The final, normal* mission of the massive campaign mode of Dariusburst: Chronicle Saviours. Here I pilot the Legend ship, with all preset defaults, to zone Suriaha take on the game's most fearsome guardian, the legendary Gigantic Bite! A battle to the death ensues, and who will come out on top?
    Boss timestamps:
    1:09 - Hyper Jaw
    3:46 - Lightning Flamberge
    6:44 - Phantom Castle
    10:06 - Golden Ruler
    16:31 - Azure Nightmare
    23:09 - Gigantic Bite
    30:21 - Ending
This video is an improvement over my previous attempt, made a night later! This run contains far more improvements in both survival, boss strategies, burst countering, and wave bonuses. A not-insignificant 25-million upgrade over my previous attempt! I feel almost silly uploading two similar runs at once, but you never know when you are getting 'the run.' I was so close to a no-death run, which would have really put me up in the leaderboard. Towards the end I was searching for xaerock's place to see if I was close... I wasn't! But one day, ho ho...
Like last time, a lot of this level is trying to conserve shields to survive Gigantic Bite. To contrast with my other upload, THIS is the fewest shields I've made it to Gigantic Bite and survived! =)
However, I was able to be much more proficient in clearing enemy waves and getting burst bonuses... sometimes the timing works in your favor. If I can improve, it's definitely in the middle zones where the swarms of enemies pepper you from top and bottom. You can see I have a really hard time getting a strategy down for them.

Ten years ago today, the first of the Dariusburst series was released on the PSP. From there, the game enjoyed many tweaks, re-releases, and remakes. The base game was adjusted into the excellent Another Chronicles EX arcade release, and this served as the basis for the PC/PS4 release of Chronicle Saviours in 2015, which contained new bosses and the CS campaign mode. It's fitting for me, on this momentous anniversary, to share with you a run of the game's final challenge. I've been waiting to find and fight Gigantic Bite ever since the PC release, so this is a rather cathartic moment given the anniversary. This game is truly great and a feast for shmup fans and Darius lovers. This one is worth playing!
There is a practice zone, Bedon, that lets you mano-e-mano Bite with 30 shields and full power - use this to learn his patterns. However, he has less HP in Bedon, so much that you will not meet those dreaded time-out cubes (as I do towards the end), which have ended several attempts by ramming into me and taking my remaining lives.
*Note: there is a secret, hidden 'bonus' mission, code-named Kyukkuho, that is unlocked only after completing every campaign map in CS mode. This is a bit of a hassle, to say the least, so I don't expect to have that one done any time soon.

Wonder if we'll ever get a sequel for that "tale for another time."

I'm not sure. This is meant to be the grand finale of the Darius franchise. We're in the endgame now.

So,how about the timeline in this game?Sometimes,it's forward.Sometimes,it's backward in next level.
And the final timeline problem is Suriaha-Kyokkuho.In Suriaha, the year is 1921,but it's 1920 in Kyokkuho. But,the Kyokkuho is the final level of all.How to understand that?Maybe,I don't understand each story in all "shoot'em up" games. All games with that genre are lack/shallow in story side.🥴

I think it's because Kyokkuho takes place before Suriaha... The ending for Kyokkuho says the Belsar are still out there. But in this ending, it feels like it's the end of it all.

      @@SolCresta3405 Maybe.
But,there's a sentence in Suriaha ending : "But,that is a tale for another time".According to me,it means that there are some dangerous things remaining, that means they are in Final Zone 2 : Kyokkuho. And the stages are too long to pass.

@@p3d_evanfredricosagala236 That’s true. But considering Suriaha had a more definitive “finale” feel, that’s why I prefer Suriaha over Kyokkuho.

I feel the opposite opinion.Kyokkuho is better as the final one.The longest zones in a level with the wildest bosses : Savage Ruler,Gigantic Bite,& GTV.Hard to finish without dying, even when I use Murakumo (zero setting) or Wild Snail.😅
