@@CoolGuyGames You say that, but how many Aspects/Fragments are built off terms like "moderate duration" or mods that say "escalating chance" (which in actuality is always on the 7th kill and not random at all) or neglect to inform the player of a cooldown, internal or otherwise? Hell, it was only recently when we got to see recoil direction on a weapon, something that is very *very* important for certain archetypes, especially with regards to whether or not you wanted a barrel/weapon mod that changed this value. Not to mention the relative vagueness of the Impact and Range stats, considering Impact is basically meaningless in the grand scheme (damage is based on RPM instead) and Range changes wildly in effectiveness between archetypes (a damage falloff value in meters would be more useful). Some of these are still hidden even in weapon crafting, like the aforementioned recoil direction. I have to look up every weapon I craft on a third party site just to know if Arrowhead Break or a Stock that modifies recoil direction is worth my time. I shouldn't have to do that. Very well-made video! Personally, I think some more AE mods would be great. If you want to dabble in AE without putting your whole build into it, you can't really do that right now, other than icarus grip and extended mag. You have to commit with the weapon perks, the subclass perks, and the exotic armor.
I have one thing to share that I fear of it’s viability. Trace Rifles have no bloom. 0. If your aimed at someone, it hits. The path fo least resistance has 100 aim assistance BASE. With high AE bonus to ‘precision cone angle’ it is a menace. I’ve spoken my piece
I love your vids, always keen on hearing your analysis, but I gotta admit this one kinda left me even more in the unknown. Bungie said that primaries will feel like they did previously with Icarus, I though they are reverting the AE thing totally for primaries and that I could ingnore that stat on primaries. But after your video this is my understanding: if your weapon already has 12+ AE your are good to go with no investing bc it feels like ~60AE before patch. Am I right? Am I missing something? What AE stat is now a sweetspot for HC? ist it 12? 25? or still something with 50+? I play MnK
yes. 10 AE now is what *60* AE was in the previous system. They pretty much said that from 10-30 AE "they can hit body shots now". Crits on dead on aim. The technical sweetspot is 60. 60 and beyond you get scaling extra benefits. At 60 it starts to change the benefits of the precision cone angle. 10-30 is base. 31-59 is mid tier. 60+ is where it's really at.
@@ArkPel It was. They adjusted the system so that the lower end is no longer as punishing as it used to be and made the higher end better than before. Basically a blanket buff to how primary weapons feel in the air across the board.
@@ArkPel no, 50-60 AE in the prev system was basically the entry level to even land shots on target from the air. That is now *10* AE in the new system
Thank you for this my dude! Like a lot of folks I pretty much gave up on any airborne play that wasn't say Wings of Sacred Dawn, DMT x Lion Ramparts, Heat Rises, etc. I took off Stomp EE5's a long time ago, got hooked on a couple other Exotics so I wasn't quite as annoyed as some! If the AE system wasn't completed & ready to go? This is how it should've been introduced in the first place! Don't ruin what people are used to!! Make it BETTER but only if you actually spec into it!
Great video overall and now I'm wanting to go back to slugging people with wings of sacred dawn. Also as a side note the numbers in the twab are different from what they implemented ingame according to the patch notes that followed the twab with exotic AE values.
It is actually insane that more people don't run hedrons. It give 60 mobility, resilience and recovery. It give 40 AE, stability and aim assist. I don't know the values for stability and aim assist. But you get all of this just for freezing someone. MASSIVE BUFFS! Also if you are a warlock and want to build into this system with very little effort. Heat rises is 70 and astrocyte verse is 30. Instant 100 AE. Yes your exotic does nothing but AE but if you very easy AE. There you go.
If you do want an Exotic that actually has some use you can use Eye of Another World in place of Astrocyte Verse, it only gives half the AE bonus (+15) but has pretty potent passives in its own right. With 70 from Heat Rises and 15 from EoAW you're looking at maxing out the AE stat on damn near everything if you opt to stick Icarus Grip on your weapon of choice. Another potentially meme-tier exotic choice would be Wings of Sacred Dawn which gives a beefy +50 AE when you trigger its exotic perk.
It's still very basic. More ways need to be there. We need the stat to show up at all times. Perks, mods, and other ways to get it. Though better, it's still niche to build in to.
Appreciate you doing a follow up on AE. Superb level of detail. I agree so much about how players should be able to see all this information in the game. I do definitely hope they revert the nerf of stompees though
Any advice on how to use airborne gameplay on titan and non dawnblade warlock? Hunters get the neutral perk from heat rises at all times and of course dawnblades as well do, but it is extremely hard to utilise being in the air outside of than (with exception for lion rampant and DMT). Looking for a way to enjoy the new system on other classes and subclasses and any advice would be appreciated.
I think the intention of AE was to be ankle weights for players good enough to shoot from the air so they wouldn't need to make an sbmm system and is why it was so heavy handed on launch. I think they see that won't work now but also like the aspect it brought to play so they nerf it by like 70% and use it to support things like light sbmm. So its still a supporting branch of the sbmm system but just in a way less invasive way. I doubt strand will get AE bonus or it would have to have abilities worse at killing then the other classes or it would make the ankle weight system invalid. It is interesting that you actually get overloaded on aim assist if you dial into the system. It almost not feels like an ankle weight system because now you get something for it but at the end of the day specing into ae means you get less abilities overall. I do wonder how the long term impact looks if ae was to be a nerf to killing pace and this seems to cancel that nerf by just going all in on ae.
We still need more AE exotics not being able to build into handcannons, sidearms, or shotguns effectively just because your class doesn't have an exotic for them or your universals aren't strong enough sucks
Thank you, should be a nice reference to share around! Also, your recent videos were starting to feel a little too wordy (lacking concision) or like you were trying to fit too much into 10 minutes. This video felt a lot more prepared and well-said.
The only reason I can see is because they wanted another stat to differentiate guns more. Honestly think about it We're gonna start having duplicate weapons with the same energy type and sub-archetype. Unless Bungie sunsets again but we all know that's not happening

@@coinisinorbit nah, not talking about taking out of bounds areas away, just how high you can look up. It doesn't go straight up to 90 degrees, and it would be way better if you could go up and over 180 degrees. I'm on mnk, not controller, so we're working with the same thing.
Doing the lords work 👏
Excellent work
THanks for the deets CoolGuy. Go Chiefs!
BTW Chris proctor has straight up said strand is why AE exsits, it's also why it came out so badly, they wanted to make sure we actually did feel a difference so we would give feedback so strand doesn't come out to hot
Definitely not incompetence..it was a test for sure..
@@bannedmann4469 it's a live service game, that's how it has to be
A live service game has no betas, no test builds, and limited amount of play testing can be done
Live service games are in a constant beta state until they no longer are receiving content
Im a d2 veteran at this point i guess, and i struggle to figure out my ae stat. Couldn't imagine being a new player. Luckily we got CG breaking it down!
Oh boy is it feeling oppressive now. Warlocks floating with high impact pulses at 40m two burstin me feels bad man
Thanks. Great Vid.
I’ll be honest I haven’t felt any urge at all to even jump into crucible for most of this season. But after watching this I’m willing to give it a solid go after work tonight. Reasons like this are why this is one of my favorite channels on RUclips, please keep up the great work my guy!
you absolutely disrespected that shadebinder with malfeasance hahaha
Very well-made video! Personally, I think some more AE mods would be great. If you want to dabble in AE without putting your whole build into it, you can't really do that right now, other than icarus grip and extended mag. You have to commit with the weapon perks, the subclass perks, and the exotic armor.
I have one thing to share that I fear of it’s viability. Trace Rifles have no bloom. 0. If your aimed at someone, it hits. The path fo least resistance has 100 aim assistance BASE. With high AE bonus to ‘precision cone angle’ it is a menace. I’ve spoken my piece
They gave zen moment a buff, I think it might actually be good now
I love your vids, always keen on hearing your analysis, but I gotta admit this one kinda left me even more in the unknown.
@@CoolGuyGames Thanks, but wasn't 60+AE always the sweet spot?
@@ArkPel It was. They adjusted the system so that the lower end is no longer as punishing as it used to be and made the higher end better than before. Basically a blanket buff to how primary weapons feel in the air across the board.
@@ArkPel no, 50-60 AE in the prev system was basically the entry level to even land shots on target from the air. That is now *10* AE in the new system
@@CoolGuyGames ahhhh thx alot, sounds good :)
It upsets me greatly that Knucklehead Radar wasn't given any AE bonus to it.
Have you tried out an adaptive smg since the buffs? The forensic nightmare also feels damn solid with the one extra zoom
@@S3Cs4uN8 nice. Yes it is very easy on warlock to have stupid high AE with really little investment. Does ophidian Aspects give AE bonuses?
@@gamerprodigy107 Ophidian Aspect gives +10, nothing to get particularly excited about.
Hey CoolGuy what shader are you rocking on your EXALTED TRUTH!?!?
I genuinely thought the footage was from a year ago lol
You mention "it still has a ways to go." What are your criticisms of the system? It seems pretty great. Is it just in the display of information?
It's still very basic. More ways need to be there. We need the stat to show up at all times. Perks, mods, and other ways to get it. Though better, it's still niche to build in to.
@@CoolGuyGames Got it - totally fair. I imagine (hope) we'll get it with Strand.
Thank you
Don’t you play controller? How did you do the power slide?
Appreciate you doing a follow up on AE. Superb level of detail. I agree so much about how players should be able to see all this information in the game. I do definitely hope they revert the nerf of stompees though
Thanks
Thats quite a new video
Bungie really, really needs to consider putting actual real numbers in the game.
Lumina is where it’s at right now you guys it is insane. Give it a try.
I gotta tell ya it's so refreshing seeing airborne gameplay again, pretty excited to try this out
I think the intention of AE was to be ankle weights for players good enough to shoot from the air so they wouldn't need to make an sbmm system and is why it was so heavy handed on launch.
Been waiting for this video. Awesome job thanks so much 🙏 👏
Great Vid, I was going to try out AE builds now that it's improved. This info is greatly welcomed!
We still need more AE exotics not being able to build into handcannons, sidearms, or shotguns effectively just because your class doesn't have an exotic for them or your universals aren't strong enough sucks
been waiting all day for this! thank you!!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I couldn't figure out why I could only see it in my screen sometimes!
was pre ae icarus on snipers better?
These changes are for strand.
I feel like people are forgetting that.
Thank you, should be a nice reference to share around! Also, your recent videos were starting to feel a little too wordy (lacking concision) or like you were trying to fit too much into 10 minutes. This video felt a lot more prepared and well-said.
I wonder is pulses or scouts will ever be good from the air, if built into correctly
So glad they kept the stompees nerf just so the anime pfps cry
2023 and people still crying over stompees 😪
If every update has to been to bring us closer to pre-AE, what was the point of this whole system?
The only reason I can see is because they wanted another stat to differentiate guns more. Honestly think about it
We're gonna start having duplicate weapons with the same energy type and sub-archetype. Unless Bungie sunsets again but we all know that's not happening
So its better now. Cool.
