Glad you like it. Their sound are heavy with 7 strings guitars and 5 string bass and the vocals, she's just using half of her full ability here. This song shows their diversity in music style and this track composed by their bassist Haraguchi-san, lyrics by guitarist Hazuki.
They done lots of covers and all of them are spot on. I like them covering the classic heavy metals like Iron Maiden, Helloween, KISS and the likes. They are quite well known individually in Japan. Saki the guitarist also involve with Kreator bassist for the AMAHIRU project which also consist of Fear Factory drummer and Epica keyboardist to name a few. As promise, here are their full bio/background stories:
NEMOPHILA is a Tokyo-based Japanese metal band formed in August 2019, was introduced as "Super Metal Band" on their official debut in September 2019 at the METAL WEEKEND 2019, Zepp Diver City, Tokyo, where the band opened up for heavy metal legends, LOUDNESS and HAMMERFALL. No one could argue with the title "Super Metal Band" as all the band members are no strangers to Japanese rock/metal scene with several decades of experience between them; and individually regarded as a reputable seasoned musician.
NEMOPHILA started out as session band and supposed to be a one-off session as the "Mayu Session Band", assembled by Mayu (ex-LIPSTICK vocalist) who approached her good friend, Haraguchi-san (ex-HöLDERLINS bassist). They later made contact with Tamu Murata (ex-Soramimi drummer). Mayu can't play guitar well so they were introduced to Saki (Mary's Blood & AMAHIRU guitarist, ex-Destrose), who later introduced Hazuki (Li-sa-X band guitarist, Disqualia - this band isn't officially disbanded but put on hold) to the rest of the band, completing the superb veteran quintet.
Their sound is heavy since Saki & Hazuki are using 7 strings guitars. Haraguchi-san is using 5 strings bass. Tamu Murata still using double pedals ...with most adorable smile but don't be fooled by that as she is one fierce drummer. Mayu might have another set of lungs to accommodate her banshee-like 'thunder throat'.
Despite being relatively new formed group, their fan base is growing rapidly at both local and international level. Their RUclips channel NEMOPHILA hits 100k subscribers before even releasing a full-length debut album.
Their heavy songs are HEAVY as hell. NEMOPHILA approach is "jigoku no yurufawa" which means "hell fluffy cute" or could be interpreted as play heavy as hell while being true to your own nature -fluffy cute as them being ladies. They are the most highly anticipated band in Japan right now and yet their attitude towards their surroundings is humbly appreciative and down to earth still.
NEMOPHILA music video that hits 1 million views is their third single titled "Dissension", released on February 2021, is heavy and featuring Mayu's banshee-like screaming and clear vocals capabilities. Here is the link ruclips.net/video/26aMuahxz8c/видео.html
Their single "REVIVE" (which also the name of their first full-length album) is very intense and heavy with special video series release after full video that features individual solo performance for each one of them every week. Watch the full video here ruclips.net/video/zmRmVc4u18w/видео.html
Their first single "OIRAN" released on February 2020 and then performed at live streaming event "SHOW-YA produced NAON no YAON 2021" as their opening song. In this event, the trio of "Super Metal Band" NEMOPHILA members are on multiple act with Tamu Murata on double duty, filling in as a drummer for Gacharic Spin while SAKI and Hazuki are on triple acts with their other band Mary's Blood and Li-sa-X Band respectively; and both featured for Guitar Girls Collection special performance. Mayu also appeared again for Vocalist collaboration show with other singers for legendary Japanese songs medley.
"RAITEI" (means Thunder) is their second single and was released on August 2020, the same day that Tamu Murata returned to live activities after giving birth in May 2020. This song was performed on live streaming here ruclips.net/video/WSJ2imYD738/видео.html ...and you could also hear Tamu Murata harmonizing with Mayu in the chorus. The fun part: SAKI was defeated in intermission games and had to wear the glasses as 'Batsu-game'. So watch out for other members trying hard not to laugh... but as usual, Haraguchi-san and Tamu Murata were the first to laugh as both of them known as the 'laughing thunder' who seem to always crack up during performance by just making eye contact between them. Mayu laugh the hardest during her break as SAKI was mocking her. Only Hazuki scored slightly above average marks for not laughing and she was smart by not looking at SAKI's direction entirely 😅.
This track "HYPNOSIS" was released on November 2021 and this song is unique with Arabian vibes but still heavy. It was a very surprise arrangement with the drum solo but special since both Haraguchi-san and Tamu Murata are known for their easy going and cheerful, laughing most of the time in the background enjoying themselves are taking the stage. Although I wish the solo was longer but she went hard so not complaining at all. 🤘🏻
When Tamu Murata goes, she goes real hard. I suggest you to listen to OIRAN live version here ruclips.net/video/19VQ9tkWksQ/видео.html (fasten your seatbelt first if you have one 😅) and then see how brutal she could blast that song even harder, its on her youtube channel and was performed in collaboration with her guest drummer, Madoka of Drum TV. They played OIRAN together and during the first section of guitar solo, while Madoka smashing the original beat, Tamu Murata went full throttle, harmonizing with Hazuki's solo. Check it out here ruclips.net/video/pymgjoxcmnk/видео.html
The bond between them also grow every day like sisters and was particularly shown by the song "Life" in this live streaming performance here ruclips.net/video/HFnEYhbEAqg/видео.html ...this is their final song for the show and in this performance, all the band members are facing their drummer, Tamu Murata, to show appreciation and thank you for coming back to them after taking a long break giving birth to a beautiful child during May 2020 as mentioned earlier. During the performance, Tamu had no idea why they were all facing her (instead of 'forward' to the virtual audience like the rest of the performance) and Mayu was purposely focused her attention towards her as directly singing to her. Tamu was later (at the end of the concert) been informed by the rest of the band members what actually happened and during the explaining, they all cried before Tamu herself did. Although during the performance, you could noticed Tamu did 'feel' the emotions (towards the end of the song) sent by Mayu as their bond grown stronger together like sisters who could sense the love between each other without actually saying it. This is Tamu's first performance (minus rehearsals for this concert, which definitely needed after long break) with the rest of the band after giving birth. Tamu Murata really is the special one, a woman, a drummer, a wife and a mother, adorable but fierce. This song pretty much 'endorsed' the whole vibes of what this band is all about as stared in the first line of the chorus which translated to "My life has begun take off now" ...and it seems that their life journey begin to take shape in front of them since NEMOPHILA was formed. Tamu Murata got married and have a daughter shortly after and 15 November 2021 live stream they announced the expansion of NEMOPHILA family members with Murata Tamu gave birth to her second daughter and Mayu is married. Things are getting better for them and hopefully it will continue to bring happiness to all of them and of course their fans.
They will release their first album Revive on December 2021 by British record label JPU Records.

Nemophila is 🔥🔥🔥. Everything they do is magic. Both the Arabian sound and drum solo are unique to Hypnosis among their songs but I love it. They play a variety of styles and excel at all of them. Their diverse set of covers are great and their originals are even better.
    Suggestions to check out next:
If you want really heavy with harsh vocals try Dissension.
If you want a large dose of sonic adrenaline with some crazy solos try Revive.
If you want an emotional rock ballad dedicated to the drummer returning from maternity leave try Life.
Their best covers are both of their Maximum the Hormone covers.

Nemophila is a band formed in 2019, but actually each of their members is from a different band, and they are a very unique band, each song has different elements, Two guitarists: Saki(from Mary’s Blood) and hazuki(from lisa-X band) are very well knows female guitarists in Japan, drummer murata tamu has collaborated with many singers and bands, and she also a solo drummer , the singer mayu(ex-Lipstick) with a highly recognizable scream and beautiful voice. haraguchi(ex-Hölderlins) is the happiest bassist I have ever seen😜
    Maybe check out《dissension》mv or《oiran》live 2021 next?🌸🤘🏻

I would generally characterize Nemophila as an eclectic metal band with a fairly strong emphasis on progressive metal and a good dose of old school 80s-90s hard rock in there too. The Indian-Middle Eastern feel of this one is kind of a one-off for them, at least so far. Along with their music video releases they do a steady stream of live and less formal covers over their RUclips channel. (Which is a great idea for generating fan awareness of the band)

They seamlessly hover between different kind of subgenres of rock music but the heavy middle eastern vibes were even a bit surprising to the fans

Amazing band! would love to see you react to more from them. Maybe the live version of "Oiran" from Naon no Yaon festival this years?
As we're in Japanese metal already, please also check out Sokoninaru, Doll$boxx (I recommend the music videos for "Take my Chance" and "Shout down"), Gacharic Spin (recommend "I wish I" and "Mindset"), MergingMoon "Greyen". Lets leave it at that for now but there is much more ;)

Thanks for this Bo Jangles. Great to hear this. Lots more Nemophila to react to. Don't know if you've done it yet but for subtle Middle Eastern vibe try Sahara by Nightwish at Tampa 2016. A funky all female Japanese band is Gacharic Spin with Mindset. Or other great bands such as Sokoninaru playing Gou Ni Moyu or Asterism playing anything. Lol.

This song is a bit of an oddity. It's an example of them stretching their wings. It is not representative of their sound. If you listen to Fighter and Dissension, most of their music would be bracketed between

For a Japanese rock band that uses a Indian-Middle Eastern feel, try out a band named Glim Spanky. The recent song "Circle of Time" is a good place to start. ruclips.net/video/ogEa9Z3V1lE/видео.html
They aren't a metal band. More of a throw-back rock band centered around late 60's - early 70s American west coast sound. Combine that with a good dose of contemporary Japanese alt rock, some 60s, 70 American folk rock, some Zepplin here and there, some 90s West coast American alt rock, and some contemporary Japanese folk rock.
These folks have a decent catalog. How they haven't caught on yet, is beyond me.
If you want to give an old hippy a serious flashback, play them the cover "Move Over" on the Universal Music Japan channel. That one has 1.3 M views. Haven't heard anyone that sounds like that in a while.
