Ah here it is, the first total war video I watched, the first lionheart video I watched, here I am 6 years later waiting on immortal empires to drop. A lot has changed since watching this video, I'm now a dad, I got my degree in computer science, I've lost family members, but one thing hasn't changed. My love for this game series, the amount of hours I put into it and all because I youtubed "total war warhammer lets play" nearly two years ago and found this man and this video. Lots of love
Lionheart fought 8 battles where as he has autoresolved 4 and played 4. He won 6 battles and lost 2. He killed 10389 enemies and lost 4191 Undead. His longest winning streak was 4 battles. (Ep. 1) His longest losing streak was 2 battles. (Ep.1) His crypt ghouls killed the most enemies in one battle with 181 kills. (Ep.1)

please notice the little raise dead battle sites popping up all over eschen, if you raise dead near those locations, you can get things like grave guard (with great weapons), vargheights, black knights and more, all for a small fee, no buildings required. There is one literally right next to the city of eschen, they have the little raise dead icon....please

Vampire Counts Infodump: The origins of Vampires originate from the Original Necromancer, Nagash the Black. Upon Nagash's defeat and retreat into exile, Princess Neferata of Lahmia saved some of Nagash's writings and studied them greatly. She eventually distilled an Elixir of Life and, along with High Priest W'soran, became the first of the Vampires upon drinking it. There are five major Houses of the Vampire Counts: House Von Carstein: The current ruling House, founded by Vlad Von Carstein. Most Vampires are either Von Carsteins or have pledged allegiance to them. Charismatic, arrogant, ambitious and wholly convinced of their House's exclusive right to rule. The Von Carsteins are the only known House who hold land populated by human subjects. The Count of each holding demands a Blood Tax as the only form of tax, which is implemented differently by each Count. They are every much undead nobility. It's current leader is Mannfred, by far the most cunning and magically adept of the bloodline. His end goal is only power; power and security from those who would take it from him. And he will take it by any means necessary. House Lahmia: Founded by Neferata, members of this bloodline function as eyes and ears to Neferata out in the world. They gather information and weave a web on intrigue with the aim of one day reclaiming the Land of the Dead in the south for her own. As a general rule, Lahmians are generally extremely beautiful women and exquisite swordsmasters. Many become assassins, spies and political masterminds. Neferata herself spends most of her time holed up in the World's edge Mountains where she holds a court of undead, the enthralled and her cats. Her home is built in the style of ancient Lahmia, from what she was able to salvage before it fell. House Necrarch: Founded by W'soran. The Necrach's are by far the most magically gifted of all the Houses; the hordes of undead they are capable of summoning can only be described as immense. Unlike Von Carsteins or Lahmias, they avoid Humans and can survive without blood for several years. They do, however, appear more monstrous. Not so much as the Strigoi, but enough that they cannot hide in plain sight. They usually inhabit ruins and abandoned buildings. W'soran was believed killed by his finest apprentice, Melkhior, in a bid for power. The truth is far more sinister - W'soran possessed Melkhior and devoured his old body. Over the years, he has continued to train other Vampires in necromantic arts, being responsible for teaching Mannfred Von Carstein. Again one of his pupils, Zacharias, appeared to murder and devour him; and again W'soran in actuality took Zacharias's body for his own. Now known as Zacharias the Everliving, all know better than to challenge him. House Blood Dragon: The greatest of all vampire warriors. The Order of the Blood Dragon was originally an Imperial knightly order, holding Blood Keep on the Bretonnian border. Then one night, they were corrupted by a follower of Abhorash, former protector to queen Neferata of the long-destroyed Lahmia. This follower bested every knight in single combat, sparing those who fought with honour. The Empire eventually sent a Witch Hunter and a massive army to storm the keep and destroy the fallen order. The Blood Dragons scattered but endured. Now however, rumours abound that the keep is once more occupied... The Blood Dragons are some of the finest warriors in the Warhammer world, all seeking to prove themselves worthy to Abhorash; that he might deign to share his knowledge to them. Long ago, Abhorash fought a dragon to the death at the peak of one of the World's Edge Mountains and drained it's blood upon slaying it; from then on, his hunger ceased. He waits on that very mountain peak for those of his followers who prove themselves worthy enough to be granted his blood and martial knowledge. House Strigoi: Founded by the long-dead Ushoran, the Strigoi Ghoul Kings once held a mighty domain. Now however, all that is gone. Outwitted by Neferata and their realm toppled by Greenskins, they are in hiding. Forced to dwell in the darkest, deepest hidden places many of the Strigoi have turned feral. Over time they have morphed into hunchbacked, grotesque monstrosities with limited impulse control and a taste for savagery. This causes ghouls to gravitate to them and often form grotesque courts. From their catacombs and graveyards, they spy on the other vampires and plot for their return to glory. Occasionally, a Strigoi becomes powerful enough and lucid enough to raise a large army to either overthrow their rival Houses or journey to the ruins of their old kingdom in an effort to retake it. Such efforts have always been thwarted by either masterful counterplotting from the other houses, the inexorable horde of Greenskins or even occasionally the disciplined, skeleton armies of the Tomb Kings in vengeance for the destruction of their lands. Necromancers frequently work with vampires - being pariahs in most other circles. Best known of these are Nagash the Black, inventor of necromancy itself, and Heinrich Kemmler, The Lichemaster. Both have displayed an absolute willingness to commit any atrocity to obtain mastery over death. Most Vampire Count troops are rather un-diverse: skeletons, zombies, ghouls, repeat. It is their special and rare units that are truly exceptional: The Varghulf - A vampire who has given in to his or her most primal and basic instincts and become little more than a savage beast. There is very little of the individual that once was remaining. The Vargheist - Those who lose in the game of vampire politics face unpleasant fates. The Von Carsteins over the centuries have developed some especially unpleasant torments for their beaten opponents. One such fate is to be locked inside one's own coffin - being left to become a prisoner of one's own starvation. This drives them insane and warps them into a beast similar in many ways to a Varghulf, yet distinctly separate. They posses enough self awareness to be a aware of their living hell. Terrorgheist - An undead vampire bat the size of a dragon, usually ridden by Strigoi vampires. they bind to their masters and are inseparably loyal. The Zombie Dragon - It's a dragon that's been raised by necromancy; do I need to say more? Banshees - spirits of revenge and retribution with a deadly shriek. Wraiths - The most dangerous of all undead. The vengeful spirits of long dead necromancers clinging on desperately to life. Spirit Hosts - The souls of the damned stripped of all body and identity; they scream endlessly. Crypt Horrors - Best described as a ghoul equivalent to a troll.
Amazing~ Keep pushing these videos out as you can! Infantry: Undead Avengers(Crypt Ghouls, once you can upgrade, change the name to a Crypt Horror unit) Men of Dunharrow(Cairn Wraiths) Death's Reapers(Cairn Wraiths) Cavalry: Vargheists' Shields (Fell Bats) Death's Legion(Hexwraiths) Monsters: Dalcass(Banshee) Noble Fell Bats(Vargheists)
I think, personally Lionheart you are probably one of the few who actually knows how to use this magic system :o in Total War Warhammer. Awesome gameplay :). & that, your actually playing VC in the right strategic way! Where even though the Vampires are strong, their not melee fighters but intended to be in the back casting spells & DEATH a pond their enemies.
quite few unit names for you. the monstrous regiment (crypt ghouls, crypt nightmares etc), the wildling wights ( any skeleton unit), the wight walkers/white walkers ( can use for a skeleton unit but maybe worth saving for the wraiths or banshees), wun wun ( the varghul ). the dark knights of uberwald/ uberwald guard (graveguard or dark knights), reg shoes regiment ( zombies only) , von humpendings watch ( Graveguard or the bats) , lady margollotas Bodyguard (graveguard again with legendary weapons if possible) and finally for dire wolves the stark wolfpack , wild forest wolfpack and the black forest wolfpack oh and the werewolves of uberwald :) as you can see a lot of game of thrones and discworld references in these names :)
"Dude where's my Femur". "Bone Apetite". "Bone to be wild". "The Universal Donors". "Kacey and the..OH GOD THE HORRIBLE DESTRUCTIVE POWER OF THE SUN-shine band" "Dr. Acula. Paediatric surgeon". "the night (or graveyard) shift". "Mirrors, who needs them"? "Remember the GHOUL times". "Ghoul-fellas". "The Ghoul, the bad, and the ugly" (and other ghoul related puns). "Captain skippy, and his skeleton crew". "Napolean Bone-apart". "VertebraeVE heart" "The LIgament Legion". "No bones about it".
+Tazacks "Achy-Breaky Pelvis". "Vampire rudimentary math club". "Slippy McDisk, the left-leaning skeleton". "Ribs/Ribbed for her pleasure". "Meatbag" "Tim, the Tenderized". "Incontinentia Buttocks"
Unfortunately it's highly unlikely that mods are going to be possible for different IP's it probably took a shit ton of paper work for CA to get basic modding licenses and editors for the players because games workshop is a massive bitch when it comes to their IP.
+Rickon Stark I don't know about that since CA does not own any of the mods, and idk how they would stop people from doing them? also you're in a tough spot in the show huh (;
True but having the backing of the company and their more major editor's and programs would help a lot more. And don't worry Umber Coup incoming, me and shaggydog gonna get mad revenge.
Lionheart. First, some game-related stuff; If you build the Graveyard in a minor settlement, and the Ghostly-thingy in the provincial capital, you will be able to fully uppgrade both. Secondly, unit names; The only two I can come up with, are the Templehof Templars for a unit of Black Knights, and most importantly "The Drakenhof Guard" as a unit of Grave Guard, ideally with Greatweapons. They are both units that "exists" within the Lore, and it would be pretty swell to see them in you playthrough. Especially the Drakenhof Guard... as they have a pretty cool backstory, and ongoing story behind them. But, building chain, pls.
The templehof coat of arms is a skull with a snake coming out of its mouth, and their leader in that battle had no nose... anyone else reminded of Harry Potter?
Manfred Von carstein is the best. I love the vampire counts. The zombies are very strategic in holding opponents then you can hit him in the flanks with your calvary or your monsters. When Manfred gets the Dragon that's when the fun really begins. If I can only just eliminate the dwarfs though they can't defeat me they're just a nuisance to the South while I conquer the North and the east
The correct term, when dealing with flanking dwarves, is not 'flanking me in the behind' its 'finding me in the alps'. Much more thematically appropriate.
Lionheart, before this list I made a list of prominent Total War youtubers whom I had either heard about through TotalWars channel, or ones I had previously known about. I made this list because I knew a lot of people where going to do Let's plays of this at release (and prior to), and I was going to set out to pick my favorite amongst you. I had settled on five: Oakley (I am blanking hardcore on the channel name something thf production... I am sorry Oakley!), WarriorofSparta, HeirofCarthage, SurrealBelief, and yourself. I might look for more given time or if you recommend any I'll definitely check them out. In no way is this list comprehensive as you might well know. To the point of why I bring this up, before I set down to watch some of your videos, Oakley was my top guy, I have been a huge fan of his for awhile (which is why I am so ashamed by my not remembering the name of his channel). I was only a minute into this video and I almost instantly subscribed to your channel. I am now only five minutes in and I can tell you, you might be one of my favorite youtubers right now. I am a bit of a content snob, and I often find myself kind of reviewing reviewers or gamers. I try very hard to mostly keep it to myself or offer constructive criticism, but for five minjtes straight I snuggly cuddled my pillow while I watched you start this. My opinion might change over time, I may find myself losing some of how I feel about your videos. But I truly have to applaud you for, at least five minutes banishing my more critical personality and just by pure merit of being good at what you do, let me enjoy a fucking video. (Excuse the language, but it has been a very long time since I was able to just enjoy youtube and someone's video) I wanted to record for posterity my appreciation. It doesnt have to last forever, I am just happy it happened.
Do you have a beginners tips/tricks. This will be the first Total War game I really try to get into. Great series by the way I look forward to watching the others.
If there was any chance for you to try an hour episode every 5 parts as opposed to the usual 10 that would be splendid!!! But if the work load is too much don't worry about it, I'm just a bit of an addict when it comes to your videos you are such a tip top Brit!!!
Naming them something similar/related to the names in the show "Overlord" would be neat and especially fitting considering the Vampire Count faction and their units. Like naming one "Shalltears Guard" or "The Bloodfallen" would be epic!
The Wolfenstein Guards"" Dyre Puppies! Spirit leechie heevee geevees..Zeligs got that gloomy mean crypt meister thing going on...wait hes a VAN you sir are a VON. .interesting from or of a family usually in a noble form here so he's trying to Friese your Noord growth Mittelgebirge
The raise dead reminds me of Aragorn going through the caves to bring the ancient military back to life to save Gondor, or was in Rohan. In Return of the King (only read the book haven't seen the actual movies)
I'm probably late and I've not a clue which units are available, but for undead I think that names like "The Defilers", "Corpse Takers", and "Blood Hunters" would be good names. Also, "Eaters of the Dead" like the novel.
name the zombies walkers( The count: We'll use the walkers as meat shields, we can allways makes more.), the skeletons "the bones"(Count: Send in the bones to finish the job), and once you get grave guard name them "Counts Guard"(Count: the counts guard will be chosen among the ranks of infantry as the our elite unit), ................................................. and name the Varghulf fluffy :) (Count: Let fluffy have some fun with the survivors)

Secondly, unit names;
The only two I can come up with, are the Templehof Templars for a unit of Black Knights, and most importantly "The Drakenhof Guard" as a unit of Grave Guard, ideally with Greatweapons. They are both units that "exists" within the Lore, and it would be pretty swell to see them in you playthrough. Especially the Drakenhof Guard... as they have a pretty cool backstory, and ongoing story behind them.
But, building chain, pls.
Hype hype hype!!!
If you can name the direwolves, then there's really only one good name for them.
The Lannisters.
The north remembers...
+A Humble Pear Starks would make more sense than Lannisters since Lannisters are lions.
Nuke2099 *whoosh*
A Humble Pear
Yeah I really don't understand what you mean by whoosh. If you meant it as a joke then it wasn't funny.
Nuke2099 It was the sound of the joke going right over your head
Really enjoyed this, looking forward to watching the next part :)
Mannfred said in the second battle: I will pass Nagash! This is the coolest reference to the lore of another faction ever!
Yeeeeeee! I always wait for your videos, Lion heart!!!
The templehof coat of arms is a skull with a snake coming out of its mouth, and their leader in that battle had no nose... anyone else reminded of Harry Potter?
now that u mention it...
Don't say his name
Names:
Hands of dread
Knights of the Sepulcher
Death's Chosen
Bone Vanguard
Manfred Von carstein is the best. I love the vampire counts. The zombies are very strategic in holding opponents then you can hit him in the flanks with your calvary or your monsters. When Manfred gets the Dragon that's when the fun really begins. If I can only just eliminate the dwarfs though they can't defeat me they're just a nuisance to the South while I conquer the North and the east
God your ability with the camera is next lvl awesome
Awesome video ty. I don't have the second new game and just started playing this one. Love your videos. Just subbed
30:22 Well hello there Mr. Churchhill " We have broken them, We have won" lol
Skulduggery fodder for any skeleton unit
Intro + 7.1 @ max volume = amazing. Not a good idea but, wow.
Tier 3 building in a tier 5 settlement. Damn legendoftotalwar and his efficiency
You're the best at this series
How about calling one unit of Skeletons 'Hydra's teeth' as a reference to how they walk like the skeletons from the Jason and the Argonauts movie? :D
Call some fell bats The Bloodsuckers! If you do that would be awsome!
you sir just gained a new subscriber :). loved the video.
Vampire counts? How high can this vampire count?
Vhan, ha ha ha. Two, ha ha ha. Trreee, ha ha ha.
I see what you did there ;)
Lion is, in my opinion, probably the most competent player I've watched play this game yet, really nice enjoyed watching this play out
This makes me sooo pumped to play this game. Can't wait for Tuesday!!! Great walk through! 👍😄
I can't help but think of Bruce Campbell and the Army of Darkness with all these skeletons about the place.
Super. Solid. Skeletons. fighting till the end.
i love how vampires always feel like their british aristocrats living in romania
Bernhard von Carstein vs. Bernhard von Carstein. Who's the real Carstein!?
There seems to be feisty ol bones aplenty out there, seems like allot of fun :)
Danzo of Naruto turned into an old guy with a staff !!!
The correct term, when dealing with flanking dwarves, is not 'flanking me in the behind' its 'finding me in the alps'. Much more thematically appropriate.
The Tenuous death for the skeleton spearman, and a volgrath, (you lord's) puppy
Lionheart, name the Varghulf George, it need's to happen #BADGEORGE!
I have benn waiting for this all day
This is just insanely bad ass looking !!
Loving all these videos.
3:37 Isabella?
For the empire: name a gun unit "stormtrooper brigade"
Do you have a beginners tips/tricks. This will be the first Total War game I really try to get into. Great series by the way I look forward to watching the others.
Yay a new LP from Lionheart!
love your content Lionheart!
Holy vajeezus u are quick on... well, everything! I'm brand new on TW and took me 3 hours to figure out what you did in 18 minutes. xD
You are so good at this, ha!
If there was any chance for you to try an hour episode every 5 parts as opposed to the usual 10 that would be splendid!!! But if the work load is too much don't worry about it, I'm just a bit of an addict when it comes to your videos you are such a tip top Brit!!!
All i needed for my weekend :)
Name a unit "Y no legendary lord choreography" or "Please don't be Rome 2"
Hey lionheart could you call any of your skeleton units "Spooky scary skeletons"
Strike fear into the Empires heart.
The giant bat thing should be named fluffy just for laughs
At least one skeleton army has to be called Get Boned.
Unit Names: The Cold Hands, The Gravebreakers, The Risen Ones
