I can say the same thing I was 10 years old when this album came out. and was always hanging out with my uncle and since I can remember I grew up With Rock n roll , reggae, metal and punk rock, my uncle passed away this sure bring back good memories...
@@whojahbless1560 Sounds like your uncle had great taste in music. I think this album was the true birth of Heavy Metal. From heavy blues of Sabbath and hard rock of Zeppelin to Mershall stacks , denim and leather, screaming vocals and Attitude all came together on this album in 1980!

Right in time for the rise of ROCK !!! and the little bit of time disco was loved or hated. You were looked as a trator if you were caught listening to disco . I've got this album and many other Priest albums on cassette , if only I'd bought them on vinyl back in the day , maybe cassettes are more rare nowadays but they'll never match vinyl 🤘
I spin "Screaming for Vengeance", "Defenders of the Faith", and "Ram It Down" about once a week each on my turntable still.
Plus the album artwork is outstanding on the JP lineup
Keep your cassettes. With all the remastering going on they are just like vinyl for original sound.

I’ve recently acquired sad wings and stupidly passed a chance to get an old copy of British steel at my local record store.
In 1980 my big brothers were listening to Nugent , Aerosmith, KISS , etc and i loved em all ,but I wanted my own sound. Went to a friend of a friends house in the big city , Tulsa , and heard this for the first time. HOLY SHT !!! Went to Starship recordc the next day and got the tape. Stayed in the player all summer long. I found my sound !!!

I was in the fifth grade in 1975 and got to see Priest and Kiss together in Evansville, Indiana. It was an honor and memory that has lasted me a lifetime. Seen Priest 40 years later in 2015 and they still rule!

They still play live. They had a tour planned for 2020 but that was canceled for obvious reasons.

I remember Getting this LP in High school. I wasn't happy and heard before hand from a friend that Les Binks was no longer with the group. Then I heard Dave Holland's playing and drum sound. I was absolutely floored. Great drum sound and drumming. Great feel and groove to his playing. He was and is still my favorite Priest Drummer. RIP...Scott Travis does an insane job though. Cheers to him.
Wow that's awesome. I got 1996-99 music for hs so no complaints -- tiny music, super unknown etc -- but your description of the drummer situation perspective was enlightening. Never cared to listen to any but Dave drumming. I mean I do cuz it's priest I'm gonna listen to all of it but holmes is their drummer and Scott was his replacement and they both dominate equally but your story was very interesting about being bummed binks was done. I guess the moral of the story is ever me mber of priest is amazing ha

Hell yeah. Dave Holland is a CLASSIC hard rock/heavy metal drummer. Vinnie Appice did *this* kind of drumming for Dio for a long ass time to great results, and people didn't seem to complain. Most people now days think of Painkiller, and Scott Travis's flashy playing first I guess. The hi-hat work on this track rules. There's swagger to Holland's playing, for sure.
He's the only drummer I've seen that holds the sticks above his head if a song doesn't require drums right away...other drummers are drinking fluids and stretching during the short break in their gig. This guy is a beast! He did this on purpose basically calling other drummers pussys
he's not just solid, he's a fucking anchor. Dave Holland is one of the best and heaviest O.G. metal drummers in the world. he's unsung, but he's better than most. check out 'The Sinner' from the '88 tour. one of the baddest-ass metal drum performances ever. fuck the naysayers, Dave Holland fucking rules.

I used to love KISS when I was a preteen, but when I started high school, I began to grow out of them. When the NWBHM arrived in America, I became a huge fan of bands like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, Motörhead. I also got into AC/DC and so.e of the classic British bands of the 60's and 70's such as Led Zeppelin, The Who Pink Floyd, and Black Sabbath.
