I never will understand why people hate on AEW, WWE, or Meltzer. If you don’t like something about a certain part of wrestling then don’t pay attention to it. You have that option of just tuning in to something wrestling wise.

I watch wrestling podcasts more than wrestling and I've heard so many bad things about Dave Meltzer but after sitting down and listening to him for an hour he seems like a decent person with a lot of good points. I wouldn't agree with everything he says but I don't understand the hate.

Why couldn't Vince have made Brett drop it the next night to the Undertaker? It would have solved everything. Throw in a surprise three way for a shot at brett, put taker over that night and have michaels job, so brett didnt have to lose in canada. Next night, taker goes over again on Raw. Done.
His ego didn't allow him to trust Brett in my opinion. I honestly I don't think that Vince thought he could carry the company, like he later proved he could.
The reality is all public companies concern themselves with the stock price. They live from quarter to quarter and earnings call to earnings call. In many cases, what the analysts think is more important than what the customers think. It's not that what the customer thinks isn't important, it's just slightly less of a priority than the analysts opinion because analyst opinion determine big institutional buyers and hedge fund investment choices which affect the stock price.
C.B. should be in a "Hall of Fame" if strictly based on wrestling talent. We don't need to hear Meltzer blather on how it wasn't "his decision". Meh.

Nowt on the Nailz front so far but I live in hope. He's never done an interview with anyone I don't think, at least there's nothing of him on RUclips.

Okay, this needs to be said, once and for all: if Meltzer is so ridiculously wealthy, like his Jonestown cult members claim, why can't be afford decent lighting in his home? Why does his audio set-up seem to be from the 1970s? Why does he appear to be in the same modest abode in which he dwelled in the 1980s?
This is not the presentation that one would expect from a man with money.
Look at James, he's not becoming a millionaire from his business, and his presentation is much better.
Meltzer does not have enough subscribers to become filthy rich. How much money do you think he made selling newsletters for a few pennies to a niche within a niche?
It's fun to note than James has 50,000 more subscribers than Meltzer and Alvarez, despite the fact that James hasn't been at this thing for as long as those two.
We all know Meltzer had a job to do, right? I get it....he is wrong on certain topics, but that's what happens when guys work the Dirt Sheets. Also, I'm not a Cornette fan, but I understand his argument against Kenny Omega. Fans in the Carolinas weren't cheering for a guy working with a 13yr old girl, it's not the same. Nor would the talent of the 80s ever even think of stepping into the ring with a girl like that ever, because it gives no respect to wrestling itself. I get it, any media coverage is good, even bad publicity, but still.....I think Omega is an amazing worker, but for what he does with it makes 0 sense to me.

I haven't watched yet, but I honestly hope you called Meltzer out on a lot of his bullshit...or at least some of it. The man has become too blinded by his own ego and heavy bias (potentially some of it being bought off) that he's no longer impartial or gives a proper look at the business as a whole. Pre-AEW Meltzer was someone of integrity and was taken more seriously due to his knowledge and "correct" takes on things throughout the business/angles. Post-AEW Meltzer has basically become an AEW shill while continually glossing over or completely neglecting to call AEW out on so many bs things/angles/storylines or lackthereof (outside of indirectly calling out WWE due to AEW signing so many past WWE employees), or blasts people on Twitter as soon as one potential negative/realistic/understandable complaint/critique is stated by a person...even to the point where Meltzer hunts down these types of posts JUST to go off on them.
He's become HEAVILY biased towards AEW and his "friends" there who are constantly kowtowing to him. Like Al Snow said, Meltzer is the greatest worker in the business. He's made many many people within the wrestling business take his opinions as gospel, yet has never booked, wrestled, managed, and or promoted any PPV/company ever in his life.

@@MattSingh1 The people you listed that gave praise to Meltzer was back BEFORE AEW, and during the 80s and 90s when they made their endorsement. The man is one of the top historians and is extremely well versed wrestling overall, no doubt. If you actually read what I wrote, you would even see I give Meltzer his props there.
You seem to have some massive blinders if you can't tell Meltzer is biased towards AEW. AEW is also the company that sucks up to Meltzer the most, and has EVPs that Meltzer considers personal friends. I'm sorry you can't tell when a friendship (and potential payoff) can blind a person of someone's/something's shortcomings. It's nice to know you need to resort to name calling and almost as if you take my comment personally. Thanks for showing your level of seriousness that I should take you.

I think Davey Boy was championship material. He and Dyno thrilled the entire world as tag champs. He held a belt in the WWE so Vince must have thought him worthy as well.

STeroids were legal nobody cared about that sham trial. All wrestlers should use steroids as D Low when he quit dropped DRoz who paralyzed in 1999. Injuries are real or Brett keeping sharpshooter on Jerry King Lawyer on purpose to injure him. Hart keeps kayfabe so can't admit truth :). That he brings up Bruno Samartino who is only alive because or Italians in Mountains saving him from Meltzers would not do a job when lost to Larry Zabysko in Shea Stadium :)? Real Performers or Wrestlers are Brock. The modern wrestling is trash just watch some heritage Lou Thesz or Gagne match if ever doubt that. Skinny backyard wrestlers who can't sell or do any moves are not better. Clash of Champions 24 The Shockmaster Debut is better than anything AEW will ever do. Even that card the matches hehe. Its comical to hear a person who has no clue ramble. Those who are lacking IQ tend to flock to somebody who lacks even more. Again its Wrestling instead they try to have fake MMA or Street Fights showing they got not a sliver of a clue. Pro Wrestlers like AThletes are like 6'5 300 pounds of muscle. Now Spike Dudley at 5'8 155 would be considered the Giant like Big D from Dudleys. Telling somebody to take roids or eat protein or get more fiber are not something you can win a settlement in court over ;). Nailz also didn't know what animosity or something meant which was really funniest part of Trial :). That AWA story about Hulk Hogan is bout only thing I can agree with him on. Guys like him who have never taken a bump are parasites not anything helping. Sabu Born to Be Wired compared to this guy making all this money for doing nothing heh. Things always used to be better even TV 4K or 1080p or so its all BS hehe. HDCP is laggy buggy substandard with stuff that conflicts even if you buy it legit. The Championship is just a prop the Champ used to have to put down deposit for it. You don't win it as any match they can claim you did or didn't. Dusty Rhodes would take title off guy after winning for BS or even in AWA to Hulk Hogan. That was more real than anything in Montreal involving Brett Hart hehe. This is why many horror movies show the person is fine at the end of the credits or things like that haha. Jimmy Crownette is a major mark so his entire life is about wrestling that is not real trying to keep Kayfabe or it real. He ruined any company he booked for bankrupting them like Dusty Rhodes haha. ECW was Great while he had some outlaw mud show nobody liked using worst elements in Smoky not even Smokey Mountain Wrestling hehe. Guy mostly known for MIdnight Express with Tennis Racket. Hulk Hogan character FAce in general just didn't draw or work as time changed. So to blame Steroids is ignorant to reality showing this guy has no clue bout Wrestling Business. Again voting to keep Benoit in or out of Hall of Fame is absurd when Ty Cobb is in it or others much worse. Its what you do on the field or so not if your good person or check this or that box hehe. @@djpaul8705 Thanks I'm hardly a Goldberg fan except for Santa Sleigh movie he is amazingly great in that. Though I do think Brett caused his concussion doing that ill fated figure four move. Which I would not even allow to apply if i was Bill or anybody else personally :). I thought he was fine with Anvil in Hart Foundation. Was never big on his singles career or that move in particular. Though I thought it was cool he gave away the sunglasses. Also the hockey team he owned ;). Many movies have the ending changed or things edited or added that were never intended. People are free to believe what want. I just have a problem insulting people who don't think wrestling is real or so :). Pretty common for a performer to not know how things will finish or go until that moment. Many even thought they were losing. Wrestling Hogan or others would win a title at event only to have it taken away. There real stories perhaps of getting shafted in the NWA Territory days if wanted to be technical though :).

I"m just glad were not irked at me like most Wrestling fans seem to be hehe :). The Hall of Fame thing is always kinda BS. There those in many sports like NHL who never get in while they put in Females or others for this reason or another :). Wrestling its tough who do you keep in or out. Does a Great Enhancement or Jobber that never carried a title or won or did anything deserve it? Its tough as you can only do what booked. How many wrestlers have got injured trying to have five star matches. Some rating system by a person who never was hehe. I don't get it especially in the backyards. Being a Historian perhaps. One needs to apply certain standards across the board. Meltzer doesn't do that. Objectivity is not a part of his game. He clearly hated WCW. I'll never forget the time when a caller meekly stated that he still watched WCW. Meltzer then snidely remarked, "oh, so you're the one," suggesting that WCW only had one fan left. That's how Meltzer treats the (rather small) audience that listens to his crap. His sidekick Alvarez is no better. Alvarez actually _worked_ in the business, seems to make no mistakes according to himself, yet never rose above the level of anonymous indy journeyman. I would never pay money to see him wrestle, the definition of a man who neither looks nor sounds like a wrestler. No idea why James bothered interviewing Meltzer. Me? I'm just here for the comments.
