In their very first interaction, Momo bit Genki multiple times to display his dominance. Eventually Genki bent down, chomped hard on his leg, and deescalated everything within seconds. She has always been Momotaro's rock.
Favourite family. Genki is the glue that holds this family together. Appreciate a fabulously strong female. If she was a silverback she'd be kicking ass 😂
I love that Genki can vocalize to Momotaro to calm him. I have heard that from another source and you are the second GL to say this. Yes. Genki is a grounded calm gorilla. She has many experiences in life and overcame alot. People use to say Genki does not care about Momotaro but they are not overtly affectionate like other Gorilla Troops. They have been together a long time and we dont see everthing. It is the small subtle things that matter. I know humans are different. I work with alot of young couples. The couples that get along best from my observation do small gestures. It is in their actions that show their consideration and care. Lovely to watch this family, Of course my favorite is mama Genki.

I am always impressed by how they hang upside down and retrieve their food. Especially the huge Momotaro and Genki with a partial finger missing! They are all majestic and beautiful! I pray everyone will be safe with the incoming Tsunami!❤️

I’ve always thought that all 3 boys loved Genki but she only cared about her sons. I’m happy to hear that she shows concern for Momotaro. Besides Tayari, most mates aren’t very close so it’s hard to tell.
GL !!!! how are ya bud?....................I wished there was a way they can install microphones in the gorilla house so we can hear them in some way,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but to be a fly on the wall to hear Momotaro and Genki communicate. and seeing Genki hanging from the ceiling was funny cuz I have never seen her do that before.
Pairing Momotaro with Genki, who has had more life experiences, was a smart match. Having a family has helped Momotaro grow and learn. Love how they have their own unique personalities.

With the wound on Momotaro’s head, did he and Gentaro have another scuffle? With Gentaro now having his canines, and by scientific definition is a Silverback, things could get very bad very fast. I’m not saying Momotaro and Gentaro hate each other, it’s just that there are naturally not 2 Silverbacks so close in a troop. Momotaro will show his dominance and Gentaro will refute it more and more as they both age. Gentaro needs his own troop with an older lady. I don’t feel keeping him from his parents at such a young critical age for 10 longs months (besides little interactions with Genki) was to his favor. It’s likely very hard for those 2 big fellas being in an unnatural environment (for the safety from extinction) but having those natural instincts. Bless them both and this whole family 🙏🏻❤️ They are doing great and are very well cared for! 😊❤️

That wound under Momotaro’s chin looks much better than four or five days ago, when it had a round object in it - about the size of a small marble. Now, it’s just a wound. As for the top of his head, he does that himself; many times in videos he can be seen scratching up there. Probably due to Gentaro’s obnoxiousness…!!

They can't be watched every second when their outside, can only be watch one gorilla at a time and maybe he got a scratch on his head from Gentaro or a branch or scratching, but things happen, nobody's fault.

Why be CARELESS to allow the Gorillas to sustain Injury after Injury with NEVER a clear explanation as to HOW the injury came about or WHAT methods will be used to TREAT said injury. It's good that Genki is a calming influence in this little family of mostly males. Poor Genki has no other female gorillas to bond with.
She actually didn't like living with other females. so she is very happy with her boys
