  • Like many other “whites only” spaces carved into our history, camping was among the long list of activities that Blacks were not welcomed to take part in. Folks over at Black Folks Camp Too call it a generational fear that they’ve now set out to break.

We are in our 60’s been camping for years. Ready to retire and and just bought our third and final camper to travel. Beware if you go to dealership they still are disrespectful of our people.

I love this and support it. I like hiking, riding my bike etc. I'm into landscape photography and hiking/camping goes well with this. I'll be looking for more opportunities.

I can't begin to explain what a positive impact solo camping has done for me. It's allowed me to reconnect with myself and come to respect nature and all of her beauty. No fancy gadgets, no modern tech, just me and nature. It's quite amazing what it can do for ones mental health.

Well, something is happening: been full timing 6 yrs now...first 3 yrs I saw only one black couple...this year 2022 I've seen 4 walking around this campground in one month.....could be more approachable, but glad to finally see folks that look like me out here anyway....

      Very windy. Lol
I live not so far from there. Definitely a beautiful place to visit and camp. Just not when the wildfire starts. It’ll ruin the experience.

@@EZIEKIEL26 yeah I see why just about all the other campers were in RVs. We only had a tent that just about got blown off the mountain (Grays Meadows)…that’s what it felt like at least.

Yeah, camping in a tent in high winds is no joke. Had me up all night. My lady was snoring. She’ll sleep through a hurricane. 😂😂

I love the outdoors and always have done. Growing up, me and my 2 siblings always went to parks, outdoor spaces, recreation and trips etc. They never told us these spaces weren't for us and thankfully we never knew or had reason to think otherwise. THANK GOD! 👍🏾👏🏾👏🏾
