So, in order of (subjectively) worst to best endings... Beat "Curious Chandelier" - The darkest ending. You beat all the enemies, but this causes the planet to explode (for some reason) and now you and the rest of your friends have no idea wtf to do. WHOOPS. Beat "Hysteric Empress" - You defeated all the enemies... EXCEPT THESE NEW GUYS!? (SEQUEL TEASE?) Beat "Risk Storage" - You die at the bottom of the sea due to the pressure after the battle compromises your hull's integrity, but at least you killed the last of the badguys so, noble sacrifice ending. Beat "Odious Trident" - You defeated the enemies and the Ewoks are very pleased that you saved their pitiful forest homes from the giant angry fish robots. Beat "Storm Causer" - Seems to be the best ending. Storm Causer was... causing storm. Now that it's gone the storm no longer interferes with communications beyond the planet and other "companies" can come to assist the planet. Happiest End. ... but then you have these two fucking oddballs... Beat "Great Thing" - It was all an illusion!? Beat "Vermillion Coronatus" - IT WAS ALL JUST A VIDEO GAME!?!?!?

In case you wonder why some letters are missing: Some zones have the same boss (e.g. Zone D and F both have Folding Fan as its boss). Both versions however have unique attacks and patterns, so they are not necessarily the exact same boss.

My personal favorite of the Darius series. Still have it for the Saturn. Gameplay, boss design, and the music all get high marks from me. Incredible performance on the course final bosses dude!! The control and precision of a surgeon you have!
Man I remember this being in a computer emulator when I was just a kid. Seeing you play It definitely reminded me of my younger days of being a monster on playing these games. Thanks for the flashback! I wonder if Taito will be making another Darius game though... These games sure bring up the sense of andrenaline to you, trying to dodge that vital attack. Why does the audio emulate so bad in more recent versions of MAME? It used to be able to emulate the sound no problem, but now I get a popping/crackling effect

Oh my fucking god, your playing the default version which actually requires learning boss patterns. Instant thumbs up. BTW aparently the arcade ROM is bugged. If you go trough zone C the adaptative difficulty goes to max instantly.
If I would determine the hardest boss, it would be between Hysteric Empress and Storm Causer. Hysteric Empress is just akward AF to fight, and if you don't know the patterns perfectly, you'll get chain hit so easily. Storm causer is just fucking unfair for the unprepared, most notoriously because of the attack at 51:48. I think I'll give it to hysteric empress because it gets moronicly hectic at the end. The other final bosses are not so bad, Great Thing ironically being the easiest one, despite being notoriously hard in other Darius games.

Gotta admire that artistically interesting direction G-Darius was my favorite, I only played the demo, but when you beat the fishies they would join you in combat, if you did well enough you would have a whole school of fish of different shapes and sizes joining you (even bosses) , that was way cool

DJFlare84 Curious Chandelier seemed extremely close to the planet’s Core - perhaps it exploding destabilized it and as such caused it to explode.
Great Thing wasn't an illusion--its destruction simply retconned the Belser out of existence, basically.

In Japanese culture English is used just for the style. Whether it's accurate or not doesn't make much difference to them.

I get the feeling with Dariusburst Chronicle Saviours, it was the swan song for the series. I wouldn't mind being wrong about that, though.

I played this game so hard when i was a kid... yeah, i ended up in the hospital for motion sickness. Still, love this game.

This version of Great Thing is terrifying... It wants you dead and is using its vast arsenal of weapons to do that.
My favorite part about shmups like Gradius is taking off the extra parts before getting the main body.
