I don't think you understand how important it is that you're doing this. You are taking up the mantle of famous natural educators and conservationists by sharing your perspective on animals in a way that's both relatable and keeps the focus on the animals rather than on you. This puts you in the same category as your boy Steve Irwin, and I believe if he was alive today he'd thank you for continuing his work.

Yeah, I was the same because I thought being a vet was one of the only professions that had to do with animals (kinda, I knew there were other jobs but the default I like animals jobs as a kid is to say you want to be a vet). I thankfully knew being a vet wouldn't be okay for me after I lost my first cat (he basically died in my arms when I was around 4/5 years old, that emotionally messed me up probably for life 😅). Then I really wanted to discover new animals and species and record and document them! Unfortunately that also meant that I couldn't just blow off school watching nature documentaries and hoping that my hyperfixation without knowing anyone with animal careers would fling me into such a niche job, especially where I live 😅
At least some things don't change and here I am as an adult still enjoying animal content just as much as I did as a kid! Haha (and thankfully not a vet. That job would have crushed me...)

One of my favorite tidbits about octopus intelligence is about an octopus who didn't like one particular employee. Can't remember if it was some form of research center or aquarium. Anyway, if she ever got near its tank, it used its "jet" to spray water on her. Every. Single. Time. The employee was transferred for a while. Months. Maybe a full year. One day she decided to visit her old place of work...and got hosed with water for her troubles. This implies that octopus don't just have excellent memories, but are capable of holding grudges. It is indeed a good thing they don't live very long. They'd make us pay for calamari...

Female Crocodiles are very picky and only mate with the largest and strongest male around. So Gustav not only mated, when he was around he was the ONLY one mating. Fortunately, none of his offspring seems to show his mutation, it may not have been genetic or it may have jumped some generations. If it does jump some generations, this would turn out to be a great example of evolution trough mutation. A random mutation that was helpful for the survival and reproduction of the first one to show it making it show more often during generations.

From what I read, leopard seals will on occasion venture out all the way to Tasmania, which is what puts them in contact with platypi. And since platypus don’t normally interact with such a large, aquatic apex predator, it’s an easy meal for the seal. They’ve also popped up in Sydney
