Better a sucker than a discarded cast-iron frypan! 😅 BUT, I was surprised a few years back, catching a bunch of fish (in swift-flowing water that should have been great for trout) when what I kept reeling in were fish I'd never seen before. I threw them back, not knowing what they were - so of course, I didn't now what the state regulations on them would be. (And they didn't show up on my game fish guide!) Turned out, they were "fall fish", with no limts for size or bag contents. And they apparently are not too dissimilar from trout, when it comes to the dinner plate! Bottom line here is - it may not be caviar, but enjoy your catch! 😉
I was fishing for pan fish in one of my favorite lakes but there were also bass, muskey, walley and other bigger fish. Well, I hooked into something big using 4 lb. test and my line started going way out and deep. I was 10 at the time and got very excited. It took about 20 minutes to reel it in and it wasn't what I thought or hoped. It was about a 7 lb. carp and I was very disappointed but learned a good lesson on fishing expectations.

Iv been fooled by them before too. Cold water, fast current, size/shape/color of a brownie. But then ya see them lips...
Nothing better than fishing.
Catch em with popcorn
Put your rod on rocks more gently. You can scratch it!
Spotted sucker…
Carpe diem
All my homies hate carp
It's not a carp. White mud sucker
Carp are fun to catch but man do they ruin my fishing line and reels 😂
