smaller Walmart store. Many smaller regular sized Walmart stores no longer exist. Especially in my area. They all either moved up the road a ways or across the street in the mid 90s and 2000s. When they all moved fromtheir exisiting smaller locations, they all upgraded to being Supercenters or the larger stores.
Walmart really doesn't do clearance sales on the items what they do is they tell people they're closing in so many days get what you need now and then they close the store and ship everything to other stores it's not like the normal going out of business sales
AMEN BROTHER!
I knew someone who worked there and they told me that the store regularly had like $40,000 worth of stuff stolen per month
Awesome Wallie
Went to aisles for was more then 10 items to the less then 10 item or less line, full carts
Sam Walton never wanted Urban Stores when he was alive. Too much mayhem and theft.
Hey there Wallie and Kayla hope that you guys had a fun Halloween 🎃🎃
This cracks me up I live in bon air and I thought this exact same thing

Is there still one down the road? I forget the name but I don't think it was a chain.
Did it become anything yet?
Its being worked on currently. Parking lot is blocked off and the facade of the building is being torn apart. I don't know what it is to become yet.
The BedBath & Beyond store next to Peco store that isn't too far from the west of this Walmart is now a HomeGoods store.
I'm getting anxiety just from watching this video with seeing all the crowds
And they are always moving slower than dirt. None of them move with a purpose

Another closing Walmart this year? Wow, kinda surprising tbh
Sad that walmarts are going and yet Dollar Generals keep popping up there is like 3 in my area and there less then 10 miles from each other.
Why was it permanently closed?
State of Pa sure has increased in crime. New senator states he wants to let prisons release prisoners for crime. Kind of total lawlessness in this state. Current governor should be asked why?
Walmart does this a lot... They come in and put ma n pa business out of business and When they get negative incidents , example: shootings and high theft rate , they shut down and leave ! Leaving a town in turmoil ...
I live in Indiana and go to Meijer as well. If I need something from Wally World I'll get it off Amazon 😆
I grew up in sharpsburgh so I went to that Walmart a lot growing up can’t believe it’s gonna be gone.
Waterworks is considered Pittsburgh. I remember it opening. I usually go to the Pittsburgh Mills location due to greater selection. I remember that mall management didn't want the superstore that most Walmart's are. Probably because Giant Eagle would not the competition in the same mall.
I could see a Savers or Target going in there.
Your mention of Meijer reminded me of when I patronized them when I lived in Ohio. I wish they'd come to Pittsburgh.
Meijers is a great grocery. Better chothes than walmart& more attractive looking inside

How do they get away with claiming all sales are final? If something has a warranty issue, then they must surely be required to take it back. They wouldn't get away with that in Australia.
