Location is everything, and what a superb location indeed. Even pitching a tent there and having access to a shower somewhere would still be a fab experience. Poke!!!
The location is excellent if you enjoy nightlife on the weekend. There is also a quick shop (mini mart), an ATM, a night club and several bars all within 2 minutes walk of the hotel.
Thanks for your comment, I'm glad it was helpful. As you can tell from the video not much has changed since your partners last visit but I liked it and I'd go back.
Love your videos Phil. Great seeing Rostrevor again. I stayed here in Aug 2021 when it was very quiet due to Covid. Was such a chilled couple of weeks around the gap. Keep up,the great work!
A great and fair review. I have stayed at the Rostrevor and it is clean, well maintained, all you need self catering and has wonderful staff. You are right in The Gap, so noise may be an issue for some light sleepers but it is the party strip! Such happy memories.
We have stayed at the 02 and The Club barbados we have booked here for april 25 i had a nosy around this place last time we were in barbados and it looked great....wr are beach buming it anyway and refuse to pay the 02 prices again...looking forward to it
Thanks for your comment, the location is similar to the O2 but I'm glad you've had a look around because this will be a big step down, but you should have a clean airconditioned room in a nice hotel and you will of course be on Barbados, which once you leave the hotel is the same paradise for everyone. Have an amazing trip, Phil
My wife and I are simple people when it comes to vacationing. We would GLADLY stay at Restrover. Sandals and the like are not our style. Only worry is that it's in the gap and that would be the only reason not to stay here. If there's a "quiet" area in the hotel this is where we'd like to be. Excellent review. Thanks for tuning us in to The Restrover.
Thank you for your comment, if noise is a concern and you're a light sleeper this might not be the hotel for you. It is opposite some noisy bars on a bit of a party strip. If you're looking for a quiet beach break I would look further north at Holetown. Thanks Phil
Thanks for your comment and support. I'm not sure if I should be red faced by this, because I always thought that, yes there is the car marque "Jeep", but that came after (and because of) the WW2 general purpose vehicle which was nicknamed "jeep" by the soldiers and that general shape (like the jimney) could be referred to as "jeep". Have I got that wrong?
Prefect for me. I rely just need somewhere clean and near the beach, so I can sleep and access Wi-Fi. I spend 95 of my waken moments outdoors when in Barbados. So the price is excellent and I will add it to my options because at time my regular locations are overbooked.
My parents lived near the Fish pot in St Peter for 11, so I have a huge amount of affection for everything Bim! I might be wrong but always call it “Spites-town” vs “Spates-town” tho 😅
Yeah, I've heard that since I was there about the pronunciation. Certainly the English pronunciation of Speight would be "Spayt" but the local pronunciation for it would be "Spite". Thanks for the tip Phil
I think Barbados can be expensive for everything, not just food. To give you some current prices, the fish cutter I ate in the Little Bristol Bar in Speightstown was $35BBD, about £13.50 or $17.30 USD. A main course in a "nice" restaurant was about $100BBD, $50UDS or £38. So generally, yes, more expensive than the UK or USA. Fish and Peas in Oistins was also $35BBD but a double at Lisa's (in Oistins or in Worthing) are $5BBD each and a Roti is $10BBD. So there are cheaper alternatives.
Totally agree, it needs to be clean with a comfy bed, the seafront location was the icing on the cake. But I did hesitate to "recommend" it because there are travellers that take a different view and need those finishing touches.
@@mygreygapyear I could see that was what you were thinking it was good for you but other people might not like it. When I am in Barbados all I need is a clean room, clean bed and screen protector at the window and door . Most of the time I am out doors enjoying the beautiful island and people.
I stayed in the Raddison and also Pirate Inn on my last two trips... great areas for different reasons... regarding your question, i am a similar traveller - I save my money so that i can travel more, rather than travel once a year
Thank you for your comment and support, I am very interested in what it's like staying at the Radisson, if you get chance to reach out I'd much appreciate it.
@cundallthepieman When I was around the Radisson, I couldn't see that much in the vicinity, were there many bars or restaurants near by? I am genuinely interested in your experience for a possible future trip.
@@mygreygapyear You have about 4 shacks nearby (meters away) for basic cutters / burgers etc for Lunch. Within a 5 min walk you have a jamaican place / chinese and indian. The india is amazing (India Grill), but only open for about 2-3 hours per day, Chinese is good. You then have a few rum shack with food, not too many. You have an instgram cafe (a place for photos, rather than food - Blush Cafe), but we also walked to Jake's Barbados. Barbados Cruising Club is next door and has a roof top restro which is nice to watch the sunset and have a few drinks / food. After all of this, then i would get the mini van down to rockley or to the fish fry.. (the mini van is cheap and quick)
That is perfect, thank you. I experienced the ZR between Bridgetown and Oistins a few times before I got the car, didn't think (even after the event) about a quick van ride to Rockley. Thanks again, Phil
I couldn't conceive of going to Barbados and staying at at Sandals-type resort. It's too generic, and you could literally plop it down on any island and not know where you were. My husband and I just returned from our 3rd visit to Barbados. First time we stayed on the Gap, second at Worthing beach, and this time Paynes Bay, because we wanted to avoid the sargassum which almost completely covered Worthing beach while we were there. We can usually only get away for less than a week, so we tend to splurge a little bit, We like to stay at a nice condo, and then explore all the different restaurants the island has to offer, which you really can't do if you're at an all-inclusive.
Thanks for your comment, I agree with you on the all-inclusive although they have there place, I used to stay at them when I worked 50 weeks a year and then collapsed from exhaustion for two weeks onto a lounger (kids grown by this point). I noticed that you seem to be upgrading with each trip, from the Gap, to Worthing, to Paynes bay 😀. I hope you're next trip on Barbados is even better than the others.
@@mygreygapyear the upgrade was merely strategic to avoid the seaweed lol. We’re more south coast folks. We also did all inclusive when our kids were small in Jamaica and Dominican Republic. I’m Irish originally and enjoyed my young days in the Greek Islands. Those were the days 🥰

Camping could be fun on the beach but I'm getting so I need aircon to sleep 😀
The location is excellent if you enjoy nightlife on the weekend. There is also a quick shop (mini mart), an ATM, a night club and several bars all within 2 minutes walk of the hotel.
Thanks for your comment, I'd agree with that, and also Sharkey's is almost opposite which is a good place for your brekky.
Good informative video 👍
We’re booking to go here in early October
My first time in Barbados. Though my partner stayed at the Rostrevor 19 years ago.

Great video. We've been coming to Bim for years and have just booked here for the first time. Your video helped a lot.
Superb, I'm glad it was helpful, and I hope you have an amazing holiday on Barbados.

Great job sir .
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
My parents have been going there for over 30 years to the Rostrevor and recommend it 100% best bang for your buck
That would be a great wat to put it, best bang for your buck.
Just got back from Barbados, stayed at Infinity on the Beach, might look into the Rostrevor for my next trip. Keep up the great work!
I've seen Infinity recommended a lot on Facebook, I think it must be another great pick. Hope you had a great holiday.

Just an observation on my behalf. I’ve hired a few Jimney’s round the world and have become very protective of them… I hope you enjoyed the drive!
