Your book list is a gem! I requested everything on it that our library had, and almost everything was hit. Thank you, thank you!! We especially loved the What Dou You Do books. The only trouble we had was that the Akimbo series was too emotionally intense for my sensitive K'er; my second grader loved it!

That's wonderful to hear! Yes--I did put a note somewhere in the Parent Guide that the Akimbo books may be a little bit intense for the more sensitive hearts. My boys love the adventure of them!

This just made me think of something funny from years ago: my partner has always complained about us having too many books. When I had just given birth to our oldest, he was of the opinion that we had enough picture books (his dad had saved all his old Dr. Seuss books from his childhood). Then one day, when our daughter was a few months old, he came home all excited about a book he'd bought for our daughter. I was confused because he'd never shown much enthusiasm about picture books before, but he was convinced it was the best book ever. The book was I Want My Hat Back. To this day, I'm pretty sure Jon Klassen's books are the only children's books my partner is capable of getting excited about.

Jon Klassen does have some pretty fabulous books...I guess they can even win the heart of someone who isn't really a fan of kids' books. ha!

I agree that chapter books take time for kids to listen to even tho I could have read them to my older daughter at 3!!! I didn’t as I wanted it to be easier for her and just read more books in a sitting!!! There nothing wrong with Moden classic books!!! Being a bilingual family of a curriculum schedules a book I can get in German I do!!!

It's awesome to be able to just switch to a book in your target language!
