@speedods Yeah, but for many people looking into a new build (like myself) from old hardware such as 775 or low end AMD, the 1156, paired with a 2600K is equivelent to a i7-970 and with the money saved, watercooling can be purchased and high clocks past 5GHz can be attained.
@kungfufreak360 It's Intel-related design error on every Sandy-Bridge mobos (it's not i5 motherboards, the "i5" stands for the processor name like core i3, i5 or i7), which could lead to SATA2-errors in the future. This was corrected on all Sandy Bridge mobos (so also on the Asus, MSI, these Gigabyte ones and others...) and these days/weeks there should be the new revised ones in the shops. You can check it by the big "REV. B3" logo on boxes or by special software of each of their vendors.
I'm pretty sure all motherboards charge while off, I think on/off change allows more amps through USB than the standard so you can charge batteries faster.
@ArtOfKillingTY It seems to contain enough pins for 8x but in reality it doesn't deliver more than 4x bandwidth. You can see the PCIEX4 label at the bottom left of the slot and it is also specified in the specs. : 1 x PCI Express x16 1 x PCI Express x4 2 x PCI Express x1 3 x PCI
@Intel1502 i did upgrade from a 775 core 2 quad and im not much of an overclocker, my i7 sits nice @ 3.6 on stock volts and im happy with my H50 :) doubt ill upgrade for a while as for gaming my computer is perfect.
I love this board. I have this board for my flight simulator machine and I've been using it hard for some time and runs like a dream. I personally hate Asus, because every single one I had always had some glitch.
So you keep saying bad thing will happen, so can and LGA 1156 even FIT in an LGA 1155?? Or will you just bend the pins and what not if you try to make it fit?
@DarknessKingCoH there on the x58 "for rich ppl only " motherboards, the new lga 2011 chipset will be the next gereation to 1366 and will have quad channel ddr3, for the rich anyways
looks like Gigabyte cheaped out on the heatpipe for that VRM sink... the holes are all there for a heatpipe. quite a dealbreaker if i actualy wanted to buy this board.
Dont see the point in doing a review of the 1155 motherboards as u cant buy any of those motherboards atm (atleast where I live) and it will take a while untill u can get a 1155 motherboard so who knows if they will change other stuff with the motherboards while they switch the chipset. Good review but i would release it when you can buy 1155 motherboards again.
Linus you are my only hope right now, What motherboard you recommend me than its AM3 and has 2 PCIEx X16??? and i meen than the 2 PciEx run at x16 with a crossfire not x8 each please dude you are my only hope
built my brother a budget rig with this board and a i32100 he wants to add a dedicated gpu there is no bios setting to disable the onboard graphics of the 2100 is there anything special that needs to be done before installing the new gpu thanks
Why bother un-boxing a defective product Linus? Don't get me wrong, I love your channel and quirkiness! But to un-box a defective MB just to post a vid? I don't understand your logic......
9 years ago. Ahh, so cute :)
I am buying this after 8 years....
imagine 9 years later i'm looking up LGA 1155 motherboards for my I5 2400 and find this

The board is still much powerful for my need 😃
@SithNai Crosshair IV Forumla, its AM3, dual x16 crossfire and has USB 3.0 & SATA 6G, its the best AMD board right now
Young linus

I heard there has been recalls for core i5 motherboards. is it safe to purchase this processor/mobo ?
um linus... the metal contact pins go farther then where your finger is pointed at
finally new videos
So you keep saying bad thing will happen, so can and LGA 1156 even FIT in an LGA 1155?? Or will you just bend the pins and what not if you try to make it fit?
@Intel1502 my 1156 does me fine for my gaming needs. im running everything maxxed.
Who is here in 2020???
😎😎
@DarknessKingCoH there on the x58 "for rich ppl only " motherboards, the new lga 2011 chipset will be the next gereation to 1366 and will have quad channel ddr3, for the rich anyways
@dethtilldeath no wonder, its kinda fallen out of the spotlight, you'd think intel would be working on better cpus for the 1366 socket
Linus, why is R2-D2 always showing up in your videos?!?!?!
Every display connector under the Sun!
i got the i7 950 for 199, i think its better than getting this, not saying 1366 is better, i saw the deal and i grabbed it
the connector on the back is it Esata/usb or just Esata
hey linus when are you going to rick roll us?
Pause the video, press 7, play the video, keep pressing 7. LinusDjTips FTW?

why no 1080p?
I got one of these here in 2020. Oooooooooooffffff....
and i am still deciding whether to upgrade to it or stay with an i3 550
I heard there has been lots of recalls for sandybridge stuff, is it same to purchase a core i5 2500 with this motherboard?
Linus, you're probably right, but i think its wired in 8x, just me though...
Compatible with i5 7th generation?
No this is second generation sandy bridge with 1155 socket (very old 8-9 years old) you need motherboard with 1151 socket 7th gen
what happened to the triple channel ddr3 mobos?
Linus you are my only hope right now, What motherboard you recommend me than its AM3 and has 2 PCIEx X16??? and i meen than the 2 PciEx run at x16 with a crossfire not x8 each please dude you are my only hope
@speedods same, sandybridge FAILED so badly, AMD and older Intel proccesors for the win
built my brother a budget rig with this board and a i32100 he wants to add a dedicated gpu there is no bios setting to disable the onboard graphics of the 2100 is there anything special that needs to be done before installing the new gpu thanks
Haha "If you try n' put an 1156 in this socket.. BAD. things. will. happen!"
