One thing not mentioned is the two-piece barrel. Some traditionalists hate this, but it's far easier to get the barrel shroud perfectly straight. I picked up a like-new S&W 638 that I got dirt cheap because the barrel was visibly canted by almost 1/16". The two-piece system eliminates this. Accuracy should be just fine. Back in the day, The Dan Wesson revolvers with two-piece barrels were easily capable of hitting 10 steel silouette chickens (smaller than a sheet of printer paper) at 50 yards standing freestyle with a time limit. So I think the two-piece barrel is a good thing.

    • @jackgreenstalk777
      @jackgreenstalk777 4 месяца назад +2

It is, and makes the barrels relatively low cost to replace. Even the mim parts, are consistent and strong and drop in replaceable. I've heard long time s&w master gun smiths argue they are made just as good today, and s&w still guarantees on their sub 3 inch revolvers from a vice will keep a 1.7 inch group at 7 yards, 3.9 inch group at 14 yards and 6.3 inch or less group at 21 yards. I'd say that is solid for short barrel snubs, its more how well the shooter can aim/steadily pull the trigger. New or old. If you have a working s&w revolver it is a gem 👍👍🇺🇸

Hey man I've really been enjoying all your revolver content recently. I picked up a Ruger Security Six last week, after never having shot or owned a revolver. I shot it for the first time yesterday and I was blown away by how much fun it was. I don't think it will enter my carry rotation though due to its age and an issue with the ejector rod. However, people dismiss wheelguns in favor of autos nowadays, when a wheelgun might actually be a better option in some cases. Who knows, maybe I just dont have the right one yet?
So glad I found your channel and subbed!

Security Sixes are awesome & I'm sure Ruger would fix anything like the ejector rod...back in the 80's a shooting buddy had a problem with his & Ruger repaired it & had it back to him in a week or so....
So carry, shoot, & enjoy your's...
One advantage revolvers have in a self defense scenario is that most semi autos will go out of battery & become non-functional if pressed hard against an attacker's body during a struggle while a revolver will still fire....

The DA pull is smooth with no stacking and predictable and the size is perfect for all day every day carry. It have made its way into my rotation right along side the Wilson Combat EDC x9, CZ Shadow 2 Compact, Stacatto CS, and Sig P365 AXG Legion, and into my Micro pocket carries when I’m in the mood which include Kimber Micro 9, and Beretta Tomcat.

i have an old model 640 that i've carried off and on for years. i replaced the rubber grip with a nice, wood "banana" grip that has room for all three fingers, has a good palm swell and protection for the knuckle up front. i'll go for the weight of that piece over any airweight. i don't notice the weight on a good belt and i don't notice the recoil either. the airweights i've shot always seem to want to do somersaults. it's also nice to have the opportunity to use magnums as a choice too.

The snubbie is still my go to choice for a small firearm. It's alot easier to get ahold of a small revolver than a small autoloader and even if you're grip is suboptimal the thing will keep firing where an autoloader can start to jam. The shape of a snub also lends itself well to comfort and concealment in general. Thankfully everything worked out and they convinced Smith to do a .32 version. I would really like to see a revival of all .32 caliber cartridges and this UC j frame, along with the Beretta 30x are going to do a lot to bring .32 back into the mainstream.

Pretty much in agreement about your assessment for new owners that the Ultimate Carry fits the bill for folks that want "one J-frame to cover it all".
What surprised me is how it took this long for them to implement the UC line considering they had already implemented most of those features on its heftier brother, the 640 Pro. Now I don't have to spend about 30% more money for a heavier J-frame that I'd never take advantage of being able to shoot .357 Magnum out of because .38 +P is plenty enough for me from such a small handgun.

The name is pretty bold but it has about everything you’d want or need. & the Harry of HH. You know your details,so,You know he went with a solid year of nothing but small frame revolvers for a full year recently. You have the best or at the very least one of the best kydex holsters available. You nailed everything about the video, including the value (in 2-3 decades)comment at the beginning of the video. I hace to go now. Late. But I have more to say. The vz grips. I v got a pair on my 66-2. Will be back. Have a nice day. Subscribed today too. L8r

I’ll be doing a vid on it, but it’ll be several weeks out. I got in over my head with product reviews and now I’m playing catch up. Short “trust me bro” answer: 586 L-comp (7 rounds+moon clips) inspect it for QC issues before picking it up, and send it to Nelson Ford for an action job. You’ll have a world-class revolver. Unless you want a micro gun for deep-deep belt concealment or pocket/ankle carry. Then I’d get the UC in .32 👍

The UC J Frame is something that I plan on getting. Mine will be the 432 in 32 H&R Magnum. But just as the new Springfield SA 35 skyrocketed after its initial offering, so has the 432UC J Frame.. On gunbroker, these have an asking price of $1099-$1200, with a Lipseys MSRP of $759. I might give MSRP, but doubtful. I certainly will not give gb prices. So, Smith and Wesson, congrats on continuing to erode your fan base by involving Lipseys in a product with little to no initial supply and a waning of interest, as a result.

Other than the capacity and the next issue I'm going to say. I prefer the look and feel of double action revolvers to striker fire pistols. That being said other than some low capacity 22's I have yet to see any revolvers I'd consider concealable. The closest I've seen that is practical is the Rhino since it balances the recoil, but its still larger then my XDM 10mm, which I dint attempt to conceal carry because of how thick it is.
If we aren't talking a conceal carry gun Id the the best cost to value ratio is a classic Ruger Security six in 357 mag. Of cost isnt a concern then probably an 8 shot Revolver from Ruger or Smith and Wesson.

I still prefer a built to last Colt Detective Special with a hammer shroud as a pocket revolver. Still have that single action ability for more precise shots at longer distances. Not a fan of hammerless DAO revolvers even with the upgraded sights and better grips. Grips can always be changed even if fixed sights cannot. Only offered in a two inch it seems, no three inch. Revolvers are more reliable than autoloaders and simple to operate without the hassles. I know you are in the capacity camp also about a revolver's limited capacity but a lot of folks are out of touch with reality of needing more capacity in a five second gunfight where no one can get through a mag or cylinder let alone have time to reload. Yes there is the above average person living in gangland and high crime area that needs the extra capacity ammo reloads but the average person only has a less than one percent chance of multiple threats and a longer ten or thirty second gunfight and that is why we still carry reloads and don't stake our lives on averages.

Absolutely, because they are forced to move TOWARD the threat. Civilians aren't. Most everyone trying to copy spec ops and COD wanna bee is just justifying their purchases. Not only will you most likely never use your firearm, the chances of you needing 6+ rounds are astronomical when you combine those 2 factors.
