    I've got an 85 GMC stepvan and put it on a 87 GMC 1 ton motor home chassis. It has takin 3 yrs but it almost done, and did everything myself. It has bed/couch, 2 recliners, fridge, micro, stand up shower, solar and a 42" TV. It's only a mid size, but still have room for the Harley. See ya on the back roads. ✌

    "... a bunch of old Cyprus"
    Those words and the accompanying image just cracked me up, and whilst all of the many word play images were really good too, this one really got me!
    Not only are you a very accomplished storyteller and natural comic, your editing is absolutely hilarious! And very professional, too!
    You have excellent taste and judgement in choosing that lovely stepvan body and the F150 4x4 rolling chassis to create your beautiful Travel Cabin.
    Your Engineer has done a really nice job of mating the two into this unique and capable vehicle which truly offers the best of both worlds.
    That the family of the original owner were able to see the family van back on the road in its original livery was very nice indeed!
    Your ideas for using your van to bring in income to support your travelling is a great idea as I would imagine that with your experience you are an excellent travel guide and hiking and fishing companion and that your guests will have a wonderful time with you.

Once it’s sprayed on, it’s effectively never coming off. Just be careful. There may be products that give off less voc but it’s something I never even thought of when applying it. I won’t use it again unless it can be encapsulated because it’s otherwise great in sealing and r value per inch is unbeatable. Ugh... the smell burns. Check it on RUclips there’s lots of info on it. Killer van. I have a feeling you will be looking at superchargers soon haha
    One thing to note... id build a cover to go over the wiring harnesses I saw exposed behind the front passenger wheel. I had a friend that hit a wood pallet in a Jeep and for some reason Jeep decided to put the main wiring harness behind the plastic fender liner. It didn't turn out well. Lots of sticks could do the same offroad.. plus water off the tires when raining

    • @bucktales66
      @bucktales66  3 года назад

      Thanks William. Yeah I do want to try to seal that up a little better. But surprisingly the builder Chris was able to transplant everything without extending a single wiring harness. It’s been on the road for about 14,000 miles and so far so good. But yes I would’ve loved to of had the eco-boost. The mileage would’ve been slightly better and this thing is great for flat ground but it’s definitely under powered at elevation in the Eastern Sierra’s

    for quick camp setup, the best purchase I ever made was a couple bivvy cots. Unfold it, pop the legs down, unfold the 'tent' support arms and lock them in place. Toss your blankets or sleeping bag inside and you're done. Takes 5 minutes. The whole thing folds up into almost no space at all. They do wiggle around a bit if you're a fairly active sleeper but its not a big deal. If you were gonna put it on top, you could just use some cheap ratcheting tie downs to lock it in place if you're worried. There's even enough room for a backpack inside with you. It's tall enough to keep bugs off you. Not super lightweight though for you backpackers out there, but if you want a bug-free cheap option for the roof of the van, they're awesome.

    NIce Van. Love the fact that you used a 4 WD pickup chassis under it. Is it a gasser or diesel?
    One of the coolest motorcycle carrier I ever saw was called the "Red Ant Motorcycle Carrier" patented in 1970. I actually worked at the Factory back then and built 1000"s of them. You can Google it on the Patent Web Site and get pictures and the engineering of how the swing loading worked. I actually built a scaled up one for my Class A Motorcoach to carry my Yamaha 1200 XTZ Tene're. It works easy and needs no ramp. Super simple and easy to build. I added dual reciever hitches to the back of my Coach at the frame ends to mount the carrier. So it's removeable.
    I'm located in North Central Texas about 25 miles North of Fort Worth, so drop by when you find yourself looking for a place to park it. I have a full hook up and dump station next to my big shop behind the house. We can kick around some ideas. I built a lot of Custom Vans back in the 60's and 70's. I'm an Older broke down verion of you. But still kicking it! Seriously! Im retired now and love projects like this. I have a shop full of them underway roght now.

    • @bucktales66
      @bucktales66  3 года назад

      I can’t find anything on the old Google for red ant motorcycle carrier. But I went with the 3.5 L non-turbo gas. To be perfectly honest I just assumed all 3.5 L were eco-boost. Which would be nice in the mountains but then I would have to run premium gas. This truck is made to run on flex fuel ethanol bio fuel any bullshit you run through it. I don’t even have water separator‘s because this engine is designed to run on garbage and I planned on being in Mexico and Central America for 3 to 4 months a year so diesel is pretty tough to find in places and pretty pricey. I love diesels But this engine is pretty damn reliable and I can buy a brand new one from the factory in Mexico for $1400 and have it installed for about 500 down there. I’ll be going through Texas a couple times a year if my damn memory remembers I’ll definitely stop by. Thanks for the comment
