cant we just use the redshift + brightness? redshift tells us velocity, and thus distance apparent magnitude is how bright the star appears on earth by knowing the distance we can make corrections to find the true brightness of the star by knowing the brightness, we know the rate of nuclear fusion by knowing the rate of nuclear fusion, we know the mass.
question. what is you educated guess on the outcome of 2 nearly dead / dead stellar core impacting each other? lets say they strike at between 30 and 45 degrees of each others angular momentum at what ever speed would be reasonable for one or both moving. would they merge, fracture, shatter or bounce off each other... odd question i know :) but inquiring minds (mine any way) what to know! :))
