This guy is a fabulous composer, and forgive my ignorance, his chosen instrument I had no idea was ever used in symphonic composition - but as the featured instrument? Wow.
What drew me here was the soundtrack to the film 12 Monkeys. Paul Buckmaster developed it. He famously did the orchestration behind Elton John's Madman Across the Water, including Tiny Dancer. In the movie (12 Monkeys) there's this catchy, somewhat ominous phrase appearing and disappearing just making the mood of that fabulous work. SO, armed with Google I did some detective work and found Buckmaster based that soundtrack off Astor Piazzolla's Suite Punta del Este. AND...I found this, among the other works of his here on RUclips. Thanks, sas147741 for posting this, and to all you other Piazzolla fans making his work available to us who are slow to arrive upon this master contributor to our culture, enrichening it even further. So, from the top: I first discocered the opening melody from Civvie 11's Serious Sam video. I was immediately drawn in, and frequently just went back to the start, just to hear it again. (I still hear the distant screaming of kamikazes.)
Later, I discovered the song was from a movie I never heard of: Twelve Monkeys. I looked it up, and was delighted to hear more. But I was a little thrown off by the horror stings in it (which im sure suit the movie fine). But then I longed for one that was more of this elegant melody.
Imagine my surprise, once I discovered this video in a comment.

Is this the original inspiration for the libertango in 12 monkeys? An incredible piece of music, so South American, it's fantastic!
Yes. 12 Monkeys' composer Paul Buckmaster took the introduction and used it as a base to work on. It's like Behind the Mask by Yellow Magic Orcestra. They wrote it, then Michael Jackson and Eric Clapton added / adapted it.

its supposed to be the very beginning. but in the simpsons they used a much better recording copy of the song, probably upolader's fault for not encoding or using same as sample rates.
shl This is the only recording made by Astor Piazzolla, the composer, it was recorded in Venezuela in the 80's and it is in the only quality avaliable. I did not uploaded it to make little Simpsons fans or silly 12 Monkeys fan girls happy, I wasn't even aware the first movement was so popular at the time I made it. Probably I wouldn't have uploaded the piece if i was.
