Deconstructing Harry - Trailer

De beroemde schrijver Harry Block (Woody Allen) kan geen letter meer op papier krijgen. Zijn leven is een aaneenschakeling van onvoorstelbare neurotische, chaotische en erotische avonturen. Met een hang naar drank, verslaafd aan kalmeringsmiddelen en achtervolgd door zijn psychiater, laat hij zich bij het schrijven vooral inspireren door zijn eigen leven, waarmee hij zich de woede van zijn naasten op de hals haalt. Zo dreigt zijn maîtresse Lucie hem te vermoorden en zijn tweede echtgenote heeft hem de bons gegeven na een affaire met haar patiënte...
Langzamerhand lijkt het alsof iedereen zich tegen hem keert. De personages uit de roman roepen de auteur ter verantwoording en lezen hem de les. Zelfs de duivel, in de hoedanigheid van zijn oude vriend Lenny, blijft niet achter. En terwijl heden en verleden, fantasie en werkelijkheid, nauwelijks meer van elkaar te onderscheiden zijn, doet Harry zijn uiterste best grip te krijgen op zijn eigen leven.

I don't have a hard time identifying with Harry... I'm also a neurotic who can't function in real life and I have a lot to be angry about too. Seriously, this is one of the most underrated Woody Allen films. Postmodern satire is fun! Why can't people see the great artistic value of this kind of films?
