  • If you are looking for a fast way to easily override all materials in to a midtone grey. In this tutorial I going to show you a few ways.
You can use console commands to switch view modes - 'viewmode lightingonly' or use Deferred Rendering in Movie Render Queue. Unreal Engine Override all Material. Clay rendering look.

A "Clay Render" in the context of Unreal Engine 5 refers to a type of rendering mode or visualization technique that displays 3D scenes using a simplified, monochromatic representation without any textures, lighting effects, or materials. The term "clay" is used because the resulting image often resembles a sculpture made of clay.
This rendering mode is particularly useful during the development and design phase of a project for a few reasons:
Focus on Form and Structure: By removing textures and complex lighting, a clay render allows artists and developers to focus on the fundamental forms and structures of 3D models. It provides a clear view of the geometry, helping to identify any issues related to mesh topology, proportions, or general shape.
Optimization and Performance: When working on a scene with a large number of detailed textures and complex materials, it can be computationally expensive to render in real-time. Switching to a clay render can be a quick way to optimize performance during the development process, especially when dealing with complex scenes.
Artistic Decision-Making: Artists and designers often use clay renders to assess the overall composition and layout of a scene without being influenced by the final visual aesthetics. This allows for more informed artistic decision-making in terms of camera angles, object placement, and scene composition.
Enabling a clay render mode in Unreal Engine 5 might involve adjusting the rendering settings in the editor. This can include toggling specific viewport modes, adjusting post-processing effects, or applying special materials to objects in the scene. Keep in mind that the exact method may vary based on the version of Unreal Engine and any updates or changes made to the software.
Using clay renders is a common practice in 3D graphics and game development, and it's not exclusive to Unreal Engine. It serves as a valuable tool in the iterative process of refining and optimizing 3D content before applying final textures, lighting, and materials for the polished visual presentation of a project.

you didn't say that ID masks can be rendered, you need to activate the plugin Movie Render Queue Additional Render Passes, because one Movie Render Queue plugin is not enough

my crypto IDs are not rendered in exr, only green yellow images are rendered and then only when I specify the jpeg format,
maybe you rendered in version 5.1?@@cg-school

why is there always some kind of problem in Fusion?, there is no cryptomatte node, everything works perfectly in Nuke, all nodes are there to extract the ID mask
